Ready or not, it’s time to bring in the spring! Thursday is the first day of the season, and honestly, Florida has been playing pretty nicely. For once, it actually felt like spring, with coolish temperatures and low humidity. Why can’t it last?

Sunday
- Cardio: 3.42 miles, walking
Sunday was the last day of the first of three consecutive overnight jobs. I had a blast with the dogs in my care, and it was a great way to start everything. They were totally chill when I went out for some miles. One of the coolest things about my new endeavor is getting to run and walk in new areas.

That being said, I was really glad to get a night in my own bed.
Monday
- Cardio: 4.23 miles, running + .89 miles, walking
I woke up to pouring rain, which meant no run for me. Instead, I packed my bags, said goodbye to the family, and headed off to my next job. The weather cleared and I was able to get in a quick run! I’ll take it!

In the evening, I picked up Mr PugRunner so we could attend a Yelp Block Party. We had such a nice time – several businesses welcomed us with samples of food, drink, and services. It was fun to just wander around on a gorgeous evening and support these local shops and restaurants.

Tuesday
- Cardio: 6.12 miles, running + 1.24 miles, walking
Another gorgeous morning. So gorgeous, in fact, that I didn’t have to head out at the crack of dawn. Isn’t that nice?

In the evening, we went to the Mandatory Marching Band Meeting, where we got the title and theming of our show and all the details for the upcoming season. I had chills the whole time. Going into this as a senior mom is hitting so different. And it was confirmed that we will be traveling to BOA Grand Nationals in Indianapolis in November. The kids (and director and staff) are SO EXCITED.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 6.2 miles, walking
I got to head out on some trails today and that was lovely. Sometimes, you just need a good ol’ walk in the woods.

I met a new client, who hired me, not only for a long trip this summer, but for some dog walks and a few random overnights leading up to that. So excited and I promise I’ll stop talking about it soon. It’s just blowing my mind that I’m meeting so many amazing dogs (and humans!)
Thursday
- Cardio: 5.51 miles, running + 1.55 miles, walking
More traIls? Yes, please. Also, peep the swamp puppy. He actually took me very much by surprise.

I picked up A from school: it was the last day before Spring Break and he is so ready for some down time.
Friday
- Cardio: 5.07 miles, running + 1.47 miles, walking
TGIF and Happy Pi Day (and happy birthday to Kim!)! It was a beautiful morning for a dawn run!

I cleaned up and went home to take A out for breakfast. We had a really awesome time over coffee and donuts – I don’t get to see him nearly enough and I want to carve out as much quality time as I can. He’s such a cool guy and it was so nice. Then he joined me at Costco and he ended up buying his first computer that he’s been saving for.

Saturday
- Cardio: 6 miles, walking (although I think it was more)
First, I walked myself, and then I walked dogs.

I actually had to work through three clients today, which was a major challenge, but i got it done! I even squeezed in making a delicious tortellini pasta salad and inviting Mr PugRunner to a picnic dinner. That’s a win!
Thoughts + Goals
Another gym-less week, but that’s ok. I’m absolutely making up for it in miles. I’ll be able to get back at it in about eight days.
In the meantime, everything is moving in a positive direction. I am a little backlogged on work, but I will catch up.

Sounds like your first overnight dog sitting endeavor was a success. It’s like a little mini vacation just for you. I imagine you are a fantastic dog sitter! It’s nice to get out in different areas.
I hope the owners think so! The dogs are all pretty chill and relaxed, which is good for them and for me!
Yay for great running weather and quality time with new dogs!
Interesting that you are staying at the dog’s home. We’ve always taken Scooby to their house, but he’s chill about his environment, schedule, etc.
Quality time with a teen is hard to find — definitely need to cherish it!

Honestly, with my husband working from home and my dogs being kind of meh about others, it’s easier for me not to board. I also think that a lot more people don’t want to bring their dogs anywhere. So many people do work from home and their pets prefer their own space. It’s kind of like a mini vacation for me, although I do want to get back to my own bed and had to schedule the next week off after three back to back bookings over about 20 days.
Sounds like a really nice week, and I love those trails! Northern Florida is obviously superior to South Florida- we had some nice days to start the week, but now it’s hella-hot here. So, no- I’m not ready for spring! Let’s go back to winter.
Sounds like A has a really fun senior year coming up. I’ll be excited to find out what’s next for him after HS!
You and me, both! He says he wants to be a PT, so we will see how that goes!
Your dog-sitting sounds Ike a perfect fit! Am I ready for spring? Heck, I’m ready for SUMMER 😉 Thanks for the bday wishes!
Yes, you love that summer feeling! Not so much, here!
Yes I’m definitely ready for Spring in Cleveland! We had a taste of it this week before it was back to cold. Nice job with all the miles this week! Hope work slows down soon for you.
We will get there for sure! looking forward to another cool week!
Such a busy week for the doggie business! That’s great. Exploring new areas would be a nice bonus too! I hope you do get to spend lots of time with A before senior year starts rolling by so fast! It’s crazy fast. Congrats to the band on heading to BOA Grand Nationals!
