This was a week of getting my head on right and looking at new things. You know, when the regular old things aren’t working, it’s time to change direction. Can’t expect different results from the same old plan, right?
Sunday
- Cardio: 4.34 miles, walking
This is me, trying to channel all of my positive energy. I think I succeeded!
Once got done with this walk, I pretty much showered, put on comfy clothes and hit the couch. Leonidas supported this plan.
Monday
- Cardio: 2.98 miles, running + 1.86 miles, walking
The truth is that none of this felt great. But it was important to do it to honor 9/11 and hold space for those we lost.
I also had a nail appointment scheduled. I think I’m moving to some more minimal designs. Yes, I sprang for some new Halloween decor. I really want an incredible spooky season this year.
It was also important to hold space to celebrate our friend’s daughter’s birthday! We enjoyed a lovely “family” dinner at their house. Crazy on a Monday night, but so wonderful and so needed.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 5 miles, walking
Has it been just slightly cooler? It has! It has! And can we talk about this spooky fog??? It’s like the weather is playing into all my plans!
Wednesday
- Cardio: 6.62 miles, walking
It kind of feels like I’ve given up, at this point, but I know that’s not the truth. I’m just meeting myself where I am in this moment. In this instance, I am venturing back out after a thunderstorm caught me off guard.
But here’s the big news! We joined the YMCA!
When the Y came here, we weren’t too interested. We had 9round and neither of us really liked the gym too much. The class times weren’t at good times for me, and we just sort of neglected it. But after a few years, and my accident, and Mr. PugRunner’s health issues, I started thinking about it. While we have some light weights at home and a community gym with very limited equipment, I wanted some more options. And if you get a referral from someone who already is a member, you get 20% off your monthly fee! Score!
So on Wednesday, we went and registered, after a quick tour! Mr PugRunner was having some work issues so we didn’t linger long, but we are IN.
The day ended with an arts booster board meeting. I actually love these. They can get long, but our arts departments are doing some incredible things.
Thursday
- Cardio: 4.09 miles, walking
Quick one today: my kid drop off schedule changed a little this week, so I had to be home to get A and his friend to school.
I was hoping to try one of the new classes, but I had lunch with a friend instead. And I went shopping for some more fun Halloween gear.
Friday
- Cardio: 5.55 miles, walking
TGIF!
Can we give it ups for the beautiful morning?
It was a crazy busy Friday, but all good things. Even better? A got to come home after school (well, after his YMCA orientation after school). The football team was traveling to a game about two hours away, so the band didn’t go with them. He hasn’t had a Friday off in forever.
He got some time to chill, and Mr PugRunner and I went to a working client dinner. We had a lot of content to shoot, so we decided to do it over burgers (also part of the content). It was so fun, even if it was a later night.
Saturday
- Cardio: 4.59 miles, walking
I didn’t set an alarm, and that was lovely. The boys went to the gym, and I hit the road.
We had a slight setback when Mr PugRunner noticed the tire on his car was low – of course, it was a nail. The shop couldn’t patch it, so he needed two new tires. Sigh.
Then we dropped A at his weekend band camp and we went to Talkin’ Tacos for a Yelp lunch. Soooo delicious. And such a fun space.
Thoughts + Goals
So I didn’t get to hit the Y this week, but I am signing up for a few classes for next. I am excited about trying something new, and hope I can start feeling like myself again. It’s frustrating when you feel stuck, and that’s how things have been for me, lately.
Other than that, Bandtober is right around the corner. The band has a packed schedule, and I hope I am up for the challenge!
What’s happening in your week? Any fitness challenges? Are you excited for spooky season?

It is not always easy to meet yourself where you are-I am in the same boat myself. We will get there! A new gym sounds like just what you need for motivation. Have a great week ahead

I am VERY excited for spooky season, and I can’t wait to see your decor.
Yay for joining the Y! I definitely know that “stuck” feeling, and it really helps to do something new. I hope you like it.
Our football game was on Thursday this week because of Rosh Hashanah. Definitely not crazy about these games on a school night!

You’re doing a great job with keeping up your walking and I hear a lot of positive vibes here – meeting ourselves where we are and working from there.. that’s important. Good news that you joined the YMCA! I hope you’ll enjoy it and I hope you’ll feel better about everything soon. I assume the cooler weather is an advantage too. Btw I loved the photo of you with the fog! I generally love fog – so beautiful.

A new gym membership sounds like a great way to make a new start. I hope you find some classes you love! I love the variety in my workout regimen and I think that helps keep it interesting. Right now, I’m stuck in an RA flare, and while I’ve been trying to soldier through it, that isn’t working well for me. Sigh.

I started decorating then house for Fall… that’s always fun.
I’m intersted in how the Y goes for you. I haven’t taken any classes… I work 8-4 so they seem to be at the wrong times but I do enjoy all the machines that are available so you can work on whatever you like.

Hopefully the Y will be the jumpstart you’re needing to get back to where you want to be. The variety of classes will be fun!

I definitely know about feeling stuck! I hope the Y is a fun change of pace for you (see what I did there?). So sorry about the tires. Always a bummer. Looking forward to hearing what classes you take!
