I can’t believe it’s here. I could have sworn I just registered.
Today, I am heading up to Savannah for a weekend of friends, racing, laughter, and lots of bling.
Savannah is one of my favorite cities – every time I visit, I discover something new and wonderful. I haven’t visited in November before and I’m excited to see what the city has in store.
Of course, I’ll also be participating in not one, but THREE races. I’m not really sure how that happened. I mean, Saturday’s half marathon was kind of a given as the whole point of the trip. And then while I was there, I figured I could throw in the 5K on Sunday. I mean, why not?
But then Rock ‘n’ Roll and Pie Society announced the Sweet Georgia Pie Challenge, where if you run the 5K and 1 Mile races on Sunday, you earn a personal-sized Sweet Georgia Pie… Well, I really like pie. So 17.2 miles, here I come!
What am I hoping for out this weekend?
To run by this fountain with a smile instead of tears.
The last time I ran through Forsyth Park, it was in shame and tears as I cut myself from a half marathon distance to a 5K. Time for some form of redemption.
To have a great time with my friends.
I have quite a few running buddies who I mostly get to see online, so the chance to actually hang out with them is pretty awesome. I can’t wait to enjoy the runs and playing tourist with some of my favorites.
Have confidence in myself.
Saturday’s half is going to be good. The weather promises to be ideal (high 40s in the early morning!) and I’m feeling pretty good. I’ve got this. Really.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Are you racing this weekend? Tell us about it!
