Look; I’m not complaining exactly, but I’m getting a little worn out by this whirlwind I’m living right now. I know I’m probably not the only one going through it right now, but I am feeling a little bit of “flight or fight” kicking in and it’s not amazing. Here we go.

Sunday
- Cardio: 4.62 miles, walking
And so the week began! It was a beautiful morning for a walk, although the weather deteriorated throughout the day.

It was also my second day of dog walking for a sweet senior. It was lovely!
Monday
- Cardio: 7 miles, running + .67 miles, walking
Is it just me or do Mondays make you just want to get up and at ’em? I was all motivated and really enjoyed my run. As you can see, the clouds started to gather, which was a little disappointing. I prefer bluer skies.

Work was crazy, too. Not only did I have dog walking, but I also had to put together so many graphics and videos, as well as work on the spreadsheets for a mulch fundraiser for our Scout Troop. Some days there really aren’t enough hours.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 6 miles, running + .88 miles, walking
It drizzled just a little and then things cleared up a bit. Just enough for some walking and running.

I enjoyed my last day of walking with my client, too.
In the evening, Mr PugRunner and I were invited to check out a new to us restaurant. They served cocktails and their signature “Whiskey Cake”, along with some other appetizrs, and we had a great time.

Wednesday
- Cardio: 3.45 miles, walking
I got caught in a torrential downpour and I was NOT happy about it. It was one of those days where I started early and things were going great, and then the heavens opened when I was way too far from home. Ugh. No photo because I was freezing and wet.
Things did clear, which made it perfect to go meet two more boxer clients. They were the sweetest and I can’t wait to hang out with them!
In the evening, we had book club at the coolest Mexican restaurant I’ve seen in quite some time. The book was The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix, and it was unanimously enjoyed by those who ready it. Next month, we read The Women, By Kristin Hannah.

Thursday
- Cardio: 6.14 miles, running
No more rain but we are back to cooler temps, which is A-Ok by me.

I had coffee with a good friend, which was so very needed. And then it was time to dig into more work. It’s been one of those weeks.
Friday
- Cardio: 5.90 miles, running + walking + .62 miles, walking
TGIF for sure! I had a good run and walk with J, and took the pugs for a nice walk, too. They love it.

The afternoon and evening was a bit of a rush. A has his MPA performance at a high school about 40 minutes away, and they needed to eat dinner and get in their concert attire between the end of school (3:50) and getting on the bus (4:45). I made a run to pick up dinner for A and his girlfriend, and then went directly to the mulch fundraiser to get started.
I was not able to make it to the performance, but Mr PugRunner said they were phenomenal. In the sight reading portion, A was tapped for a solo, and he received a compliment on his playing, which was awesome. They earned straight Superiors and I am so proud of them!

Saturday
- Cardio: 2.58 miles, walking
Oh we were up and at ’em early today! I squeezed in a quick walk.

And then I settled in for a long day of our Troops’ mulch fundraiser. The whole family was scattered all over the place, which was fine, but I am very much looking forward to some rest tomorrow.
Thoughts + Goals
So where are we at?
I’m ok. It’s ok. Everything is ok. I mean. Maybe not ok, but we are, as the Norwegians say “upright and not crying.” Mostly.
March is here and it’s going to come with some changes. I’m absolutely prepared to ride it all out, because honestly, what choice is there?
I am working on scheduling a March race, and hope that I can get that fit in. Also, I”m getting ready to embark on the fun of my first housesitting jobs, and that will be a nice change of scenery and pace for me.

I hope everything is ok with you! Life has thrown a lot at me lately as well, but I’m trying to embrace all the good that seems to balance out the bad. Being busy helps me to not ruminate on everything. And running of course! Hang in there!
Congrats to your son!!!
Hugs to you. I’m trying to embrace the good and I’m generally pretty positive, but some days, I just feel like I can’t get a breath. I hope you are well, too. We will endure, right?
It sounds like you have lots of good things going on, hopefully to balance out the rest.
Congrats to A on his great performance!
Coco recently posted…Wrapping Up February
I’m trying, but some days feel super hopeless.
He did amazing.
It sounds like there’s a lot going on, and I hope you’re feeling better soon. I do like thar Norwegian saying — it seems pretty accurate sometimes. Thinking of you! Hope this is a better week despite everything going on for you.
The most accurate, for real. I keep saying it can only get better, right?
I loved The Women.
I do read a lot but no time for an official book club.
With the condition of the country and the world… not crying is positive.
Hope you find a good March race. That always lifts ,my spirits.
I’ve heard great things about it.
Some days I just want to lay down and weep. I feel so alone.
I have two options, so I hope I can make one of them work.
Upright is good! Hey at least you are able to get outside everyday and that really helps. Sounds like you have so many fun restaurants to go to and try out. Hope your first week of March goes well
I hope it does, too. And I’d like to continue to stay upright.
Upright and not crying- I love it. Some days that’s all we can hope for. Sounds like a busy but productive week for you guys- congrats to A and his band! We have MPA in two weeks.
You must be loving the dog walking gigs- and I’m sure your canine clients love you.
Good luck at your MPA! It’s always so amazing to see these musicians in action!
I LOVE dog walking. I hope I can scale up the business!
It all gets done one way or another, right? Any winter whirlwind I was caught up in came to a crashing halt when I had emergency surgery to remove my ruptured appendix and then spent six days in the hospital. Recuperating at home was slow, but I’ve finally turned the corner and back at it!
That’s so terrifying! I’m so glad they caught it and you are ok! I’m so glad to see you back out and about!
I’m glad you are upright and not crying! What a wonderful saying!
Your consistent routine to get your runs done despite feeling so worn out is inspiring. But I do remember how refreshing running is for the soul. Hope you’ll continue feeling ok.
it really does feel reinvigorating but I would also be down for a nice nap.
I have Norwegian heritage, but had not hear “Upright and not crying,” LOL…but that’s a great mindset! Hopefully all your busyness will mellow a bit, and your’e able to give yourself some grace and TLC.
Maybe in a few weeks!
It’s probably one of my favorite phrases!
How exciting for your son! Congrats to him. Good luck on your housesitting gig. Hopefully the change of scenery will lift your spirits a bit!
Thank you. They were awesome.
I hope it helps. Something has to.
