Well, the groundhog saw its shadow, so we are down for six more weeks of winter. Unless, of course, you live in Florida, where we are already seeing temperatures in the 80s. Not cool. Literally. Oh, well. Let’s get into the week.

Sunday
- Cardio: 1.22 miles, walking
It was our last day in Safety Harbor. Everyone was pretty worn out, so I drove over to the waterfront for a quick walk while everyone was still in bed. I was planning to walk from the house rental to town, but there was a long stretch of road past train tracks and I just wasn’t sure it was the best idea. While I don’t always listen to my gut, I’m glad I did: when I reversed out of the driveway, I saw a person sleeping on a mattress up against the house next door!
It was time to leave anyway, so we packed it up, wandered the Farmer’s Market for a bit, and had the loveliest breakfast.

And then we drove Meghan home and made the trek back to ours.
Monday
- Cardio: 6.26 miles, running + .7 miles, walking
- Strength: Legs + Abs, 50 minutes
You know my feelings on re-entry, and this was no different. I was really just not about it.

Tuesday
- Cardio: 5.12 miles, walking
J wasn’t feeling well (physically), and I wasn’t feeling well (mentally) so I stayed in bed as long as I could before going for my walk. I had the best intentions of going to the gym, but then I didn’t. Because I didn’t want to.

There was an evening meeting that was really weighing on me, and it ended up being better than expected. Isn’t that usually the way?
Wednesday
- Cardio: 5 miles, running + walking
- Strength: Arms + Abs, 40 minutes
Another warm day that I didn’t get out nearly early enough. Meh. I tried to make the best of it.

Thursday
- Cardio: 6.46 miles, running + walking
J thought she would be up to coming up, but it wasn’t meant to be, so I made my way out on my own. It was hard to have fun but I did my best.

Friday
- Cardio: 6.12 miles, running + .65 miles, walking
- Strength: Legs + Abs, 40 minutes
TGIF, I guess. J was finally up for a walk although she was tired, so we didn’t go far together. I followed the miles with a trip to the gym, for some lower body work.

Other than that, it was a fairly dull Friday.
Saturday
- Cardio: 3.59 miles, walking
This was a busy Saturday. I popped up to take myself for a walk, and then walk the pugs. The fog has been out of control. In parts of the state, people are complaining about it smelling funny and leading to headaches, sore throats, and sinus funk. I haven’t experienced that, but it’s disconcerting all the same.

I spent a big chunk of the day at the dojo, helping shoot footage for some videos and commercials. The kids were super excited to participate and I loved that. I can’t wait to sift through all the footage!
Oh. And in breaking news… The Christmas tree is down and away. I am just kicking butt.
Thoughts + Goals
Here’s a little confession: my mood has not improved much. Even with getting out of town and spending time with some of my favorite people, that weight isn’t lifting. Ugh.
This week will be interesting. We have a holiday weekend, and though we are staying home, I do hope we have a nice time. I am also hoping to attend some fun Galantine’s and Valentine’s events. Hopefully that helps pick me up a little. I don’t like feeling down.

Weekly Rundown
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!

I know it’s tough to run in the heat, but man, 80 degrees sounds sooooo good right now. Looks like you’re making the best of it and getting out there!
I know it sounds good, but then you get out there and almost choke on the humidity. Yuck.
We are definitely back in winter here with snow again this week. Sounds like you made the most of a tough week. Hope this one is better for you
We’ll see. I hope it can’t be awful forever, but I guess we will have to wait and see.
Well, hopefully some of that cold air up north will make its way down to us- I’m not enjoying the 80s right now. And Darlene and I are running a half next weekend, which is going to be a swelter-fest. Oh well- I would be complaining more if I lived up north in the cold!
I don’t know why 2025 has been difficult so far (well- I can think of a few reasons…) I’ve also been in a funk. Your Valentines/Galentines plans sound fun. AND, you got your Christmas tree down and I got the outdoor lights down- we are rocking it (ha ha.)
By March, we should have eliminated all the holiday decor! Go us!
Have so much fun at your race. It will be hot for sure. Sigh.
This year is just garbage. I hate it so much.
Wow, I have to admit that sunshine on your runs (even though I would probably melt) looks so so lovely. And that breakfast pic, yum. Re-entry into real life is so hard after time away! Well done this week Jenn.
Re-entry is the worst. I just want to stay on vacation forever.
As you can probably guess, I’m totally jealous of your temps. That said, although it’s been cold here, the snow has stayed away most of the winter, so the roads have been drivable (and runnable). I hope the gloom lifts from your spirits <3
I know you want a piece of this summery weather, but it’s super soupy and swampy. Yuck.
I’ll get over it.
Winter came back here with cold weather and then some sleet, ice and snow yesterday! I’m not having it. Grateful for my treadmill but I’d like to run outside safely more than 1 day in a row,ugh.. I’m also over winter if you can’t tell. Nice job with the miles this week.
It’s always got to be hard to feel trapped inside, when you just want to be out there. Hope it warms up soon.
Hope this coming week is better for you.
We enjoyed the sunshine and warmer temps while in Florida, but it didn’t really get above the low 80’s. I’m not a fan of much higher than that.
I hope you didn’t have all the humidity too. That’s just the worst.
I’m so sorry you’re feeling so low. 🙁 I’m sending some hugs if that helps.
But like many others, I really would love to have your weather. It’s so cold here right now and I’m just tired of it.
Well done getting all your running, walks and more done – and getting the Christmas tree down!
Thank you. It does.
Listen. The Tree was a huge victory over here. Yay me!
Yes, it’s warm, but it’s soupy and swampy and no one wants that. Plus, this weird fog won’t quit.
Ok, I for one do not want any of that heat. LOL! I hear there is a storm heading to Ohio, so maybe when I get back home the snow will be waiting for me there! I’m sorry you are feeling blue. I hope the upcoming holiday activities will give you a boost!
I don’t want the heat either! Go away!
i am feeling a little better, but not fabulous. And that stinks. But it will get better.
It is easier to run when it’s cold but I’m ready for some sunshine.
I wish you were coming down my way (West Palm)
It’s hard for me to run by myself… and I’m the only one running long.. A short one is better than none.
I do envy you being able to stay in bed. I have to be working by 8am… grrr..
I wish I was coming down to WPB too.
I usually need to be up and out but sometimes I am off the hook.
