It has been a super productive week around these parts. I am totally on track to hit my 50 mile goal for the month, and I could not be happier.
Here’s the rundown.
- Sunday: Jillian Michaels’ Power Yoga Level 1 (~ 30:00)
- Monday: 5-10K Week 8, Day 1 – 3.03 miles
- Tuesday: Jillian Michaels’ Power Yoga Level 1 (~30:00)
- Wednesday: 5-10K Week 8, Day 2 – 3.65 miles
- Thursday: Jillian Michaels’ Power Yoga Level 1 (~30:00)
- Friday: 5-10K Week 8, Day 3 – 6.3 miles
- Saturday – The Hangover Run Virtual 10K (recap to come) combined with bridge training – 6.22 miles
Tomorrow will be rest, rest, rest and more rest. With a side of rest.
I feel pretty good. Tired and HUNGRY (I could eat everything in sight, but I’m holding back), but my legs seem to be in decent shape, even after the back-to-back six-milers.
Little man’s Kindergarten orientation went really well. His teacher seems incredibly sweet and I love the room theme and all the little touches she put into the classroom. He will start next week and I don’t recall ever seeing him so excited. On a more bittersweet note, Friday was his last day of summer camp at his old VPK. We had a somewhat tearful goodbye with the teacher he has had for the past year and a half, but she told him to call her any time and we will set up some dates at the pool to hang out.
We are taking it easy this weekend. The weather has been iffy, with some nasty storms, so it’s easy to just lounge around. I’ll do some meal-planning, make sure everything is all set for the first week of school and maybe we will take little man to see Planes.
Have you ever run a virtual race?
How are you spending the rest of the weekend?
PS. Don’t forget! If you live near or will be in the Jacksonville Beach area on September 7, you have until Monday, August 19, 2013 to enter to win a spot in the ZOOMA Inspired Yoga + Run session. Click here for details!

How do you find the JM power yoga. I tried it, but found it wasn’t for me. But each to their own right.
Sounds like things are picking up for you in the running department which is great.
I have only ever done 1 virtual race. A running bloggers one. It was good, but I think I much prefer a real race. The motivation from an event and other people running, helps me to run at my best, and not make it just another training run.
This weekend, we planted some lavender, had the club run (came 2nd) and bummed around indoors. Very much a rainy wintery day. Picked up a book to read, and throughly enjoying it (Before the Storm by Diane Chamberlain).

Well, I hate yoga in general. I’m just really bad at the whole “empty your mind and relax” stuff, and the last time I tried a real yoga class, my BP plummeted and I almost passed out. No bueno. The JM Power Yoga is 30 minutes, and there’s movement, which I like. It’s been good for my hips and knees and gives me a little more flexibility, which is all positive. There’s a lot packed into 30 minutes and I feel like I’m getting a decent workout in a short amount of time.
I do prefer the real races, too, but I still want to turn in a good performance. It’s a nice option for when the scheduling doesn’t work out for the real thing.
Glad you’re enjoying your weekend!

Glad he has such a fun classroom!! Kindergarten is such an exciting time. The first day of school isn’t quite as magical after that. Our kids start tomorrow, too. We’re enjoying today doing NOTHING much at all. We have a few possibilities, but nothing set in stone.

You may well be right about the years losing their magic after this one.
Enjoy your day of hanging out!

We were in Virginia Beach for a wedding so we got to run on the boardwalk there. It was fun, but the concrete was hard on our legs.
I’ve seen the virtual races talked about on peoples blogs, but I haven’t participated in one yet…
