weekly recap: 3/2 – 3/8

March 16, 2015      12 Comments

This was a race week, so I tried to take it a little easy. I didn’t have a chance to get to boot camp, but that’s changing soon. I think I am at a point where I have my schedule worked out so I can start adding stuff back in.

Sunday – rest

We slept in a little after the wedding, and because of Daylight Saving Time. Unfortunately, we had a long drive home, so we loaded up on breakfast and started the drive northward. On the plus side, the weather was clear and there wasn’t any traffic, so it wasn’t too awful. We were all exhausted and went to bed pretty early.

Monday – 3.1 miles

It was a pretty day and I was excited for a run.

Afterwards, I did all the grocery shopping (blah) and took little man to karate. He is learning so many great things.

Tuesday – rest

After morning drop off, I headed to work.

It was a pretty great day, and it was nice to come home for a yummy dinner and more karate.

And a gratuitous pug shot.

This is the face I get when I don’t give her table scraps. Diva.

Wednesday – rest

After work, we all took a little break. Little man’s homework was done, so he went outside to ride bikes and play with his friends and we just enjoyed having nothing to do.

Thursday – rest

I spent the morning at school, finishing up some things for the run-a-thon. I had to hit the grocery store, and pick up a new sports bra for Saturday.

I ended up with this one, from Athleta.

It’s incredibly soft and comfortable, and I like the cutouts in the back.

I picked up little man from the bus stop – it was his last day of school before spring break – and we headed right back out for his baseball game. We got home very late and I was pretty happy to get to bed.

Friday – 2 miles

I was edgy and needed to stretch my legs in the worst way.  Since school was out, so I went for a very quick run after little man’s breakfast, and then it was time to pick up some last minute things at the store and finish packing.

We met up with my parents at a fish camp and enjoyed a really nice lunch before kissing little man goodbye and heading to pick up our packets at the expo for the GATE River Run.

We browsed for a while and ran into a bunch of friends, which was nice. We picked up a few random things, and then checked into the Omni in Jacksonville.

After dinner, we enjoyed dinner and rented a movie in our room. So exciting.

Saturday – 9.45 miles

GATE River Run day! I was pretty excited for this one. Recap to come later this week! It was a tough race – very hot and humid – but I loved it.

It felt great having my miles up again, even if most of them did come from a 15K race. To the best of my knowledge, my next big race is a half marathon in September, although I do plan on some 5Ks and 10Ks between now and then.

My goals are going to be working on different terrains, as best I can, and doing a better job with my hydration and nutrition.

There are just a few more days to enter to win two entries to the 2015 March To Get Screened Run Walk 5K event. Don’t miss out on joining us for this wonderful race.

Sounds like another great week! Can’t wait to read your recap of the Gate River Run. I love the medal! (Clearly that’s the most important thing about racing right? That and the shirts… no?)
Funny thing about grocery shopping… I don’t actually hate it. But I never want to do it. I’ve found going on the late side is better since it’s not crowded. Living alone, I can procrastinate for quite awhile… but I really have to go. Like soon. For dinner last night I had a leftover slice of pizza and some frozen corn…. which was pretty much the last of the food in the house.
As far as sports bra’s… I have no boobs. I mean they’re there… but not enough to stress over support. So I don’t really have a favorite. As long as it doesn’t pinch or chafe, I’m good to go!

OMG, it is SO the most important thing! The shirts were cute, too.

I try to shop in the morning after I drop little man at school. That usually guarantees it’s pretty empty. But I despise every second of it.

I don’t have a huge chest, but I am particular about how the straps sit on my shoulders. Even with bathing suits, pressure on the wrong spot on my back, neck or shoulders can make me absolutely insane.

I’m looking forward to your race recap! I like that 15k distance. But you have been having some really hot weather! I was supposed to do a half in Sarasota this past weekend, but had to change my plans. I did one here, and as it turns out, the backup plan was a good one. You just never know, right?

It’s a fantastic distance and a great race. Just waiting on the photos to come in 🙂

Yeah, it’s been hot as heck around here. We skipped spring entirely, I think. LA and Sarasota also had some ridiculous temperatures – it definitely adds a challenge to the race day. Glad you had a backup plan!

Target used to have some good ones, but the style changed and now they don’t fit me quite as well anymore.

      Recap to come soon!

Sounds like a great week! I am a big fan of the Champion bras at Target. They aren’t expensive and they get the job done!

The Champion bras used to be great, but when the style change,d I had a hard time with them. It’s too bad, because I love Target so much.

Hot, humid, and fun- I agree 100%. I bought a new sports bra to the race too haha! I went with a lululemon bra. I am super picky and theirs strike the right balance between comfort and support.
