Happy birthday to me! Every few years, my birthday actually falls on Mother’s Day, so we have a double celebration.
Sunday – 4.58 miles, walking
I had to plan my whole day, so I did. First, I wanted to take a walk. Mr PugRunner joined me.
Then I wanted to get coffee and pick up breakfast at a donut shop on the beach. From there, we planned to head to our local art museum to see the exhibits and check out the gardens (I have never been) and then maybe find a late lunch/early dinner somewhere.
We accomplished all those things, and even had time for some popcorn and movies before bed.
Monday – 4.20 miles, walking + SSOD Tank Top Toner I
I slept late so I thought I would go do some speedwork not at the beach. It was hot and I was tired, so I just ended up walking instead. Meh.
That evening, I spent some extra time making dinner with our Vital Choice Wild Seafood & Organics Wild Alaskan salmon. We blackened the fish and put together a Caesar salad platter. It was really delicious and easy too!
Tuesday – 5.67 miles, running + .75 miles, walking
Even though it was muggy, we had a great run. I even went a little longer because it was feeling so good. Yay.
Wednesday – 3.53 miles, walking
On Wednesday, we planned a park day. I did get in a bit of walk, but I ended up running into a neighbor and we spent about 20 minutes chatting. It’s nice to connect in the quiet mornings.
It was good to get out with the kids to explore a bit. We all needed the distraction.
Thursday – 5 miles, running + .67 miles, walking
Steamy and humid meant our run was hard. But we did it, despite the heaviness.
I had to hustle off to my hair appointment
And then A had to take part 1 of his standardized math test. Blech. Not a fun afternoon for him.
Friday – 4.1 miles, walking
I had a hard time getting out of bed again, so I took my time on this walk.
Afterwards, A and I started dismantling the garage. It was time to clean and organize. We made some serious headway before he had to head off to Part 2 of his test, and it felt great.
Mr PugRunner and I had a lunch date, and then we sat by the pool that evening chatting with another neighbor.
Saturday – 9 miles, running + .89 miles, walking
To our surprise, the temperatures dipped again! What? It’s amazing. And it’s even more amazing for running. I was thrilled to finally be back to a long run on Saturday.
The afternoon was a whirlwind. A went across the street for a waterslide party. We finished the garage (it looks amazing). And then we drove down the street to meet my college roommate at the gas station as they were en route to their home in South Florida. It was so good to see her and her family.
Goal-getting
I need to back into my strength sessions, but I wasn’t focused this week. The blame is entirely mine on that. I am hopeful to be in a better headspace this week, and get back to it. I also need to get back to reading. I have books – I just haven’t been reading.
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training?
Anyone else just super distracted and unfocused lately?
Darlene S. Cardillo says
Happy birthday to my birthday twin. You had a great day.
Strength training always eludes me.
Getting back into real life after vacation was hard. So I signed up for an October half marathon that should keep me focused for the summer
Love the hair. Perfect reward.

Happy Belated Birthday!!! Sounds like it was an amazing day.
Yes, this time of year is really busy. Every Sunday night at dinner we talk through the coming week, and this week there was so much going on I had to get out the calendar to write it all down- feels weird (but good) after all the Covid downtime.
Maybe you didn’t do much strength training this week but you get bonus points for cleaning the garage- can you come over and do mine too???

Sounds like summer is in full-swing for you (at least in terms of weather). Glad you had a great birthday and Mom’s Day 😉
Stacie E Seidman says
Sounds like a really productive week! And your birthday/mother’s day sounds like a perfect day!
Deborah Brooks says
Hope you had a fantastic birthday! Our May is also filled with a bunch of celebrations and is always a busy one. Sounds like a busy week for you! Nice job on your long run
Wendy says
What a fun birthday week–except for organizing the garage. Being married to a carpenter, you have to realize that my garage is full of wood and tools. There’s barely enough room for my car. LOL
Glad to hear you had some cooler days as well! Your salmon caesar salad looks amazing!
runswithpugs says
With wood and tools you can MAKE shelves!
Floridians don’t keep cars in their garages lol. We don’t really have basements or attics, so the garage is our main source of storage. The Pilot will not fit at all. The Mustang used to, but then we got the bikes and that ended that.

Well for a distracted person you accomplish a lot! There will just be weeks you don’t get everything done. Gotta let that go!
I go really hard, get a lot accomplished, & then I need a break. Which is kind of where I am at the moment.

I think I am trying to get all caught up before my procedure next week. Then it will be a few days off. I need to stockpile some books.
Enjoy a little break. That sounds nice.
Renée @runlaugheatpie says
good week for you! birthday week! love it! I know the humidity / heat can sometimes make the runs hard. I’m always so impressed that you still do your absolute best at that moment.
I’m definitely distracted but I’m trying my best too to just keep things rolling.
runswithpugs says
<3 <3 <3 Yep. Just keep swimming is what we say over here!
Marcia says
Happy Birthday! Sounds like you had a really fun week. Hooray for a little cooldown in temps as well. I can’t even imagine running in Florida’s summer heat. Yes to total distraction lately. Ugh! I don’t feel nearly as productive as you’ve been!
runswithpugs says
Florida heat is ridiculous. But we are used to it so it’s just another day. I always try to keep moving and doing, even when I really don’t want to.
Coco says
Happy Birthday! It looks like you had a good week. The humidity sucks the joy out of running for me. I’d be a treadmill runner if I lived in Florida. 😉
I definitely am suffering from brain fog and end up working long hours to make up for the reduced productivity.
runswithpugs says
It was a good week, but I’m happy to be back to regular things, too!
Kim G says
Looks like you had a great week and birthday! I also love your haircut and color.
The Florida heat and humidity is no joke – I don’t know how you do it! Humidity always sucks all of my energy during a run.
The blackened salmon and Caesar salad platter looked amazing! I never would think to do a caesar salad platter but I love the presentation – it’s so pretty!
runswithpugs says
Any salad can make a platter! In fact, most meals can be served as a platter! It’s so easy and pretty!
Jessie says
Happy happy birthday Jenn! You are a very young 44! It’s funny how running keeps you young (I think!) Sounds like a very lovely celebration.
Michelle D. says
Sounds like a great week! Happy Birthday!
Love your haircut 🙂
I honestly do not know how you run through the heat and humidity there! I would be a puddle LOL
Liz Dexter says
Happy birthday, and what an excellent week. I love my peek into your very different life to mine!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I sounds like you had a wonderful birthday/Mother’s Day celebration! And that salmon on Caesar salad looks amazing! I think I’m going to be a copycat and make that Friday evening!
runswithpugs says
I am all about platters for dinner, now. They are easy, photographable, and everyone can customize to their tastes. Done.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Happy Birthday! Looks like it was a fun day for you. I love your haircut!
