Friends, I do love our coffee dates, but I am looking forward to turning over a fresh page and enjoying coffee in 2021.
Join us for this month’s Ultimate Coffee Date. After reading here, head on over to visit Coco and Deborah, our awesome link-up hosts.
So let’s go…
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That, baby, it is COLD outside. I’m talking about having to be all bundled up in layers and gloves. We have the heat on, and if I don’t have to leave the cocoon of the house, I don’t. I literally had to buy Luna a sweater, because she is straight up refusing walks at this point. For a day or two, it’s fine, but this is not how things should be in the Sunshine State.
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That on a coffee-related note, I really want to try the new Dunkin Sugarplum Macchiato. It’s so pretty! I don’t really drink the more elaborate coffee creations (my normal orders are an iced coffee with cream at Dunkin, and an iced coffee with one shot of raspberry and cream at Starbucks), but this one just calls to me. Should I do it? Just for research purposes?
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That our Elf is back. And in 25-day quarantine. I really didn’t think it would be a “thing” this year, but a few days ago, A started asking, so we sent our request to the North Pole, and Sparkle returned to us. It’s a shame she has to stay masked up in that Jar…
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That, most nights, I take myself into our front room, sit on the couch in front of the lit-up Christmas tree, and read. This is the first time we have an actual sitting area in that part of the house, and I am taking full advantage. Usually, by the end of the day, my nerves are so fried from all the noise and sensory overload that I need this quiet time. The bad news is I blow through books, so these are almost finished, but I can always get more.
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That I am so excited for Christmas. I’ve got some wonderful gifts picked out for people. We are still doing our social distancing, but there are some events and drive-through and outdoor lights we can visit. It’s mostly working out fine, and I’m happy to be a part of it all.
And there it is.
How about you? Are you ready for this year to end? What would you tell me over coffee?
Darlene S Cardillo says
yes try that coffee and report back.
I bet your temps are warm again!
Where the crawdads sing was such a great book. I read a lot too. I prefer it to TV.
Not much in the mood for shopping this year. No one really needs a thing. My kids are grown and they buy what they want.
And no parties to go to this year so no grab bag gifts to buy either.
runswithpugs says
I prefer movies to shows, but books to all.
I’ve been on a shopping kick. It’s weird because I never shop, but now it’s all weird stuff. Like I want new dishes, and baking pans and pots. But not for Christmas lol. Just to have.
Michelle D. says
Oh, I think you have to give that coffee a go š
The quarantined Elf cracks me up! LOL!
runswithpugs says
The quarantined Elf was my victory of the year.
Deborah Brooks says
I think it’s really funny that you think it’s cold! I love to run in those temps. Did you think it was easier or harder? I am not a coffee flavor person but sounds like you really want it so I say treat yourself you deserve it
runswithpugs says
Well, it’s just what we’re used to!
In some ways it’s easier. However, my Raynaud’s acts up, which makes it difficult. And we have to wear more clothes which can be a challenge, when you’re used to never having on sleeves or long pants. Our lungs aren’t used to the cold air, either, so that can be tough. But it’s nice to have a change and it’s nice not to melt in a puddle the second you step outside.
Coco says
OK, how cold is it? 50? š
OMG, is the Elf unable to do antics due to covid restrictions? That would be one good thing about the pandemic. (I could never keep up with the stress of having to be so creative every day!)
I loved both of those books, even though they were so different!
I hope you get the Dunkin, and tell us how it was.
runswithpugs says
It’s gotten as low as 35 this week, thank you very much! LOL! It’s COLD!
The Elf is antic-free. Hard to do anything in an airtight jar. Darn the luck.
Loved Where the Crawdads Sing and just started The Testaments. I love Margaret Atwood and thought The Handmaid’s Tale was brilliant, so I am excited to get going on that.
Wendy says
I loved Where the Crawdads Sing. One of my favorite books of all time. I hope you do too!
I saw that DD coffee but I think I’ll let you do the research…
runswithpugs says
Hahahaha! Research done. It was decent. Sweeter than I prefer because I don’t put sugar in coffee at all, but not awful.
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
I loved Where the Crawdads Sing. Enjoy! And yes I think you need to try the sugarplum macchiato, just for research purposes.
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie recently posted…Weekly Eats: A Four Day Weekend!
runswithpugs says
It was such a wonderfully written book! I had it figured out, and then I wasn’t sure, and then bam! Loved it!
I tried it! It was definitely decent.
Laurie says
I do think you need to try the new coffee at Dunkin’. Just for research purposes, of course. It’s almost like a science lab.
I can just picture you sinning beside your Christmas tree reading. So cozy! Hope you enjoy Where the Crawdads Sing.
runswithpugs says
Did it! It was decent. I don’t think I could drink more than once a year but I’m glad I did it. And the purple made me happy.
It was a brilliant book! I enjoy that reading time so much.
Farrah says
I’m also very much looking forward to a fresh page, haha. :/
I read Where the Crawdads Sing this year! It was a great book! I’m glad you’ve been able to set aside some time to read! :]
runswithpugs says
It was fabulous! I didn’t think it would be anything like what it was and I was so pleasantly surprised!
Catrina says
Oh wow, cold temperatures! I was in Florida once when it was freezing cold. I didn’t think that could happen so I didn’t have the right running gear with me. These were some of my coldest runs!
I hope it gets warmer soon!
runswithpugs says
It’s ridiculous! The humidity makes it feel even colder!
Chocolaterunsjudy says
Who isnāt ready for 2020 to end? I donāt think 2021 will start out well, but Iām definitely hoping it ends on a much better note.
All my dogs have hated clothes. Bandit wriggled out of every sweater we tried so I stopped trying!
Nothing wrong with blowing through books!
runswithpugs says
No, but it will start, and starting is half the battle. Or something like that LOL!
The pugs are decent with clothes. They better be: I have big plans for a family pajama photo. š
It gets expensive. I don’t like the library (I mean, I love the idea of the library, but I’m weird about all the handling of the books), and I prefer a print copy to e-reader. That being said, there are stacks of books all over the house, and they are all mine (the boys don’t read).
Marcia says
I’m pretty sure I’ve not had a single “fancy” drink since the pandemic started back in March. Not a single holiday cup either. So yes, do the research. Sadly I suspect 2020 will end but Covid won’t go along with it immediately. I’m getting my head around that.
runswithpugs says
It wasn’t bad! Definitely a once a year kind of thing for me, but not awful!
I know COVID won’t go, but I feel like having a new year is kind of a clean slate and will give me some refreshed energy and motivation. At least that’s what I’m telling myself š
Kimberly Hatting says
All of my cold weather biking in October afforded me an “early acclimation,” so I’ve been in shorts a few times this week (temps were in the mid-40F’s). And, I’m the cold weather hater LOL
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Poor Sparkle! The CDC has shortened the quarantine time so she can get out of that jar after ten days. Just sayin’… š
I’m not a coffee drinker at all, but I think you should try that coffee if it’s calling your name!
runswithpugs says
Ten days. Twenty five days. Who’s keeping track?
I did! It called and it was lovely!
