This week, everything felt like a giant game of catch up. I’m not sure how I got so far behind, but… here we are. Some weeks are like that, I guess. It was not a stellar week for workouts, but we did get plenty of family time, and we started celebrating for A’s 13th birthday next week.

Sunday – 3.07 miles, walking + SSOD Abs + Arms, 23 minutes
Rainy, rainy, nasty day. And that was ok. I dodged the raindrops for a bit of a morning walk, and we spent the rest of the day just hanging at home. Nothing fancy.
I followed it up with an Abs and Arms workout that left me one fire! I am all for a challenge, and this tested me to the limits! I was sore (in the best ways) for several days!
Monday – 4.5 miles, bridge repeats
This bridge run wasn’t quite as productive as last week’s but movement is the name of the game, right?
Tuesday – 5 miles, running + .53 miles, walking
Friends, I was keyed up today! After all, it was time for our second doses of the vaccine. First, we ran.
And then, while A worked on some exams, we headed off to the community center for our shots. I was so anxious and emotional. I think I almost cried when the volunteer administered my dose. This time, they asked me to wait 30 minutes, due to my ibuprofen allergy, but all was well.
Wednesday – 3.7 miles, walking
Another rushed morning. On the plus side, I had virtually zero side effects from the vaccine. Mr PugRunner did not fare quite as well – he had a very sore arm and he was a little achy. By the time I got back from my walk, he had had some coffee and Tylenol and felt much better.
Next up, I had my consult with the oral surgeon that morning.
Long story short: my wisdom teeth have to go. We scheduled for May 26 in the morning, and I am beyond unhappy. Dental anxiety is real, even though I know it’s necessary and that I am in good hands. I’m sure you all can’t wait for posts from my recovery bed.
Thursday – rest
Happy Earth Day!
On Thursday, we took a much needed family day. Sometimes, you just need to go off the grid. No regrets.
We also received Luna’s new collar from RoadID. This one fits her a lot better (she’s got a tiny neck), and I love the green on her. The pink will fit her better in a few months, but we will be able to swap out between the two. Yay. Want one for your pooch? Code RUNSWITHPUGS will save you 25% on your order from www.RoadID.com.
Friday – 5 miles, running + 2.27 miles, walking
Back in the game, with a nice five mile run. It was actually quite chilly when we went out and I was underdressed for a few miles.
In the evening, we went to our local food truck Friday. Our favorite ice cream truck just added stuffed potatoes to their menu, and I was in heaven. Yum.
Saturday – 7.2 miles, running + 1.45 miles, walking
So, we were supposed to return to the marine lab to work on placing the oyster blocks in the water, but plans changed, and my morning opened up for a run.
J joined me for a long-ish run. It was so humid and sticky, and not even the sights of deer and peacocks could make it a fabulous run. Back to back runs are hard, but we crushed it.

That evening, some of the neighborhood kids planned to camp out in the yard to celebrate A’s birthday. They had some pizza and cupcakes and watched a movie projected on the side of the house. It was a low key and lovely night for them.
Goal-getting
Since I’m catching up and very late, I will set up my goal tracker for next week. My runs were down, but my miles stayed fairly strong. I’m bummed that I’ve missed out on several double digit runs, but I will get back to them in time. Strength training is going really well with the Studio SWEAT OnDemand platform. I didn’t have as much access to my weights last week, but I’m going to do great this week!
This week is A’s actual 13th birthday. We’re going to take off to enjoy it with sneaker shopping and a nice patio dinner at one of his favorite places. We will also see his grandparents, which will be so nice. Hopefully, I’ll finally be able to catch up!

I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training?
Do you feel like you’re playing catch up?

