weekly recap: 12/28 – 1/3

January 5, 2015      19 Comments

This time next week, I will (hopefully) be strutting (or hobbling) around a theme park, weighed down by some golden bling   eating all the things and taking all the selfies. Pictures or it didn't happen, right? It's all come down to now. Talk about pressure. I've been training ...

running long

December 30, 2014      14 Comments

As my marathon training has gone on, I have come to dread the inevitable "long run." When I was working towards the half, the long runs were always pretty much manageable, with the exception of a bad run here and there, but I could power through eight miles, ten miles, twelves miles, refuel, shower ...

So here's something crazy. The marathon is 13 days away. That's less than two weeks. I'm not really sure how I'm feeling about that. I'm kind of at the point where I just want it to be done and over with. But maybe that's my nerves talking? I don't know. The whole thing is incredibly ...

So far, I am loving December! Things are clicking and falling together, and it's just so nice to feel like all the hard work is paying off.   Sunday - Divas 5K - 3.1 miles Angie and I were up before the sun so she could experience her first official 5K race. Even though it was ...

race report: space coast half marathon, race day {11.30.2014}

December 10, 2014      21 Comments

Read about the expo and the day before the Space Coast Half Marathon here. The 3:15 alarm came sooner than I would have liked, but it was race day! Yay, race day! We showered and dressed and collected our water bottles and fuels. After a last check to make sure we had our room keys, we ...

Boy, oh, boy, do I owe you some blog posts. I hate slacking this time of year. So much is going on and by the time I sit down to type at night, I end up distracted by last minute decorating, or baking, or online shopping. Or, as seems to be the case of late, going to bed at 8:00 PM and sleeping ...

What a day for speed work! I stayed off the bridge because of the cold temps and strong winds, but found a new route all the same. It definitely gave me some motivation and a challenge on International Women’s Day!

How was your morning activity?

Happy International Women’s Day! Today, we cele Happy International Women’s Day!

Today, we celebrate the achievements of our sisters around the world, and ourselves (because we are fabulous, too), as we #ChooseToChallenge in the name of outreach, awareness, solidarity, charity, and parity.

Let’s honor the best of each of us on this day!

Our Arrrowman is home! This weekend, A went off Our Arrrowman is home!

This weekend, A went off to his “Ordeal” for Order of the Arrow.

For over 100 years, the Order of the Arrow (OA) has recognized Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. Arrowmen are known for maintaining camping traditions and spirit, promoting year-round and long term resident camping, and providing cheerful service to others.

Candidates had to take a 24 hour vow of silence, sleep alone under the stars with just a tarp or groundsheet, spend a day in arduous labor, and do it all on scant rations.

He, his troop mates, and the other members of his group did an amazing job and should be so proud of themselves! We can’t wait to see where this adventure leads him next!

This is truly such a beautiful time. We are so fortunate to have such beautiful blooms this year. It definitely adds some much needed color after all the rain and gray.

I might have to take my hike to the azalea gardens this week to see even more of these beauties.

Got in a great walk, and now I’m off to pick up our newly initiated member of the OA! It’s a fabulous day!

What’s on your agenda?

Rain, rain, go away! But until then, I’m getting Rain, rain, go away! But until then, I’m getting after another ten miles!

It’s been a crazy week. A had lots of big papers and exams, Mr PugRunner is in the process of launching another incredible business venture, I learned how to administer an epi pen, and currently A is out on his “ordeal” (he was nominated for Order of the Arrow, in recognition of Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives.)

Grateful for running to help settle my nerves, keep me balanced, and serve as a reward for a full and productive week!

What does running provide for you?

Plus, we all got some fresh air and exercise and A allowed me to snap this moody photo. Everyone wins!
