week 105: last week of 2022

December 31, 2022      19 Comments

And just like that, another year is done. To be honest, I have mixed feelings. I hoped that things would be easier, but the reality is that nothing is. It would be dishonest to say I’m leaving the feelings of anxiety and worry behind in the new year, but I am going to do my best to mitigate them.

Sunday

  • Cardio: 2.51 miles, walking

Merry Christmas!

After breakfast and presents, I walked myself to my cat sitting job to spend some time with the three awesome kitties I’m watching. It was freezing, but no snow. Boo.

When I got home, I got to work. My parents were coming, and we decided we would just have snacks and grazing type food. We made dips, and of course I put together a board.

No family photo but I did get this great one with my beautiful mom.

Monday

  • Cardio: 5 miles, running + 1.19 miles, walking

Even though it was still cold, this run felt fabulous. I’m super happy to be getting in more miles.

We packed the car and started driving to Tampa. Part of A’s gift was a few days in Busch Gardens (we got fun passes, so we can go back, too). The drive was trafficky, but we were able to check out some of the holiday lights they have set up.

Tuesday

  • Cardio: theme park walking

No actual workout today. We spend the day at the park. It was not super crowded, but some of the rides kept going down, so the lines were longer than expected. Part of it was the cold, but it was ok. A and I got to do a roller coaster together, and then we saw some awesome animals.

Wednesday

  • Cardio: 4.88 miles, walking

Time to drive home.

Usually Wednesdays are running days, but since we got back in town later, I opted to just walk instead, with a break to care for the cats. And yes. It warmed up.

Thursday

  • Cardio: 5.14 miles, walking

I met up with J for this walk, which was fabulous. Yay! I apologize for some of the rewears, but I don’t have a ton of clothes appropriate for the weather.

It was good to be home. I did a little bit of tidying and cleaning up after Christmas. Nothing too exciting.

Friday

  • Cardio: 6 miles, running + .2 miles, walking

Another six miles! And there was much rejoicing!

Happy first birthday to Leonidas! He got cake and presents and lots of love.

I took A to have breakfast with my parents, and then he left to spend the night with them. Love their relationship.

Saturday

  • Cardio: 4.75 miles, walking

Happy New Year’s Eve!

I started with my walk. As per usual.

And the rest of the day will be spent prepping for a get together with friends, and organizing.

Goal-getting + Thoughts

I don’t know what 2023 is going to bring, but I do hope for good things.

Do you join us for the Fit Five Friday link up? If so, we are so proud to present a schedule of prompts to make it easier! We’d love to see you on Fridays!

I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!

Tampa can be loads of fun. There’s a lot to do, and some really great events. We had a good time.

I suppose you don’t have much need at all for running tights, so I completely understand seeing them more than once this week! 🙂 Heck, even though I have several variations of warm tights I might just wear the same pair twice in a row because they don’t get sweaty when it’s really cold out!
The Busch Gardens trip looks fun! Happy New Year!

Very little need LOL! I rarely have a run where there’s no sweat. Even if it starts out cold, it usually warms up!

Ooh, Busch Gardens! I haven’t been there in YEARS. I’ll bet it was amazing- they probably had some really nice holiday lights.
Sounds like you guys had a nice Christmas. It must have been freezing- because it was in the 40s all the way down here.
Happy New Year, Jenn! I hope it brings you everything you want.

They had pretty lights and a super cute Christmas town with a little food festival. That’s what I wanted to do, but it didn’t work out.

It was freezing. Literally. I loved it though.

Happy New Year! I hope you had a great time with your family. I also hope that 2023 will be a better year than 2022…

I know the cold had to be rough down there, I couldn’t stand it up here in Philly!

I’m excited to see the upcoming Fit Five Friday topics for the year – now I can plan ahead and be sure to participate! 🙂

I can totally relate to what you said about not leaving anxiety and worry behind in 2022. This is something I also struggle with. I’m trying to get better about it, but it’s truly a process.

Happy belated birthday to Leonidas, and happy new year. I hope 2023 is a great year!

Happy New Year Jenn! I hope the new year is a fantastic one for you and your family. We went to Busch Gardens when the kids were little and I remember how terrified Thing 2 was of the wave pool. By the end of the day though she loved it and she wanted me to hold her in the deepest part. Crazy! Happy Birthday to Leo!

You are cat sitting? How fun! Honestly I couldn’t believe the unusual weather in Florida. My sister lives in Texas and they also had really cold weather. Happy Birthday to Leo! That hat is awesome and now I want it for my cats.

Happy Monday! I don’t know about you all, but y Happy Monday!

I don’t know about you all, but your girl is TIRED. It is so hard to roll out of bed some mornings. Ugh.

I managed (finally) and banked six miles in some gross humidity. And now it’s time for some self care and then back to work.

Also. We have somehow acquired a pecan tree? Any tips on the growth and care of this would be greatly appreciated!

Sunday fun day! Just a short walk to start the da Sunday fun day!

Just a short walk to start the day and work out some stiffness. Some days, my ankle just doesn’t want to cooperate 🫤

I have been making graphics and content all day for a client, and now I’m about to do hair and makeup for a little event. Wheee!

This week is going to be BUSY! There’s a lot of changes to the regular routines (nails, a digital learning day, after school and weekend programming) and I have a race on Saturday and bocce ball on Sunday!

Who else is ready to dive in?!

This Sunday, I hit up the #womenrunjacksonville ev This Sunday, I hit up the #womenrunjacksonville event at the @theglassfactory, presented by @yelpjacksonville and @market.and.mimosas!

Is it possible to be overwhelmed by so much amazing talent, creativity and awesome woman power?

From the iconic “my phone eats first” tote to the gorgeous party wall lined with craft mimosas, to the silent disco headphones and all the vendors and food/drink samples! Swoon.

I shopped, ate, drank and chatted my way around the venue, and enjoyed every second of it. What a way to celebrate Women’s History Month, and all of the incredible female entrepreneurs, business owners and bosses in Jax and NE Florida!

Five stars. Would do again in a heartbeat!

I am not a huge fan of gym equipment like the treadmill or the elliptical: I find it boring and often times awkward. That being said, I’m working through a training plan from @runsmartofficial and trusting the process.

Did you get your fitness inside or out today? How do you feel about the elliptical?

Let’s talk about balance. Balance is an area wh Let’s talk about balance.

Balance is an area where I sometimes struggle, physically and emotionally. It can be a challenge to fit in all the things I want and all the things I need. I don’t always love doing the mundane or tedious tasks that ultimately lead to the foundations of the things I am more passionate about.

I am taking a little more time to build on the basics, and find my balance. It’s going to lead to a healthier and happier me.

How do you find your balance? Do you struggle with the basics?

Sometimes, the weather is too beautiful not to run Sometimes, the weather is too beautiful not to run.

I worked through some cardio under the blue skies and in the fresh air and then came home to @runsmartofficial’s base building boot camp.

There was A LOT of focus on balance and feet and ankles, as well as ground work in the form of different planks and push-ups.

The movements were small but effective and my legs are certainly burning! It’s going to get harder as we go, but I’m excited to spend more time on my stability and form, to see if it makes me stronger and more efficient over time.

What was on your workout calendar today?
