Another month is almost gone, and I think I’m ready for the next. I think. There were definitely some bright spots in July, but it’s also a month that marks the beginning of big changes, and dynamic shifts. I’m usually ok at flexible, but this year has required quite a bit of rolling with the punches, and I’d like to be done with that for awhile, if at all possible.

Sunday
- Cardio: 4.79 miles, walking
The day started with a nice walk. Fortunately, the pets I am with right now are very much on my timetable, so it hasn’t been hard to make it all work.

Mr PugRunner and I have been trading off driving A places if we both need the car, and I was on deck to pick him up from his girlfriend’s house. When I told him I was on my way, he let me know that Mr. Softee was at the amenity center, if I was interested. Well… It was National Ice Cream Day, so yes, yes I was. We both got cups of twist with sprinkles.

Monday
- Cardio: 5.32 miles running
A big Monday started with a nice run.

And it was the first day of band camp! Our band does 8-noon and 4-8PM practices four days a week for their summer band camp, and so they are off to a great start.

Yes, it was Monday, but my old PTA/PTSO crew got together for a Mumus And Margaritas party. We all brought Mexican dips and snacks, and splurged on margaritas! We also played Left Right Center, and would you believe I won all three games????!!!! Huge night! Also, can we please get back to mumus? They are so adorable and comfortable!

Tuesday
- Cardio: 5.18 miles, running + .42 miles, walking
Morning came early and hard. I didn’t really drink too much, so it wasn’t terrible, but it would have been nice to stay in bed. Oh, well. There was definitely something off in the air, and it shouldn’t have come as a huge shock that we got poured on for a few minutes! The raindrops were so big I almost thought it was hail!

Fortunately, it kept things cool so my midday dog walk was pleasant.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 6.7 miles, walking
I really look forward to my walk days in the middle of the week. It’s a nice break, while still moving forward.

We just barely beat the rain storm when I walked my client at lunch time. The thunder came pretty loudly, but thankfully, it didn’t phase her at all.
Thursday
- Cardio: 6.36 miles, running + .44 miles, walking
This was the earliest I managed to get out of the house this week, and it felt good. Temps are still almost 80 before the sunrise, with super high humidity, so it’s not great, but it’s manageable if you go slow and easy.

Midday, I added almost 1/2 mile with my last dog walk of the week.
The bad weather (heat and rain) is making my hips and ankle fairly stiff and a little achy, but I’m powering through. I’m trying to keep my feet up and get in some decent stretches, but you know what they say about good intentions.
Friday
- Cardio: 5.12 miles, running
I’m really so happy that J is joining me at the tail end of my runs. It’s been a hard summer with heat, illness, and injury, but I love our cooldowns. I just have to remember to take a photo with her!

The boys left for Atlanta at o’dark thirty so I spent the day bouncing around to the pugs and all the other pets I’m watching. We got a good system down and i felt pretty accomplished when I crawled into bed that night.
Saturday
- Cardio: 4.06 miles, walking
I would have loved a few more miles this morning, but I also wanted a little sleep too.

Since the boys are out of town, I’m pulling double duty between the pugs and some clients. It’s not hard, but it does take some time and scheduling to make it all work. It will be good to report from my own bed over the next week… at least until Friday!
Thoughts + Goals
I’m kind of bummed over the lack of gym time, but sometimes real world activity is just as good. After all, I wrangled enough animals this week to help me close all my circles with ease, so that has to be a win.
Additionally, I’m looking forward to a few days at home on my own. The boys are out of town, and I can dig into some deep cleaning that has gone neglected. I’ve already done all the bedding (along with shams and comforters) and maybe I can get the pugs scrubbed and cleaned up, too. That would be ideal.

Weekly Rundown
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!

We had band camp too this week! Our kids went 9-5, but they aren’t outside all the time (obviously- that would be terrible). Our first football game is durin the first week of school, so only a few weeks away. I’m excited!
You’re doing great with all your runs and walks. You’ll get back to the gym at some point, but right now it sounds like it’s impossible with your schedule.
Enjoy your alone time!
I think our first game is the end of August? I’ve kind of blocked that part out. I’m hoping to get to the gym today.
You do so much fun and to me, unusual stuff! A Mumus and margarita party? So cool.
You’re doing so well to keep up your running and walking despite the hot weather and being so busy!
It was hilarious and it was so nice. Sometimes, we just all make a dish and get together – it’s not even perfectly organized… the one friend actually found her mumu on a local neighborhood page and picked it up as she was driving over.
That heat must make it tough for the kids at band camp! Is this your son’s last year of band camp?
I remember my mom wearing muumuus when I was a kid. Not sure I want to go down that road, lol!
This it the last one! I can’t believe it!
Listen. The mumu is colorful and flowy and glamorous. Plenty of room for tacos! I am DOWN!
Mumu and margaritas is a new one! Looks like you all had fun. Way to power through the heat and get your workouts in.
Hey you can’t do it all.
It’s so inspiring that you get out everyday.
LRC is such a fun game…. who wouldn’t want to wear a mumu?
I love muumuus! I keep meaning to venture to the new shop on the high street which is mainly a hijab shop but has a rack of bright muumuus just inside!
The mumus & margs party does sound fun. It makes me think of the trending (in Des Moines, at least) “Mrs. Roper” nights at some of the bars, LOL. I love color & comfort, but I don’t think I could bring myself to take part…
Aw, it was so fun! And all the women had a blast – amazing that we all found different ones to wear!
I’m impressed with how many miles you are getting in this heat+humidity! I can’t stand it very much anymore 🙁 And here, it’s still in mid to upper 80s in the evening. I am done after about 30 minutes lol
I am also slightly impressed there’s a Mrs Roper trend somewhere! Is Three’s Company making a comeback?
LOL at Mrs. Roper trend. I don’t know. Maybe we’ve just reached an age where we don’t care anymore and want to swan about in our comfiest outfits.
I’m not saying these miles are fast. Or even mediocre. They’re just getting done.
Getting done is absolutely valid and great! I ran yesterday and today and just managed to get 2 miles in today (I’ve fallen far since the Great Balloon Chase lol 🙂 ).
Awww! That’s ok! You got out there!
