As 2025 comes to a close, it’s always fun to go back to see how the snapshot of the year, especially how it related to running. This was certainly a year of fewer races and shorter distances, but that’s ok. Every year comes with its own story. Let’s check it out.

January
The year started strong with another addition to my 50 States goal. The Casino Bridge Run in Biloxi, Mississippi was a cold and windy challenge, but it ended with a cool medal, a beer, and a moon pie. Perfection.

February
Our next journey took us to Safety Harbor for the Best Damn Race Safety Harbor 10K. This was a fun one with friends. Again, the weather wasn’t the prettiest, but the event did offer Girl Scout cookies as fuel, so how could you go wrong?

March
It was a busy month, and while this wasn’t the race I hoped to be running, the March To Get Screened is a good one for a wonderful cause (colon cancer awareness). WIth a new course location, and tons of leaning into the little poop emoji, it was very worthwhile.

Intermission
There was no bling for the months of April through August. We had a rough year and my race habit was one of the cuts we made while sorting things out. Yes, I was sad, but I kept running, waiting for the day when I could start registering again.
September
And we’re back, baby! I opened the month with the RunJax Labor Day 5K. It’s nothing glamorous, but I was happy to do it.

And I did not say no when Mr PugRunner asked me to join him for the Tunnels To Towers 5K in memory of 9/11.

October
October started strong at the DONNA 5K at TPC Sawgrass, in support of breast cancer.

And then we skipped ahead to the Evergreen Pumpkin Run 5k! If anyone would like to comment on why all my races this year are held in the dreariest of condtions, I’d love a reason.

November
The end of the year is upon us and I’m not letting up! I was able to score yet another state when I took on the Brown County YMCA Hilly Half 5K in Indiana. It’s not the race I WANTED to run in Indiana, but it’s the race that was there when I was, so I took it.

And then it was on to the local Turkey Trot!

December
On Saturday, I ran my last race of 2025: The Spiked Apple 5K. I’m a sucker for stained glass.

And there we have it. While I like to average one race per month for a total of 12, in 2025 I only ran ten events. I’ve got my sights set on next year, when I will absolutely run more races, claim more states, and find a race with some pretty weather!
How was your bling in 2025? What’s your favorite medal?
