For those of us in the south, the question of “is it fall yet?” is kind of a joke. Because no. It’s still hot, still humid, and no amount of pumpkin spice lattes or football games are going to change that. Boo.
Sunday – 1 mile, walking
Long story short, I skipped going out in the morning. We were still on vacation, and I didn’t want to wake anyone up to hit the trail with me. Instead, I logged one mile inside Weeki Wachee State Park.
Yup. It was mermaid day!
We packed the cars, checked out of the hotel, and spent the day with Florida’s mermaids!
And then we made the drive home. We had a detour on the way to visit Mr PugRunner’s parents’ graves, since the cemetery was on the way back. It’s been a few years since he’s been able to do so, and I know it gave him some peace.
Monday – 5.19 miles, bridge work
After racing last Monday, it was good to return to the beach and the bridge.
My neighbor asked me if I would come help her at a nearby barn with some of her horses, and I was thrilled to head over and get a lay of the land. I also got two fresh eggs (which were delicious, by the way).
Tuesday – 5.01 miles, running +.2 miles, walking
Oh, I was so excited for this day!
First, I ran.
And then I grabbed by boots and headed to the barn. For several hours, we bathed horses, and it was magical. There’s just something about working with animals that makes me feel at peace.
Wednesday – 4.27miles, walking
Halfway through the week. Hurray!
Thursday – 7.00 miles, running +.9 miles, walking
Since we had plans on Saturday, J and I ran a little longer on Thursday. it’s hard to run long during the week, but I was glad to get it done and out of the way.
Thursday nights are usually pretty tame, so I was glad this was the same. We needed the night off.
Friday – 3.38 miles, walking
I don’t know what I was thinking this week. Every morning has been so early, and for whatever reason, I had scheduled an 8:10 dental appointment. So I got up and I walked.
And then it was off to the dentist. They had a new office, and so my anxiety ramped up as I got used to a new place. It was a stressful appointment, but I am proud to report that I am holding strong on no cavities.
Mr PugRunner worked from home, so we went on a little lunch date, and then he helped A pack the car for his campout this weekend.
Saturday – 5 miles, running + 1.21 miles, walking + self-defense clinic
Saturday was slammed!
We started with a run. Since we did a “longer” run on Thursday, this was just our five miles.
Then it was off to A’s karate studio for our women’s self-defense class. We ended up having seven women, and it was incredibly educational. There was a lot of talk about avoiding problematic situations to the best of our abilities, and then we learned a few moves to help in case of different kinds of attack. I highly recommend that everyone take a class like this. You can never be too careful.
I came home, showered, and then drove up to where A and his Troops were camping. The plan was to spend the night, but the deal was that A was going to set up my tent for me. Well, he got involved with fishing and other activities, and that was that. I enjoyed dinner with the other adult leaders and drove back home.
Goal-getting
First, I am proud to still be streaking. I’m on Day 112, and feeling good.
I am also drinking water pretty regularly, with and without flavor. So that’s a positive.
Reading has slipped. I need to schedule that back in to my days.
And finally, I have a new feature starting tomorrow: Travel Tuesdays! We are going to start with our visit to Hernando Beach, and hopefully, I will be able to share some fun travel stuff going forward! We have some cool trips coming up, and some I need to recap fully, so this seems like a great time to start?
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training?
Have you ever collected and eaten fresh-laid eggs?
Have you ever rented a pontoon?

That’s great about traveling. I love hearing about those places you visit.
Congrats on another successful week of running.
I do like the change of seasons – fall is beautiful up here. Just not winter!!
Deborah Brooks says
It is most certainly not fall yet. I hear it’s on its way though! Can’t wait. Solid week for you!

Great week! I took a self-defense class a few years ago – I think everyone should take one.

We have a community chicken coop (next to the community garden) and the eggs are SO much better than anything I can buy in the grocery store. Solid week of training for you! My running is very much on the back burner right now. Mom Nature flipped a switch yesterday and fall is HERE!
Wendy says
Nice week, Jenn! i love your beach photos. If I lived down there, I’d be running at the beach all the time!
Liz Dexter says
Love the horse! It is autumn here, temperatures are dropping and the mornings are darker, so I need to go through all my running lights at the weekend and replace or charge the batteries!
My friend and neighbour Claire keeps ducks and sometimes passes one or two to Mr Liz, who loves them! I’m not a massive egg fan myself.
