I took it easy again this week. I knew it would be a crazy busy weekend, with a race and lots of events, and I didn’t see the point of driving myself crazy with the running schedule.’
Sunday – rest
Our dear friend gave us tickets to see the Jaguars vs Browns game at Everbank Field, and we were happy to spend the day, enjoying the game and the gorgeous weather. It was also the first game the Jags won all season, so we considered ourselves extra lucky.
Monday – 3.1 miles
I felt super incredibly fast today. And it was a great feeling! I loved it!
Tuesday – rest
I spent the morning at a Box Tops counting party at one of my PTA friend’s houses. It was nice to sit and chat with some of the other moms. Later on, I worked concessions for little man’s baseball team. It was kind of a late night, but I’m glad to give back when I can.
Wednesday – rest
This Wednesday was a slow day all the way around. I worked on cleaning the house and finishing up some of the Halloween decorations.
Thursday – 3.1 miles
Another flying kind of day. I am loving all this chilly weather. It’s giving me wings!
Friday – rest
Little man had the day off, so we slept in a little, and then just spent some time hanging out. There were errands to be run, and we met up with the grandparents for lunch and to get our packets for Sunday’s race. (LOVED these shirts!)
Afterwards, little man went to batting practice and after a sushi dinner, we carved one of our Halloween pumpkins.
I think it’s appropriate 🙂
Saturday – rest
We had some plans for Saturday. After little man’s baseball game, he went off to his grandparents for the night and we packed our things for a night downtown. Mr PugRunner wanted to enjoy a nice dinner, and then not have to rush to the starting line, so it made sense to stay closer to the race.
Dinner was divine. We ate at Black Sheep for the first time, and loved the rooftop dining.
The service and food was exceptional. We enjoyed some delicious wine, delicious fried olives with homemade pimiento cheese and salt and vinegar chips with a yummy fondue dip. Mr PugRunner had some kind of pork shank with smashed cauliflower and I devoured their take on shrimp and grits, garnished with pickled veggies. Yum.
The sunset was unbelievable.
We will definitely be returning.
Afterwards, we took a cab to BB’s, which was right by our hotel. They have great dinner, and exceptional desserts, and Mr. PugRunner and I splurged a bit.
I couldn’t even make a dent in this Boston Cream Pie inspired cake. I figured that since we were walking back to our hotel and had a 10 mile race in the morning, it could fall under “carb-loading.”
So, all in all, a rather down week. That’s about to change, though 🙂
When you do date nights, do you prefer trying new places or going to old favorites?
Do you carve pumpkins for Halloween? Do you go more traditional or try to get fancy?

I absolutely love your pumpkin….too cute. Hopefully your race went well on Sunday after all that delicious food on Saturday night. The race shirts are great and a perfect thing to wear this Friday while you hand out candy to the trick or treat kids.

Thank you! The race was GREAT! I think we ate early enough that it didn’t sit and cause issues later (at least, not for me)! I do have a semi costume for Friday, but it’s the comfiest of shirts, and I wore it all day yesterday with my yoga pants 🙂 Congratulations on MCM! I was so happy for you!

Sounds like you all had a great week! Nice work on the faster runs too!
I haven’t done a pumpkin in FOREVER! I always say I will, but then I don’t. I love Halloween, but I live on a busy state road, so I don’t get trick or treaters. After several years of decorating like crazy and buying lots of candy, I kind of gave up on it. But my niece is coming by this year, so I will definitely have some treats for her 🙂 I have a fake pumpkin I carved a few years ago, and it’s still going to strong. I’ll put that one out at least.
I haven’t been on a date in FOREVER. So sad. If you know any nice eligible gentleman in the New England area, give them my number 😉

They are so much fun to carve! I keep thinking about getting fake ones, and then I cave and get real ones.
I wish I did know someone up there for you. 🙁

I couldn’t agree more about the cooler weather and feeling like it gives you wings 🙂

Nothing wrong with a down week . . . they can be quite useful to slingshot training for the next week.
I’m entering the taper phase for the marathon . . . that my longest run has been 16 has me worried.
I miss desserts.

Desserts are wonderful 🙂
16 would scare me, too, but I know you’re going to be fine. Tapering is never fun, so I hope it flies by for you.
