Running Through The Heavy Days

September 13, 2025      Leave a Comment

Oooof. This was a week. The anniversary of September 11 is always difficult, but the increasing violence and tensions seem to escalate on the daily.

Sunday

  • Cardio: 5.39 miles, walking

After my morning walk, we tidied up the house and my parents came over to celebrate Grandparents Day with a meal. It was nice to spend time with them, and my mom brought her famous macaroni salad, which is my favorite thing ever.

Monday

  • Cardio: 7.22 miles, running + walking

It was another gorgeous morning for a run so I took full advantage. I even extended my intervals a bit, which boosted my confidence and motivation.

I also made this Vegan Chili With Apples from Make It Dairy Free per Mr. PugRunner’s request. I am in soup season, and this was pretty good. We are not vegan, so we did serve it with shredded cheese and sour cream.

Tuesday

  • Cardio: 4.77 miles, running + .69 miles, walking

I was dragging on Tuesday in all the ways. I woke up to huge storms, so I stayed in bed until the weather cleared. Of course, I got in a decent run and made up for the rest of it with a dog walk. At least it’s been getting cooler so my puppy clients aren’t quite as hot.

Wednesdsay

  • Cardio: 7.48 miles, walking

I started my day with a walk for me, and then I had two walks with two different dogs scheduled. The first was a much longer excursion with my sweet regular, while the second was a walk with a new client super close to home. It was nice to mix things up.

Yes, my porch is already showing signs of Halloween.

Thursday

  • Cardio: 3.54 miles, running + 3.53 miles, walking

I don’t think I could have walked out all the sadness and bad feelings if I tried. Things are so ugly and it devastates me, in addition to being the 24th anniversary of 9/11.

I tried to shake it all off, and enjoyed both a run, and a long walk, part of which was with my new client.

The rest of the day was sort of a wash, and that’s ok. Sometimes, you just need to read and wallow around.

Friday

  • Cardio: 6.92 miles, running

Deep breaths. It’s Friday. And the temperatures were low: 70F! I hadn’t planned to run, but I couldn’t let that go to waste.

When I rolled up to the house, I got a text that said French toast was being plated! Yes! I am always down for a hot, fresh breakfast!

I had a chill day at home, catching up on some work, and then headed over to the school. It’s Homecoming weekend and we were serving dinner to the band, as well as seeing their performance before the game (he’s got a woodwind feature, and also helps out with color guard, as our guard is super small this year). I love volunteering with the band, and I will be so sorry when that comes to an end.

Oh, and of course, I set out my flat runner/walker for tomorrow.

Saturday

  • Cardio: Tunnel To Towers 5K

Mr PugRunner asked me to join him for the Tunnel To Towers 5K. It’s a memorial event that is incredibly important to him, so I agreed. It’s always inspiring, and I have a race report scheduled for this week.

In the evening, we headed out to celebrate a family friend’s birthday! It was a fun time and we had a hotel room for the night, so we could enjoy ourselves a little more. It was nice to end a crappy week with a lovely time with people we adore.

Thoughts + Goals

I don’t have much to say this week. I’m tired in my soul. We need to be better and do better. Period.

It was a beautiful morning that turned quickly into a beautiful day. Sundays are hard because they are immediately followed by Mondays, and Mondays are hard.

Lots to catch up on this week! April is chock full of holidays, birthdays, days off, and events, so let’s get to it!

About this morning… I was up and out early to d About this morning…

I was up and out early to drive to Flagler Beach for the #Missionpossible5k.

It was a small, well organized event, with an easy-to-follow course (the last mile was almost exclusively an ocean view), with great shirts and swag.

I was really pleased with my performance, and even more pleased with this beach sunrise. I’ll share more on the #RunnersRundown on Wednesday, so stay tuned!

Where did you run or race this weekend?

Oh, hello long sleeves. I’m here for it. So goo Oh, hello long sleeves. I’m here for it.

So good to stretch the legs today. I was super sore after a @runsmartofficial cross training session last night, and needed to just get out there and let the fresh air work its magic.

What are you up to today? I really need to take a moment with my calendar and get some plans locked into place.

Check out those blue skies! I got to sleep in AND Check out those blue skies!

I got to sleep in AND take advantage of some cooler temps. It really didn’t warm up until my last mile and that was just fine.

I feel like this month and next are really just flying by. So much is going on, and I want so badly to enjoy it all, including the crisp, sunny days where we find them!

Happy Monday! I don’t know about you all, but y Happy Monday!

I don’t know about you all, but your girl is TIRED. It is so hard to roll out of bed some mornings. Ugh.

I managed (finally) and banked six miles in some gross humidity. And now it’s time for some self care and then back to work.

Also. We have somehow acquired a pecan tree? Any tips on the growth and care of this would be greatly appreciated!

Sunday fun day! Just a short walk to start the da Sunday fun day!

Just a short walk to start the day and work out some stiffness. Some days, my ankle just doesn’t want to cooperate 🫤

I have been making graphics and content all day for a client, and now I’m about to do hair and makeup for a little event. Wheee!

This week is going to be BUSY! There’s a lot of changes to the regular routines (nails, a digital learning day, after school and weekend programming) and I have a race on Saturday and bocce ball on Sunday!

Who else is ready to dive in?!
