Y’all, this week TRIED me. Every day was something new, and I am rolling into this weekend with high hopes for a break. We had lots on the schedule, but a lot that was in flux, too. I’m trying to roll with all of it, but your girl needs a minute to catch her breath.

Sunday
- Cardio: 3.16 miles, walking
We woke up to another pretty gloomy and drizzly day. I managed to get out for a nice walk before the rain started coming down.

In the afternoon, my mom joined me for an ornament making class. We had the best time creating gorgeous ornaments for our respective trees, and then we met the guys for dinner. We are definitely going to take more classes like this.

Monday
- Cardio: 6.63 miles, running
The weather was great for a nice run.

And then we headed off to the bank to deal with the transfer of some documents and accounts. This is the least fun part of adulting. Seriously.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 4.62 miles, running + 4.19 miles, walking
Did I almost get hit by a car today? Sure did! The driver was NOT paying attention, and almost blew through a stop sign while I was in the pedestrian walkway. She realized her error, rolled down her window and apologized profusely. I promised not to blast her on the neighborhood facebook page, but I did give her a lecture, which she, to her credit, accepted. I hope she is safer.

After my run, I met a friend for a walk and coffee. It aws a lot of miles and I loved it.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 5.76 miles, walking
I really do love walking days. It’s a great way to break up the week.

I had one dog walk, and then I met my parents back at my house for a big day of baking. We thought it might be a fun way to slog through all the cookies! We managed a ton of them! I have three other varieties not pictures. I’m planning to box them up for gifts.

Thursday
- Cardio: 4.19 miles, running + .44 miles, walking
Oh, this morning started horribly. First, I forgot to unpause my watch and lost a good chunk of miles. Then, the last minute client I accepted sprung on me that she had cats in addition to the dog I was watching, which meant we had to rebook the whole job (I love cats, but it’s so important that everyone is aware how many animals will be on the premises). I was so distracted on my run, but we got it all sorted. I also forgot to start my watch and lost a chunk of miles. Boo.

After my first drop in, I headed in to the dermatologist because of the thing on my ear. The NP confirmed my suspicions that it was most likely squamous cell carcinoma, and before I even knew what was happening, they numbed me, took a sample, stitched me up, and booked a followup. They told me that they’ll most likely be referring me to a surgeon to have it completely removed, and I’m kind of dealing with the possibility of losing a chunk of my ear.
On the plus side, my doggy client was absolute perfection. I canceled our dinner reservations, put on comfy clothes, and took to the couch for the rest of the night.
Friday
- Cardio: 5.27 miles, walking
I’m not supposed to get my heart rate up for a few days, so I figured a nice walk was a fair compromise.

I met a friend for lunch, and in the evening, we went to A’s last winter showcase. It was a loooong show (almost 3 hours). All the performers were incredible and I was so proud (even though I was so sad that this will be his last winter showcase). On the plus side, we won the Whataburger prize box at the raffle! It includes a really great stainless water cup, socks, sunnies, golf balls, an LED burger sign and a year of free burgers! Whoo hoo!

Saturday
- Cardio: 3.63 miles, walking
Another walking day. Neat. At least the pugs were fun companions.
I took some much needed down time to do a little work and nap. The cold and dreary weather has made it nearly impossible to feel any level of motivation, and honestly, I could use the down time.
That night, we went out on a catamaran for the Nights of Lights. With all the crowds and traffic, it’s really the best way to see everything.
Thoughts + Goals
I am tired, and behind, and maybe a little unwell. I want the magic and I want a nap.
This weekend, I commit to finishing the tree and getting back some of the holiday spirit. Period.
