race report: princess half marathon {2.21.2016}

March 30, 2016      22 Comments

Since this was Steph's first half marathon, she (understandably) had an awful night of sleep. Not that either of us got much anyway, considering we had to be up in time to catch a 3AM shuttle. RunDisney events do not favor those who enjoy sleep. It's a good thing we did leave the hotel room ...

With the first shuttle leaving the hotels at 3:30 AM, Steph and I had to be up early. Incredibly early. In fact, it was practically still Friday. I'm a morning person, but this was ridiculous. However, there was nothing to do but get up, get dressed and get out. We were on the first bus ...

rundisney princess half marathon weekend: expo & pre-race

March 10, 2016      13 Comments

On a happier note, let's start talking about the runDisney Princess Half Marathon weekend. I was mostly excited about this event (the other emotion was nervousness). For one, it's kind of a goal to do one of every runDisney event at some point. For another, this would be my first serious ...

Happy Leap Day! March starts tomorrow, so we are two months into the new year and everything is going mostly well. I had a little unexpected hiccup in the form of my hip, but hiccups are to be expected. In spite of everything, I was still able to get in some miles this week. They're still not ...

weekly recap: 2/7 – 2/13

February 16, 2016      21 Comments

With Mr PugRunner gone most of this week, my runs were more than a little lacking. And to be honest, the high winds weren't exactly enticing me to get out there and go. I did my best with the time I had, and it ended up being ok. Sunday - 10 miles S and I decided that we would each take on 10 ...

What a day for speed work! I stayed off the bridge because of the cold temps and strong winds, but found a new route all the same. It definitely gave me some motivation and a challenge on International Women’s Day!

How was your morning activity?

Happy International Women’s Day! Today, we cele Happy International Women’s Day!

Today, we celebrate the achievements of our sisters around the world, and ourselves (because we are fabulous, too), as we #ChooseToChallenge in the name of outreach, awareness, solidarity, charity, and parity.

Let’s honor the best of each of us on this day!

Our Arrrowman is home! This weekend, A went off Our Arrrowman is home!

This weekend, A went off to his “Ordeal” for Order of the Arrow.

For over 100 years, the Order of the Arrow (OA) has recognized Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. Arrowmen are known for maintaining camping traditions and spirit, promoting year-round and long term resident camping, and providing cheerful service to others.

Candidates had to take a 24 hour vow of silence, sleep alone under the stars with just a tarp or groundsheet, spend a day in arduous labor, and do it all on scant rations.

He, his troop mates, and the other members of his group did an amazing job and should be so proud of themselves! We can’t wait to see where this adventure leads him next!

This is truly such a beautiful time. We are so fortunate to have such beautiful blooms this year. It definitely adds some much needed color after all the rain and gray.

I might have to take my hike to the azalea gardens this week to see even more of these beauties.

Got in a great walk, and now I’m off to pick up our newly initiated member of the OA! It’s a fabulous day!

What’s on your agenda?

Rain, rain, go away! But until then, I’m getting Rain, rain, go away! But until then, I’m getting after another ten miles!

It’s been a crazy week. A had lots of big papers and exams, Mr PugRunner is in the process of launching another incredible business venture, I learned how to administer an epi pen, and currently A is out on his “ordeal” (he was nominated for Order of the Arrow, in recognition of Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives.)

Grateful for running to help settle my nerves, keep me balanced, and serve as a reward for a full and productive week!

What does running provide for you?

Plus, we all got some fresh air and exercise and A allowed me to snap this moody photo. Everyone wins!
