It’s that time of year again… the one where I go Streaking With The Cool Kids! On June 1, I will join other intrepid runners, joggers, and walkers, as we commit to one month of running one mile a day! Who’s with me?

What Is #StreakingWithTheCoolKids?
#StreakingWithTheCoolKids is an initiative started years and years ago to motivate people to get out there and run (or walk or jog). The only rule is the you have to run/walk/jog one dedicated mile every day for the 30 days in June. There are no makeups, no do-overs, no restarts. If you miss a day, you’re out.

How Do I Join?
Well, that part’s easy. Anyone can join! There’s no official sign up, but you can request entrance to the private Facebook page in order to share your efforts, encourage others and get motivation.

How Do I Stay Accountable?
That’s easy, too! Just post on the above Facebook group with your daily efforts. Or share to your social media with the hashtag #StreakingWithTheCoolKids and tagging @SparkleAthletic. There will even be a tracker like the one below to help you keep count of your days and miles (this is from last year, for those continuing the streak past June). Just mark your miles as you go and you’ll be shocked how quickly the days pass. Oh, and keep an eye on that hashtag… sometimes there are some great giveaways to help support you on your way!

What Happens At The End Of The Month?
You win! Just kidding…. there’s no winning, but you do get bragging rights! You’ve just run at least one mile a day for 30 days and that’s something worth celebrating. After all, streaking isn’t for everyone, and not everyone is able to finish the 30 days. Either way, be proud.

What Do I Do Next?
That’s entirely up to you! You can take break, or you can keep going. There are some who are only in it for the 30 days and are more than happy to get some downtime. Others have been streaking for years, and want to keep going as long as they can. There’s no right answer, and both are wonderful ways to wrap the #StreakingWithTheCoolKids challenge.

While it’s a fun idea, I’m soooo bad at running streaks. So, good luck but I won’t be joining. 🙂
