Racing on holidays has quickly become a tradition in my world. There’s just something about kicking off a commemorative day with a (hopefully themed) road race.
The Celebration Run 5K, by 1st Place Sports, is a red, white and blue extravaganza!
Report to the Baymeadows location of 1st Place Sports on Tuesday, July 4, for a race start of 7:30 AM. Runners will sport their red, white and blue gear for a flat, fast 5K route through some lovely neighborhoods.
Want to show a little extra star-spangled spirit? Carry a full size American flag with you for the run.
Registration includes a gender-specific t-shirt, and all runners will receive a custom finisher medal.
After the race, stick around for the post-celebration party! There will be a patriotic costume contest, and plenty of food and drink, including beer and watermelon! Don’t miss out on the seed-spitting and watermelon eating contests, too!
Register online until or at any 1st Place Sports location to be part of the fun!
And speaking of watermelon, Tropical Smoothie Cafe has unveiled their new Watermelon Mojito Smoothie.
If watermelon is refreshing on its own, imagine how much better it is blended with lime and mint. Grab one from Tropical Smoothie Cafe on your way home from the race or en route to your Independence Day party!
How will you be celebrating 4th of July?
What’s your favorite way to enjoy watermelon?
