Once again, I hit a major milestone with Streaking With The Cool Kids, and I couldn’t be happier! Let’s talk about it!

What Is “Streaking With The Cool Kids?”
Streaking With The Cool Kids is a challenge that started in 2013 with @pinkcupcakegirl motivating her followers to move their bodies on the daily. The rules were simple. Run, walk, or jog one mile every day for the month of June. The mile must be continuous and purposeful (like you need to go out to do a mile, not accumulate a mile wandering around a store or a park). Don’t skip. There is no catching up. Move the mile, or you’re out of the challenge, periodt. And when the month of June is up, you can stop… or you can keep going.

Why Did I Start?
Even though running every single day seems like a lot, I figured that I could run or walk. And it seemed like a reasonable thing to do for 30 days. And then I kept going. To be honest, this isn’t the first time I hit 500 days, but this particular streak started in a little before June 2023… I carried a streak into the month, and I kept it going after.

What’s The Biggest Challenge Of Streaking?
Is it easy to run, walk or jog one mile day after day after day? Nope. But it also wasn’t particularly hard. The worst days were big travel days, when I had to carve out time super early, super late, or in an airport or at a rest stop. It’s doable, but definitely takes some planning and creativity to get it done. For example, I timed my walk from the shuttle bus into the balloon festival, which clocked in at just over a mile. Done.

So What’s Next?
Truthfully, I’m aiming for 600 days, and then I’ll go in for two years. And then we will see. Most days I go way farther than a mile, but it’s really so motivating to have that small goal lined up for me each and every day. Obviously, illness and other obligations play a factor, but even if I’m walking dogs, I can make a mile happen. Wish me luck!

Have you done a run streak? Would you ever?

I love this! Congratulations, Jenn! Keeping up a 500-day streak is absolutely incredible.
I hope you celebrate every 100th milestone with a well-deserved margarita. But hitting 500 definitely calls for something extra special – how you’re going to mark the occasion?
Sounds like a great challenge- congrats on your new milestone! I try to walk about a mile on days I dont run,, but sometimes its more and sometimes its less. There are also days where any movement just gets split up throughout the day.
