It has been such a coffee-full week, so it only makes sense to start the month with a delightful, cozy cup! I am taking a pass on the pumpkin spice and still enjoying iced coffee with a little bit of vanilla creamer. After all, despite how much I try, it’s still Florida and the fall season is just different here.

Over Coffee, I Would Tell You…
That I am very much in my element right now. I just love the spooky season and it’s so nice to be able to partake in all the fun things going around. We have a ghost tour planned for this week, and we will be able to hit up three Halloween pop ups during the month, in addition to some other cool things. I’m really leaning into all of it.

I Would Also Share…
That on a heavier note, we did a very adult thing and set up an estate planning. I hated every second of it, but it is so important to put one’s wishes into legal documents. We also have some big things to think about and decisions to make. Not necessarily what I want weighing on me, but I think it will feel good to have it all done.

With Coffee In Hand, I Would Tell You…
That I am really back into cooking. It’s so nice making soups and muffins and yummy things to enjoy. When it’s super hot in the summer, the motivation really goes by the wayside, but once a little bit of crisp breeze blew through, I was back into the soups.

If We Were Having Coffee, I Would Share…
That on the cooking front, I’m getting digitally organized. I’m doing a much better job about tying my social media in with blog posts. My Pinterest and Linked In pages are getting some love and attention. It feels good and I’m already starting to see some small results.

My Final Coffee Thought Is…
That I’ve been pretty disgusted with the world and am just really trying to preserve my peace by spending time quietly alone or with the people who matter most to me. It’s getting more difficult by the day, but all I can do is try.

What would you share with me over coffee? Have you done estate planning?

We did our wills and power of attorney etc. over the summer, and it is a relief to have it done. The whole time my husband kept complaining about how depressing it was, and I was like “NO ONE likes this! Just get it done!!!” Sheesh.
I love how you’re leaning into Spooky Season! It’s October 3rd and my Halloween decs are not our yet- WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??? They’re definitely coming out this weekend.
Yes to soups and baking. No to contemplating the state of the world- don’t do it!!! It’s terrible.
I’m doing my best to protect my peace from the daily insanity – not easy!
We’re in the middle of our estate planning now – as you said, not fun but so necessary!
We did our estate planning earlier this year and I feel so much better having it done. Our original will didn’t represent how we wanted to distribute our assets at all!
Agree with you on the last point. I’ve been unplugging and taking photos and videos of my beloved city and enjoying the nice weather to soak it in.
I am seeing a lot of spooky decorations in my ‘hood. They make for great entertainment while out on my runs & walks!
Estate planning is not the most fun but really is necessary! I love spooky season but miss having the kids to celebrate with. Soups are so good-I need it to be a little cooler to enjoy them
You reminded me to get our five little Halloween decorations out. I prefer fall decorations and put them out last weekend, but refused to put out the little Jack-o-lanterns and ghosts until after October 1st. LOL Actually, I’m surprised that I’m not seeing more Halloween decor in neighbors’ lawns.
I’m much older than you and we did our estate planning years ago. It’s definitely not fun, but so necessary.
Oops, I forgot to update my URL in my comment above. That’s going to take me a while to get used to doing. 😉
I’ve noticed your digital organisation and I’m really inspired by it! I love that you are leaning into things you love – like Halloween and cooking! Doing things you love is so important especially when the world just seems so ugly and chaotic at the moment.
I’m trying! And yes, doing the things we love is so critical.
We recently did our new will and testament and it was not fun at all. But I was definitely triggered into it by my dad dying and want to be sure that my stepkids are ok if/when anything happens. Also on our old will, the kids mom was the executor (…) which, ok, made sense because they were under 18 but, yeah… no… I definitely didn’t want that. So then I had to think about who could do it for us, and then ask that person if they would be ok with it. It just is something that is more than just one conversation isn’t it?? but It needs to be done.
I always miss the Halloween stuff – it’s like one of the two things I miss (proper Mexican food being the other haha). Enjoy this time to its fullest!
I’m wanting to also get more organized digitally – I have my own stuff, plus parkrun, plus Arnhem Together and sometimes I cannot keep up.
We have my brother in law as our executor. He’s good at that kind of thing. But it’s a hard ask, and he’s not getting any younger, either.
Oh, gosh. Mexican food is my favorite. We don’t have the best here, but at least it’s something!
Aww, I’m glad you’re doing lots of fun things this month! I love fall and soup season. :] I’ve been meaning to get back into cooking again too.
I’m disgusted with the world right now too. :[ Trying to balance sanity with limiting what I read on the news with staying informed, but it’s hard. Hang in there! <3
