We’ve officially crossed the midway point of the year, and if you’re anything like me, you’re probably wondering how on earth we got here so fast. In the fitness and blogging world, it’s incredibly easy to just keep your head down and plow forward into the next training block without ever stopping to appreciate the ground you’ve already covered. But there’s massive value in hitting the pause button, reflecting on the miles behind us, and taking an honest inventory of where things stand. The first six months of 2026 have been … something. Let’s look at exactly what went right, what had to shift, and the one overarching lesson guiding me into the back half of the calendar.

WIN: Maintaing My Streak
I kept up my daily running streak, committing to at least one intentional, uninterrupted mile every single day. Right now, I am currently sitting at about 936 consecutive days of streaking. Keeping that momentum alive, especially when the summer weather turns the pavement into lava, takes a serious amount of mental grit. No matter how packed the schedule gets, that daily mile got checked off the list.

WIN: I’ve Got Another State Lined Up
The 50-state race challenge is still alive and kicking! I have another state lined up and officially in my grasp for this year. I’m not quite ready to drop the details yet, so you’ll have to stand by for the official race announcement! Knowing the next adventure is on the horizon is the perfect motivation boost.

WIN: Business Is Booming
On the professional side of things, business is booming. Between content creation and running my own business, the schedule is packed, the plate is full, and the days are moving fast. It is a fantastic problem to have, even if it means my time management skills have to be sharper than ever to balance work, family, and miles.

WIN: Keeping It All Outside
If you live down here, you know that this July has been especially miserable. Despite the brutal, energy-sapping southern heat, I am managing to stay outside for my miles rather than retreating to the treadmill. It isn’t always glamorous, and it involves a lot of sweat, but keeping that outdoor connection alive is a massive victory for me!

WIN: Maintenance Mode For Strength Training Continues
While heavy strength training hasn’t stayed at the absolute top of my priority list due to scheduling and business demands, I am still getting workouts in often enough. It might not look like a textbook lifting schedule right now, but consistency in maintenance mode is keeping my body healthy and moving forward.

The Big Lesson: It‘s Ok To Slow Down
The single biggest takeaway from the first half of the year is simple: it’s okay to slow down when conditions insist on it.
I haven’t been racing much this year because of a mix of extreme weather and tight scheduling. If I’m being completely honest, I really miss the race-day energy and the community environment. But I’ve learned to accept that this season requires a different focus. Giving myself permission to ease off the gas pedal, adjust my expectations, and prioritize longevity over a race calendar has been a vital shift. The pavement isn’t going anywhere.
How did the first half of your year look? What is one real win you are celebrating, or a lesson you are carrying into the rest of the summer?
