November is the month of gratitude, so I want to take full advantage and talk about the reasons I’m grateful for running. Obviously, running is a huge part of my life, so it only makes sense for me to be so very thankful.
(updated from November 2021)
I’m Grateful For The Time
Running gives me time for myself. It’s my time to decompress, to work through feelings, or to just lose myself in my own head. When I run, it’s the only time I have entirely for me, and I value that so much.
I’m Grateful For The Challenge
Running is hard. Even professional and elite athletes struggle sometimes. However, challenges are good. They keep us hungry and pushing forward. I’m so grateful to be able to rise up and put in the work to achieve my goals and stay strong.
I’m Grateful For The Friends
Running has brought me so many incredible friends. It’s amazing to have a group of people with similar interests, who are more than willing to go out at the crack off dawn and sweat through some miles. We have laughed together, cried together, vented together, and celebrated together. It’s amazing.
I’m Grateful For The Views
Running has brought me to so many new places and I’m so grateful for all of the places I’ve seen. Travel is another passion of mine, so the journeys and destinations are both so treasured.
I’m Grateful For The Mental Peace
For me, running is a form of therapy. Don’t get me wrong, running is absolutely not a replacement for actual therapy, but it does soothe me and allow me to regulate for the day. Physical activity is so critical to my mental health, so I am thankful for the self-soothing running permits me.

I think you have the wrong link up code.
But check out my post today.
Great minds.
I think we feel the same way.
Running as therapy is no joke. Not sure how I dealt before running.

Haha! I fixed it and we do!
Deborah Brooks says
the friends are the best part! I am also so very grateful for running for all of those reasons and more.

The friends are the best!

Yes to all of these! One thing about being injured is, it makes me incredibly grateful for every single run I’m able to do. So glad we have this thing we love so much!
runswithpugs says
Yes, yes, Yes! I feel the same.
Michelle D. says
A big yes to all of these! It’s funny there was a time when I would have never considered running, and now I cannot imagine it not being a part of my life.
runswithpugs says
Right? And now I actually pay for it!
Chocolaterunsjudy says
It’s funny, I do absolutely live running in new places. I can go farther by running, but I often see more by running/hiking. Both are great therapy!

Absolutely true!
Darlene Cardillo says
I do love new places.
I prefer the company of friends but it is great alone time.
And it is a challenge. Challenges are healthy
runswithpugs says
I go back and forth. Friends are great, but sometimes I need alone time to recharge.
Wendy says
I agree with all of this! But also that running keeps me young, lol
runswithpugs says
YES! And that is so important!
