Happy Physical Fitness & Sports Month! Wow, that’s quite the mouthful. But May is a great month, and this a great initiative, so let’s get on board. I have a few goals I’d love to share with you.

100 Kettlebell Swings A Day For 30 Days
You know I’m easily influenced by social media trends, and when I saw this 100 Kettlebell Swings A Day For 30 Days, I thought to myself “yes. This is it.” Benefits include “getting snatched,” as well as a great overall workout. Not only can you knock out a series of 100 swings fairly quickly, even at home (I’m currently doing mine in sets of 50), but you work on your upper and lower back, glutes and hamstrings. Kettlebell swings also activate your upper body and core. So easy! I’m currently using a 10lb kettlebell, because that’s what I have at home, but I will bulk that up when I go to the gym.

Continue With My Lunge Alternates
I’ve often talked about my struggle with lunges, and I finally found a way to get around them. Of course, nothing is as good as the actual move, but sometimes you just have to do your best with what you have. As you know, lunges are great for stability and building up your knees, quads, glutes, calves, and hamstrings. You will also benefit from some core work as well. I found a series of four exercises that cover similar areas, without putting so much pressure on my toes and ankle, and I am so much happier. I’m actually seeing progress in my quads, as well, which makes my fitness heart happy.

Keep The Gym Time Going
As difficult as it’s been to make a gym schedule work, I’m doing it. The gym, as you know, is one of my least favorite places to be, but I miss feeling strong, so I’m finding a way to make it happen. Petsitting has definitely cramped that style a little, as I’ve navigated the balance between getting my things done and staying with the dogs and cats in my care (for the most part, sitters get to “live their lives” but I do have a few clients who need a little more daily attention).

Keep That Summer Running Going Strong
Most importantly, I want to keep up my summer running. Because yes. It is summer here. And yes, it’s hard. I have new shoes on the way and I’ve adjusted my attitude. All this is so important to keep me moving forward and keep my goals on track.

Happy National Physical Fitness and Sports Month! Kettlebells are a great tool to use for so many exercises and I love kettlebell swings. What I don’t like about most of these types of challenges is that they are daily and don’t allow for muscle group recovery and repair. It’s during that 48 rest period that our muscles grow and get stronger. If it was alternating swings one day and pushups the next day so you were working opposing muscle groups, that would be much more effective. Just my two cents worth even though you didn’t ask. 😉
Nice goals! Gosh, I haven’t fired-up my kettlebell in awhile…I use it as my “water bottle prop holder” in my workout space, LOL. Maybe I ought to dust it off…
