It’s happening again: the end of another month and the start of our July Runfessions! Would you believe it’s still hotter than Hades and we are still struggling through it? Fall would be such a relief.

For this month’s trip to the runfessional, let’s join up with Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
Let’s Start By Runfessing…
That I fell in love with Athens, GA. It’s a beautiful city with a great downtown and fantastic vibe. I’m not saying it’s where we will land, but it was a great start for the search. I think it checks a lot of boxes for us, but we also have room to explore more options.

Next, I’ll Runfess…
That I’m still lacking races this summer. Part of me is bummed, but it’s just too hot to want to do much of anything productive. Add that to the workload I’ve been carrying, and I’m not as upset about it as I thought I would be. Maybe August will be my month. In the meantime, it’s just me in the neighborhoods, slogging it out.

My Next Runfession Is…
I have stumbled upon a business idea that might serve Mr PugRunner and I after the nest empties. It’s a great feeling to be excited about something we can do together, and still maintain our current work situations, until we don’t have to or want to anymore. Mr PugRunner is all about entrepreneurial endeavors, and it would be nice to have him excited about something new, too (he’s run his current business successfully for almost 20 years). I’m in the process of research, numbers, and putting together an official plan, and it’s so energizing.

I Runfess…
That I did not cry at A’s senior photo session. Nope. Not one tear. He was so excited and I couldn’t imagine being sad.

Finally, I Would Runfess…
That even though I didn’t cry, senior year is fast approaching. We just finalized A’s senior schedule, he is back in band camp, and senior sunrise is right around the corner. I hope he’s excited, although I know he’s just ready to graduate and start his next chapter. His enthusiasm is incredible and that’s helping me from from being sad.

That’s exactly what kept me from being a crying mess about senior year. They are so ready and there are so many exciting things to look forward to. The year will be a whirlwind like no other though, so buckle in mama! As a parent of a Georgia Tech alum (UGA is their nemesis) I’ve learned to say THWG (to hell with Georgia!) haha! Seriously though it is a great school, should A decide on it.
HAHAHA! He doesn’t have any interest in UGA at all. His heart is set on University of Central Florida. Mr PugRunner is a huge college football fan (Miami Hurricanes), but where we live, it’s hard to really find a solid fandom. He would LOVE living in an SEC town, where everything shuts down for game day, whether you have tickets or not. Much as I don’t share the obsession, it would be so healthy for him to have that. And the Dawgs aren’t a rival like the Gators or Seminoles, so he wouldn’t mind rooting for them.
Your little guy is all grown up! It is fun to think about doing something different together with your husband in a few years. It’s hard to get motivated when the humidity is so bad!! Oh summer!
Soooo grown. And yes. It would be nice. We do have very compartmentalized lives, and I think it might be beneficial to have a shared goal. we will see how it works out!
Look at him, all grown up 😉 Like Marcia said, being happy , excited, and proud helps keep the tears in check during these monumental times. Get ready for a fast-moving senior year!
Love those photos!
Excited to hear how the business idea comes together.
I am skipping some of my usual summer races this year. I don’t want to feel discouraged.
Such great photos! Senior year is a wild, emotional, fun ride…enjoy every moment of it!
How exciting that you’ve started your search! I’ve heard good things about Athens – nice to get things started on a positive note!
Time goes so fast, doesn’t it? I can’t believe your son is going to be a senior! Enjoy all your time with him!
It will be so exciting watching to see where A lands next year! Equally fun to watch is where you and Mr. Pug Runner land and what this future joint endeavor might be.
Okay, I’ll tell you when you MIGHT cry. When they call you in to view the photos- in our case, they sat us down on a couch and showed us a little video of all the photos taken that day, accompanied by Green Day’s Time of Your Life. By the time it was done, tears were welling in my eyes and I exclaimed “I want them all!” Ha… yes we did spend way too much money and I now regret it.
ANYWAY. Athen, GA? I’m intrigued. My husband and I have also been talking about where we could potentially move (not any time soon- we don’t have a concrete plan like you guys). I’m definitely open to Georgia.
Yep, heat. It saps any desire I might have to do a summer race. Maybe we just need to wait till the weather cools down.
Wow, thinking of relocating and starting a new business— you are ready for some big changes.
My kids’ high school didn’t make a big deal out of senior portraits, but we got a lot from the sports teams. Somehow seening my son in his lacrosse gear wasn’t as emotional. 😉
Coco recently posted…Still A Sweaty Mess
I was pretty sure I already commented on this post but not seeing it? Anyhoo-It is emotional when they get to senior year and the prospect of change is real. It’s fun to think of ideas of how you and your husband might do something different in the furture
Oh I missed that you are potentially moving! How exciting. New races and restaurants and all kinds of excitement! I have heard Athens is lovely.
What wonderful senior photos!
My nephew went to school at the University of Georgia and most likely will be taking a job there, and continuing to live in Athens. I’ve never been, but he likes it a lot!
I’m very intrigued about your potential business idea. Looking forward to hearing more about that as you move along with plans!
