I don’t know why I thought things would improve, but here we are, moving to the final week of January, and things just seem dark. With the world slowly losing its mind, and an awful ice storm threatening most of the country, we just need some positive news. It’s easy to feel helpless, but even in those moments, we can always hope for brighter and better days.

Sunday
- Cardio: 4.47 miles, walking
Oof, it was cold (for here). I slept in so that I could catch the warmth of the sun, but I’m not sure it was too helpful. I even got rained on, and that just made things more miserable.

The afternoon was cozy, with another visit to my parents’ cats. And then it was home to chill out in advance of the week.
Monday
- Cardio: 6.61 miles, running
The one thing cold weather is great for is running. I had an awesome run, despite the frost on the ground. I do hate bundling up, but I felt wonderful out there, and that’s what matters.

I met another new client, who is looking for a “just in case” walker. Of course, the pup was super sweet so I look forward to getting the chance to hang with him in the future.
It was National Championship Day! Spoiler alert: Miami lost, but they put up one hell of a fight, and they are looking good for next season. Even though we watched at home, I put together a nice set of snacks, with Cuban sliders, empanadas, tostones, chips and veggies and dip, and traditional daiquiris. it was fun to have a bit of a themed evening.

Tuesday
- Cardio: 5.7 miles, running + 1.48 miles, walking
This was a week of dog walks. I started the day with my usual run. Check out the ice on the car windows!

And then I had two different clients scheduled for walks. I took care of that as scheduled, even though it meant I didn’t time to make it to the gym. Boo.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 5.03 miles, walking
Another two clients today, for a total of three walks, not including my own regular morning constitutional. It’s still chilly, but definitely warming up again.

That evening, we had our first Yelp event of the night. I’m back for my 6th year as an Elite, and I am excited to see what the year will hold.

Thursday
- Cardio: 6.45 miles, running + 1.81 miles, walking
A morning run and three walks for two different dogs. It was, for sure, a busy day!

I carved out a little time to do some work, but mostly, I was on leash duty.
Friday
- Cardio: 5.79 miles, running + 1.97 miles, walking
TGIF! I was very much on the move, today. First, a run.

And then it was dog duty. I had three walks on the schedule, but I got a message at 6:30AM from a regular who needed someone to drop in on her senior pup while she was dealing with an emergency. She’s in my neighborhood and I would literally pass her on the way out, so I agreed to squeeze her in.
That evening, we went to the new Chocolate Bar dessert restaurant. It’s been open a few weeks, sorting itself out, and I really enjoyed our sweet treats. I had what was essentially a Dubai Chocolate skillet and Mr PugRunner had a Lotus cookie waffle.

Saturda
- Cardio: 4.88 miles, walking
I absolutely slept in today. I don’t know if it’s the cold or all the fresh air I’m getting, but I was tired.
I did actually start taking down the Christmas tree, and I did a ton of laundry, but mostly got work done. I also did a “trial” visit for some clients who more medication based in care. And then back to the couch.
Thoughts + Goals
As you might notice, I didn’t get to the gym this week. I’m bummed, but honestly, I just ran out of hours in the days. And it’s not like I wasn’t getting activity, so I’m ok letting it slide.
I was also invited to join LTK this week and I’ve done my onboarding. If you would like to follow me, here’s my affiliate link. I’ve been a little slow to get things rolling, but I’m getting inspired and look forward to have things go more smoothly!

There will be a little field trip this week, and I can’t wait for you to see what we go do!
