Recovering From A Whirlwind Week

November 23, 2025      Leave a Comment

Well, we have finally returned from our adventure to Indiana, marching season is over, and I got struck by the crud that is going around. What a week!

Sunday

  • Cardio: 1 mile, airport walking

We had to get up at 2:30 AM to be out the door en route to the airport at 3:15 AM. Ugh. I was super nervous because the Indianapolis Airport had issued an alert that due to the sheer numbers of people leaving town, they needed to open security at 3AM, and their Starbucks would be 24/7. The pressure! We returned our car rental, shuttled to the terminal, got through security, and grabbed coffee and a snack with plenty of time for me to get in a mile of walking. Of course, we then faced a 30 minute delay, which had me freaking out.

Our connection in Chicago landed just as our flight to Jacksonville started boarding. I sprinted across the way to our gate, while Mr PugRunner decided he would go to the restroom. We are obviously two very different travelers.

The good news is that we landed, got our bags and were home before noon with a stop for a real breakfast. We collected the pugs and I started in on laundry and getting back to normal. In the meantime, A’s flight wasn’t scheduled to land until 9:30PM that night… fortunately, I had worked out a great deal with friends, and since we had brought their son to the airport on Thursday, they were going to bring A home on Sunday night. It was good to have the family back together.

Monday

  • Cardio: 5.56 miles, running

It felt great to really stretch my legs, even if it the weather had warmed up. We are NOT looking at a frosty Thanksgiving. Boo.

A returned to school, and I was back on the work track. All was well.

Tuesday

  • Cardio: 6.08 miles, running + .14 miles, walking

Another busy day. We set the tone off right with a run.

And then I walked a client before heading to our final meeting with our attorney to get our estate binder! It was a rough process but it’s finished!

Wednesday

  • Cardio: 6.34 miles, walking

I woke up, not feeling 100%, but also not feeling unwell, either. Since the sun was shining, I figured a walk wouldn’t hurt.

Was it allergies or something else? I’ll never really know. If I had to guess, it was probably just coming down from the wild travel weekend, coupled with everything blooming again from the warm weather. Spoiler alert… I had 24 hours of misery, where I cycled through violent sneezing and some awful sinus drainage. I couldn’t even go to my book club friendsgiving, which was so disappointing. Admitting defeat, I hydrated, took a shower, and crawled into bed.

Thursday

  • Cardio: 1 mile, walking

You know what? Sometimes, you just need a break. I turned off my alarm, and skipped my official run for the day. It was absolutely the right call. My symptoms were pretty much gone, but I felt absolutely wrung out and exhausted, so I did my scheduled dog walks and took myself to the couch.

Friday

  • Cardio: 3.87 miles, running + .8 miles, walking

Slow and steady, am I right? A little run/walk through the woods pumped me full of fresh air, and I was so grateful for the movement. I didn’t push it.

Saturday

  • Cardio: 5.57 miles, walking

I think it’s safe to say that I’m better. Still a little tired, but recovered just in time for the Thanksgiving madness to begin. We have our menu, and I have a rough plan of how to get the house prepped. Now I just have to lean in and get it done. Good times.

Another lovely thing is that I got to take A shopping and out for lunch today. His schedule is jam packed, so it was special that he was able to make some time.

Thoughts + Goals

I’ve been burning the candle at both ends, and in the middle, so it isn’t a suprise that I got knocked back a step or two this week. Fortunately, A is doing much better, and we have the next week off to catch up on some rest and recovery.

We are looking forward to a nice, family Thanksgiving. There are lots of great recipes making an appearance, and we even picked up some board games for extra fun.

I’d also like to point out that we have tickets to see Wicked: For Good next week, and I am soooo excited about it. We might even be able to squeeze in a holiday event or two, but we will see how my feast preparations go.

It was a beautiful morning that turned quickly into a beautiful day. Sundays are hard because they are immediately followed by Mondays, and Mondays are hard.

Lots to catch up on this week! April is chock full of holidays, birthdays, days off, and events, so let’s get to it!

I was up and out early to drive to Flagler Beach for the #Missionpossible5k.

It was a small, well organized event, with an easy-to-follow course (the last mile was almost exclusively an ocean view), with great shirts and swag.

I was really pleased with my performance, and even more pleased with this beach sunrise. I’ll share more on the #RunnersRundown on Wednesday, so stay tuned!

Where did you run or race this weekend?

Oh, hello long sleeves. I’m here for it. So good Oh, hello long sleeves. I’m here for it.

So good to stretch the legs today. I was super sore after a @runsmartofficial cross training session last night, and needed to just get out there and let the fresh air work its magic.

What are you up to today? I really need to take a moment with my calendar and get some plans locked into place.

I got to sleep in AND take advantage of some cooler temps. It really didn’t warm up until my last mile and that was just fine.

I feel like this month and next are really just flying by. So much is going on, and I want so badly to enjoy it all, including the crisp, sunny days where we find them!

Happy Monday! I don’t know about you all, but you Happy Monday!

I don’t know about you all, but your girl is TIRED. It is so hard to roll out of bed some mornings. Ugh.

I managed (finally) and banked six miles in some gross humidity. And now it’s time for some self care and then back to work.

Also. We have somehow acquired a pecan tree? Any tips on the growth and care of this would be greatly appreciated!

Sunday fun day! Just a short walk to start the da Sunday fun day!

Just a short walk to start the day and work out some stiffness. Some days, my ankle just doesn’t want to cooperate 🫤

I have been making graphics and content all day for a client, and now I’m about to do hair and makeup for a little event. Wheee!

This week is going to be BUSY! There’s a lot of changes to the regular routines (nails, a digital learning day, after school and weekend programming) and I have a race on Saturday and bocce ball on Sunday!

Who else is ready to dive in?!
