It’s time to enter into our big celebratory time of year. Sure, we just had Easter, but we are moving into birthdays and Mother’s Day, too. What a great time to share some runfessions.

For this month’s trip to the runfessional, let’s join up with Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
Let’s Start By Runfessing…
That these past few months have been a test, for sure. It’s nothing to dive into here, but I see light at the end of the tunnel, and I’m ready for it. Of course, it’s all a reminder that the hard times make us stronger. I’d venture to say I’ve learned some patience as well.

Next, I’ll Runfess…
That I am missing two great races this month. It’s fine, and I’m already mostly over it, but it’s always disappointing to look forward to something and then have it not work out. There are only so many hours in a day, and I have to be realistic as to what I physically can and cannot do. This time, running lost out.

My Next Runfession Is…
We had the chillest, most low-key, casual Easter ever. And it was just fine. For the first time, there was literally an entree and dessert, rather than apps and paired cocktails. Mr PugRunner threw together some espresso martinis from what we had in the liquor cabinet, and they were fabulous. My parents came, A and his girlfriend showed up, and it was lovely. I personally missed the aesthetic touches, but I didn’t miss the pressure of making it happen.

I Runfess…
That A is turning 17 on Tuesday and the realization is just too much. It’s like he’s one year from adulthood and college and all the things. I’m having a time, for sure. He is a low-key guy and has a pretty quiet day planned.

Finally, I Would Runfess…
That I hit my first big challenge with work and it’s really thrown me for a bit of a loop. Again, no need for details, but I was a little discouraged. And that’s ok. Things can’t always be amazing, and we live and learn.

Ugh, missing two great races — that’s tough!
Any chance you can squeeze in a make-up race later this year? I hate when plans get derailed like that.
There are plenty of events. I just wanted to do these.
Aw, Happy Birthday to A! 17! This is an exciting time for him (and you). Of course that also means lots of changes coming up- but you will roll with it, as you always do.
Sorry about those races- I hope you can find some make-up races as Catrina suggested. That said- all races from now on will be HOT AF down here, so… there’s that. Sigh.
So many changes!
I’ll find some other ones… Maybe even on my birthday weekend!
Those kiddos do grow up so fast! Happy birthday to your son! Learning to roll with the changes or the challenges that come your way is not easy but definitely rewarding. I’ve gotten better at it as I’ve aged.
That’s what the passage of time does — helps us get better at those patience and grace things.
Sorry for the missed races. It’s tough and the FOMO can be rough, but you seem to be moving on with grace. Happy Birthday to your 17-yr old!
17!!!! How did it happen?
I missed two races I usually enjoy this year (burnout) and volunteered instead so I got to participate.
I hear you on the last 100 days. It’s mind boggling. And it keeps on keeping on. Oof.
Good luck with your work challenge. This too shall pass.
On and on and on. I like unprecedented times.
I will find other races but I wanted these. Wah.
The work thing has worked itself out, mostly. Lessons learned and all that.
Happy Birthday to A. One more year to being an empty nester.
Too bad about those races but I know you’ll find others.
Work challenges aren’t fun but hopefully the successes outweigh them.
Looking forward to your upcoming B0day?
Isn’t it wild? The idea of it is bizarre.
There are plenty of others. I just wanted these. Oh well.
Our upcoming birthday, you mean!
Sorry about the missed races. And the work challenges…hopefully all will settle down.
Big happy birthday to A!!
It will all be ok. It can’t always be amazing, right?
Happy birthday to A! The good news is, as much fun as you’ve had raising him, you’re going to enjoy him as an adult too!
Sorry about the Rover drama.
I hope so! He’s ready to start making his own adventures soon, and it’s definitely going to be hard to let him fly. But also exciting.
Things are working out ok… we had a bit of a rough start, but yay for pushing through.
Happy Birthday to A! He’s at such an exciting time of his life and of course you are along for the chaotic ride. Your Easter celebration sounds perfect. Hope the Rover drama is behind you. We learn and adjust accordingly.
All is well and I did learn so I can adjust!
