And now this year is flying by. It just goes on and on, so quickly. Of course, a good iced coffee helps ease the passage. Just a little.

After reading here, head on over to visit Coco and Deborah, our awesome link-up hosts.

Over Coffee, I Would Tell You…
It is incredibly strange being a house of three adults, with our own schedules. It’s weird having all grown up things going on, rather than school and non-grown up things, if that makes sense. In a lot of ways, it’s really nice. But also an adjustment.
I Would Also Tell You…
That my first ten days of adjusting in workouts and nutrition is going well. I’ve drastically increased my water intake, which is always positive. And even though I’m working and can’t make it to the gym, I’ve whipped out my trusty resistance bands so I can get in some strength training while I’m here. I think it helped being away from home and easy access to the pantry, but I’m also really proud that I have been prepping meals, skipping fast food, and making better choices including fiber and whatnot. I’m even ordering protein with my meals, sometimes I would happily skip on the regular (I just don’t love it, but it’s the fastest and easiest way to hit some goals).

Over Coffee, I Would Share…
That I feel like I’m living in a Disney forest right now! Over the last few weeks, I’ve seen all kinds of animals in nature: raccoons, rabbits, deer, and wild pigs! The place I’m at now has so many deer and bunnies, and they are absolutely unbothered by people. In fact, I wasn’t paying attention on todays’ run and almost smacked into a deer I didn’t see! It’s so cool!

While I’m Having Coffee, I’m Going To Share…
That I missed May races and I will probably miss June as well. My schedule just hasn’t allowed for it. It’s hot and I’m a little tired. I’m a little bummed, but there are other races. It will be ok.

With Coffee In Hand, I Would Tell You…
That I am super excited for our upcoming vacation (more details when it happens). It’s for a family wedding and it’s going to be great!
What would you tell me over coffee?

Yes, I can see how the vibe has shifted in your house! I know it’s bittersweet. We miss taking care of them like when they were little, but on the other hand it’s a relief to be able to do our own things.
I know you miss your races, but summer is such a hard time to run them. Are you going to be able to run a race on your trip? I can’t wait to hear more about it. Who’s getting married? Where is it? I’m sure you’ll share in due time ; )
When I have to miss races, I try to remember that they’ll be there next year when/if I have more time!
Nice work on prioritizing fitness and nutrition. It’s great to incorporate the small habits that make a difference in the long term. Kudos to you!
It is a very different energy once you stop having the traditional school/youth activities etc. things happening. It took me some time to get used to it as well.
Sounds like you’re doing great with your focus on nutrition. I must admit I still struggle to get enough protein at times.
So glad you have a vacation coming up – can’t wait to hear all about it!
Nice job with the nutrition! I get it – it’s easier when you’re home because you’re not around the pantry, common pitfalls, etc. but it’s also harder because you have to be really intentional!
Ha where you are staying sounds like my neighborhood! Even though we are so close to downtown (we’re in an “inner-ring suburb”) – we have deer and bunnies, etc. This morning when my 4 year old opened our backdoor, there was a baby deer 2 feet away from him! I had to quickly close the door – I was paranoid the deer would come inside ha. They are not scared of us at all! Sometimes when I’m running though they can get aggressive – I had one charge at me once which was so so frightening!
It’s great that you’re able to keep on top of your workouts and nutrition with your busy schedule. Keep up the good work!
Increasing my fluid intake is forever on my list of things I should/need to do. I’m pretty sure my kidneys absolutely loathe me. :[
So many woodland creature visits!! Are you secretly a Disney princess!? 😀
Hope you have a wonderful time on your vacation!
The transition from parenting a high school student to living with a graduate is an interesting one. It sounds like your is going smoothly. We found that the older our kids got, the more they WANTED our advice, so that was a nice change. 😉
Staying hydrated has so many benefits!
I am sure that odd feeling will be there for a bit! it’s a real change for all of you!
I seriously need to work on my hydration and my nutrition as well. Being on the cruise was really great but there was absolutely no holding back on any of the meals!
Oh, but it’s ok to have the most wonderful time! If I was on a cruise, I would be right there with you!
Having all adults in the house and not being on the school schedule is SUCH a huge shift. There are so many exciting things still to come though.
Sounds like you’re doing so great with your nutrition and fitting in activity where you can. Awesome! Hydration is so so important. I’ve been struggling lately to dial in protein. Not sure why. Probably because I’m sick of my morning Greek yogurt w/protein powder. Ha!
I wish I enjoyed Greek yogurt. Like, at all. It makes me sad lol. I’ve had really good luck with the cottage cheese mixed into my scrambled eggs, but I agree. Protein is hard, especially if you don’t love protein sources.
