September 18 is National Cheeseburger Day, and while I love a classic burger as much as the next person, sometimes it’s fun to shake things up. Enter the viral cheeseburger bowl: all the flavor of a cheeseburger, but without the bun. It’s lighter, customizable, and perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or meal prep.
This bowl has everything you love about your favorite burger meal: crispy fries, melty cheese, crinkle cut pickles, and even that signature burger sauce. The best part? You can make it in less time than it takes to hit the drive-thru.

Ingredients
- 1 bag of your favorite shoestring fries (air fryer or oven-ready)
- 1 lb ground chicken (or beef/turkey, if you prefer)
- your favorite seasoning to taste (we used Mrs. Dash Garlic & Herb)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- cups shredded lettuce
- 1 cup heirloom tomatoes, diced
- ½ red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup of your favorite burger pickles (these are Backyard Brine Sweet Heat)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Burger Sauce:
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1-2 tbsp mustard
- 1/4 cup sweet relish
- 1 tsp white wine vinegar
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
Directions
- Make your burger sauce: Mix all burger sauce ingredients together in a small bowl until smooth. For best results, chill in the fridge in an airtight container for an hour (or even overnight)
- Cook the fries: Air fry or bake your shoestring fries until crispy.
- Brown the meat: In a skillet, cook the ground chicken with Mrs. Dash or your favorite seasonings, and salt and pepper to taste.
- Assemble your bowl: Start with a base of fries, then layer on lettuce, seasoned ground chicken, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and cheese.
- Drizzle and enjoy: Top your cheeseburger bowl with burger sauce and dig in!

Why You’ll Love It
- Quick & easy: Ready in under 30 minutes.
- Customizable: Use your favorite protein or veggies. You can even sub in tater tots or sweet potato fries!
- Meal prep friendly: Store the components separately and assemble when ready.
- Fun & viral: A playful twist on a classic burger!
This cheeseburger bowl is a fun way to celebrate National Cheeseburger Day, or any day you’re craving those classic flavors. Pair it with an iced tea (or a milkshake if you’re feeling bold), and you’ve got comfort food in a bowl.
