Honestly, love and running were the main things that got me through the last week. For some reason, it feels like each week is getting harder than the last, and I’m not loving it. I thought once January was over, we would reach some sort of normalcy, but it seems that’s not to be. This year seems to be all about white knuckling through, and I’m not about it.

Sunday
- Cardio: 3.33 miles, walking
I was exhausted after a long Saturday of work, so I did sleep in a bit. I walked myself, and then took the pugs out for their constitutional. Some days, they love it. Other days, Leonidas absolutely loses his mind – he’s so scared of trucks and loud vehicles, and it can be a challenge to keep him on track.

I made homemade pop tarts for a brunch, and then we made pizza and snacks for the Super Bowl.

I was absolutely uninterested in the game, and I wasn’t even that into the commercials this year. The halftime show was another story! Wow! I’ve been rewatching it all week! And yes, I loved Kendrick Lamar’s jeans, too.
Monday
- Cardio: 5.25 miles, running + .34 miles, walking
Twas a dark and foggy morning. Is anyone else having the crazy fog? It’s been almost every morning. And with the pollen and smoke from nearby construction fires, the air just isn’t great.

I had to hustle, though! This morning was an early Galantine’s brunch, and I was so excited to get out for it! It turned out to be the loveliest morning, hosted by 904withus. I met so many inspiring women, the food was divine, and everyone looked gorgeous in their pink, red, and florals! This was such a special treat.

Tuesday
- Cardio: 6.59 miles, running + .54 miles, walking
We are back to muggy, steamy days. Boo.

I spent a ton of time working on some projects. There were videos to edit, graphics to create, and copy to write. I didn’t even get to take a shower til right before dinner! Of course, that means it was a productive day.
I had an evening meeting, and Mr PugRunner took A to meet with a physical therapist – that’s what he thinks he might like to do as a career, so he got to shadow her and ask her some questions and learn a little more about the practice. Very cool.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 5.78 miles, walking
Another slammed day. I started things off with a walk.

And in the evening, I got to celebrate with A’s jazz band concert. I always love the Iget to see them perform. He wasn’t thrilled with the show, but I really loved it. It was even more awesome to see him featured on Sing Sing Sing, one of my favorite jazz pieces ever.

Thursday
- Cardio: 6.86 miles, running + .34 miles, walking
- Strength: Legs, 30 minutes
It was a lovely Thursday to go out with J! I also managed to get in some gym time. Yay!

And then we called it a day. We were gearing up for a four day weekend and I just really wanted to lay low. Normally, I do a Galentine’s related evening, but I just wasn’t feeling it.
Friday
- Cardio: 6.67 miles, running + .35 miles, walking
Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s not my favorite holiday, but I had to represent with my heart Jogology socks!

Mr PugRunner and I braved downtown to do some branding footage for his company. It ended up not being as productive as I would have liked, but I did have a pistachio cold brew, so that’s a win.

A took his girlfriend out for a whole day of fun, with the beach and a cat cafe. They had Japanese for dinner, made a blanket, and then went back to her house to make a chocolate covered strawberry dessert.
Saturday
- Cardio: 4.54 miles, walking
Up and at em! This was going to be a wildly busy day and I had to get ready for it. I walked myself and the pugs.

And then it was time to hit the road. We brought A and his buddy down to their girlfriends’ winter guard competition and then we went to have our Valentine’s Day lunch. The drive was a little stressful, but such is life with a driving teenager.

Once I got home, I was more than ready to call it a night.
Thoughts + Goals
So I’m in a weird limbo place right now. I don’t have any big races on the calendar, and things are very much in flux, which is annoying. I’m bummed about missing Gate River Run and BDR Orlando, but also, there’s nothing to be done about it.
I think I’ll just focus on some other, smaller, local races for right now, and then treat myself to a longer race in the fall.

Yep- steamy, muggy and foggy here too. It’s not foggy EVERY morning, but we’ve had several drives to school where the fog was so dense I almost felt like it wasn’t safe. What’s up with that, anyway???
Valentine’s Day is not my favorite holiday either, but maybe it would be if I spent the day like A and his girlfriend! They obviously know how to have fun.
You had a busy week, as usual! Nice job fitting in all your workouts in addition to everything else.
I think we are through with the fog, but who knows. Cold temps again this week, so we will see.
They did have a really nice day.
That brunch with the girls looks so fun and quite a spread! Sometimes I enjoy having no pressure to train and be able to mix things up a bit. We are getting another snow storm this week!
Stay warm! It was mostly homemade Indian food and it was heavenly.
I took the most adorable picture of two of our parkrun volunteers yesterday – they are married and they were holding hands awww. One day late but never mind!
Oh, I love that so much!
Your Galentines get together looks so fun and festive! Great things come from girl time 😉
I wish I could take all the credit but my friend did all the food and decor. I loved it so much!
Ah yes, driving with teenagers is stressful! My daughter was always very cautious, and often a bit too slow. My son was a decent enough driver, but still, stressful. Hope A has many happy miles ahead of him with his driving journey!
I do have a marathon coming up in April, but I’m starting to get back to my “old injured state”. So hopefully things take a turn for the better and all issues clear up!
It’s so awful. He’s a great driver but Florida is a terrible place to be in a vehicle. I try to give him the freedom, but I am a nervous wreck the whole time.
I hope your issues clear up, too! That’s no fun!
Your Galentine’s brunch looks amazing! I swear, you have the best food!
Being a PT would be a great career for your son. They are so smart and I often send my patients to them before the ortho. Keep me posted on what he decides! If he really wants to do it, he should look for an accelerated program that is 6 years to the doctorate.
Thank you so much! I will definitely keep you posted! And that’s a great idea, too! I appreciate all the advice so much!
Oh my goodness look at that spread ! What a fun event and I love the pop tarts – so cute! Do you have a good recipe?
Nice job with the miles as always. We had more snow more ice and more sub-zero temps this week so I’m living through you!
What a fun Galentine’s celebration! Stunning. You embraced the holiday!
