The 2024 Olympics opened in Paris on Friday night, with a visually and musically stunning ceremony. And now the next few weeks will be full of all the summer competitive events. To be honest, I’m mostly in it for the women’s gymnastics, but the running will be great, too.
About The Events
In the 2024 summer Olympics, men and women will compete in 13 different events. You will have the chance to see the athletes show their skill and speed in a variety of races. Sprints include 100 meter, 200 meter, and 400 meter distances, with 4x100m and 4x400m relays. In hurdles, you will see 100/110 meter and 400 meter races. From there, we will move to the 800 meter and 1500 meter “middle distance” races, followed by the “long distance” steeplechase, 5000 meter and 10,000 meter events. And last, but certainly not least, is the marathon. There will be lots of action!
Schedule Of Events
Want to catch the action? Here’s the schedule! Times are ET, which make for some early mornings! Please note, I’ve only included track and road events… there is an entirely different schedule for all the field events. All the events will stream on Peacock.

Team USA Runners To Watch
Noah Lyles, from Clermont, Florida, is back for his second Olympics. He took home a bronze medal in 2020, and at 26, he’s back to make a splash in Paris. You’ll see him in the 4z100m relay, and maybe the 4x400m relay.
Emily Sisson is also back at the Olympics. She’ll test herself in the Women’s Marathon. Sisson is a great distance runner and she’s fun to watch. We’ve seen her locally at the Gate River Run, where she won in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
Sha’Carri Richardson is in Paris for her first Olympics and we hope for great things from her. As one of the fastest women in the world, it’s time for her to shine and we are cheering her on for her sprints.
Are you watching the Olympics? Who are you rooting for?

I just watched the last few minutes of today’s triathlon. Of course, we were cheering for the Swiss athlete, and she actually came in second!
They did swim in the Seine after all… I hope they won’t get sick. They still have the team even coming up.
I’m looking forward to the running events – especially the women’s marathon!

I would not have set a toe in that river. So gross LOL. I hope no one gets anything nasty, but congratulations to her!

Thanks for sharing this! I am excited to watch the running events. The past few days have been so hectic I haven’t been able to watch any of the events yet.

We watch some at night, but it’s more “whatever is on” than a concerted effort to watch something specific.

I love the Olympics! My favorite is the gymnastics to but I really enjoy the track events too. Thanks for this schedule. I’m printing it out so I can keep it on hand. We even signed up for Peacock just so we can see everything live. It’s been great.

Listen, I am loving it this year. Snoop! Flavor Flav! Bob, the swim cap guy! STEVE, the pommel horse guy! The whole USA gymnastics team, men and women! It’s epic!