Playing the Catch-Up Game is rough. We don’t take many vacations, but if we travel anywhere over the weekend, the WRD is “a piece” to get caught-up on LOL I can do some of it on my phone, but it’s much more convenient to do it on the computer (I much prefer the desktop to laptop).
I can totally relate to what you said about playing catch-up – I have felt like that for the past month or so. Luckily I do keep a few “To-Do” lists so I know what I have to do – it’s just finding the time to do it!
That’s awesome that you didn’t have any side effects from the second dose. I get my second shot on Saturday and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the same outcome!
Luna is so photogenic and I love her new collar!
way to fit it all in on a busy week! Sometimes those are the weeks where I am the most productive. Happy birthday to your son!
Nice workouts! It’s always neat when the strength piece clicks into place. And yay yay yay on vax #2!!!
Those cupcakes are so cute! Looks like you pulled together a decent week. Yay on not having side effects from the vaccine — and being fully vaccinated! I just realized my weekend plans are going to interfere with my running plans, so I’m figuring out how not to be playing catch up myself.
Happy birthday to A!
How fun to have an almost-teenager in the house! Cheers to birthday week. Love the idea of a Road ID collar! What a great idea and of course Luna is adorable in hers!
I’m biased, but she’s kind of adorable in everything. 😉
It’s crazy that he’s 13!
I am all too familiar with the feeling of playing catch up! Sounds like you still managed to get it all done. Sorry about having to get your wisdom teeth removed! Hope A has a great time celebrating his bday.
It all had to get done! I’m still finalizing a few things, but this weekend, I can get back out from behind the 8-ball and that will help.
Love those socks! Haha, yes, I like them because of the color. 🙂 But I am also a Balega fan. Luna looks adorable in her new collar (pretty color too). Looks like your son is having some fun birthday celebrations!
They are a great color!
He had a great week. Not as big as we might have done in a non-COVID year, but definitely bigger than wings in the driveway with a car parade. He’s very happy.
I can’t believe you still have your wisdom teeth and that they have to be removed now! Matthew just had his out last year. He did great. A little sore afterward but it wasn’t too bad. I’m sure you’re in good hands.
I thought about a roadID collar for Cocoa, but she’s still wearing her UW collar. Luna looks great in hers!
The roadID collar is great because it doesn’t jingle! I love it!
I think it was one of those things where there were only two wisdom teeth, and they were like “they should probably go, but it doesn’t have to be right now.” And I took that very much to heart. So now it has to be RIGHT NOW. Just a few more weeks and I can put it behind me.
Hey I’d say you did what you could when you could and that’s what counts!!
I know how you feel about the dental stuff. it’s awful. I have serious trauma from the dentist when I was young and absolutely hate to go to the dentist now. And yet… there I am every 6 months… they know me at the place I go to though and are almost too coddling ! I mean ok I appreciate that you listen and care and you don’t want me to be stressed but get on with it so I can get home!! I’ll be crossing everything for you and your recovery.
Now I want a baked potato!!!
It’s funny- my dentists when I was younger were all wonderful. I have no idea what happened, but I break out into tears and a sweat. Truthfully though, teeth gross me out. When A, or even the puppy, lost teeth, it made me nauseous and queasy. I would rather they knock me out, take all my teeth, put in dental implants and wake me up when the pain is gone than deal with my actual ones. I don’t know how I got to this point, but here we are LOL.
Happy birthday to A for this week! I am playing catch up right now – with my blog reading while I wait for my drains man to finish repairing the drains; it took longer than expected as of course he found something he had to repair under the kitchen sink. I have asked a client to accept a deadline delay and fingers crossed!
Ugh. I hope your client allowed you some grace on this one. Anything with drains sounds awful.
He did, thank you! And our drains man is lovely and was very good. In fact he hasn’t invoiced me yet, I’ve just realised!
Happy birthday to A this week! It sounds like you have a lovely day planned and that he had a fun party with his friends.
I hope your wisdom teeth removal goes well. I was very luck and felt so good that I could easily have gone back to work that afternoon – hope your experience is as smooth!
Thank you. And gosh I hope it’s easy. I am low-key FREAKING OUT.
