It’s Christmas week! Somehow, despite it all, we’ve made it. l admit that my festive spirit took a nose dive these past ten days, but I am working myself back into it as best I can!
Sunday – 3.38 miles, walking
Good morning, and rise and shine. It was a bit of a tough weekend. Everything is fine, but as always, sometimes we go through some things. I knew a good walk would help clear my head.
I wanted to go to a Dickens experience in Amelia Island with some friends. It was something I was looking forward to for the past month, but when the time came, the boys just weren’t really into it. I was so disappointed by their lack of enthusiasm, but seeing our friends made up for it. Next year, I’m just going to make my own cheer and my own plan.
Monday – 4.34 miles, intervals + 12 Days of Fitmas
Monday was a fairly busy day, so I stuck close to home instead of going to the beach. With the year wrapping up, we needed some service done on the vehicles and we also needed to take care of some things. It wasn’t the same but it was nice to have a change of scenery.
The #12DaysOfFitmas also started, and I gave it my all with one pushup. Yay!
Tuesday – 5.00 miles, running + .85 miles, walking + 12 Days of Fitmas
I had a late call time for Taco, so plenty of time to run and do my second round of Fitmas (two jumping jacks and a pushup).
Taco was 100% uncooperative. He actually took off at a gallop when he saw me, and then tried to hide behind his full-size buddies. It took some patience and sweet talking but I finally caught him and bundled him up for his day at the children’s hospital. The chickens, on the other hand, were very interested in the whole situation.
In the evening, J came over and we took a virtual hand lettering course! We both have good handwriting, but we wanted to get super fancy. There was some wine, and lots of laughs, but we did pretty well!
Wednesday – 3.29 miles, walking + 12 Days of Fitmas
The weather is definitely warming up again. However, I got in my walk. And then added three bicycle crunches to my two jumping jacks and one pushup.
I got myself together enough to head out with my fellow PTSO volunteers. It’s been a bit of a weird year. I have been involved in a way more behind-the-scenes capacity, as my schedule isn’t allowing for as much on-site help at the school. It was good to share time with these wonderful ladies.
Thursday – 5 miles, running + .64 miles, walking + 12 Days of Fitmas
This run was tough. Again, the humidity is really just dragging everything down. Blah.
Today, the added exercise was four plank jacks. The option was plank hip dips, but they don’t feel super on my ankle.
As an added workout, I baked a ton of cookies. We also took A for another adjustment on his braces. He’s doing really well, and we are proud of him for that.
Friday – 4.6 miles, walking + 12 Days of Fitmas
I badly needed these miles. So badly. I also badly needed those five burpees added to the Fitmas routine.
I had a bunch of errands to run, more cookies to bake, and we picked up A early from school. He has two more days to attend, but with all the social media rumblings, I just didn’t want him there.
Saturday – 10.75 miles, running + .48 miles, walking + 12 Days of Fitmas
This run was so hard. It was hot and humid, and my leg was just yelling at me the whole time. Sometimes, when things don’t work in my favor, it just feels like it’s vibrating from my toes all the way into my hip. It’s not plan, but it’s not comfortable.
Afterwards, it was my Fitmas exercise: curtsy lunges or skaters. Skaters ended up being easier, and I took my burpees super slowly. After a long run, they didn’t feel fabulous.
That evening, J and her family came over. We had dips, played games, held a cocktail competition, and I made a hot cocoa board.
Like it or not, it’s time to be festive!
Goal-getting
Am I ready for Christmas? No. Will I get there? Yes.
I’ve actually been decent with my (sparkling) water consumption. And even though I’ve had a few nights of cocktails this week, I have been feeling good.
This week, we have some family and friends plans, and I need to finish a few shopping trips and wrap everything. It’s my least favorite part.
We still have time for the 12 Days of Fitmas! I hope you join this crew of amazing bloggers for 12 days of exercises! We’d love to have you participate!
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training? Wrapping: love it or hate it?

To you too!

You certainly pack a lot of activity into your week. Both healthy and fun.
Good luck getting ready for Christmas.
Happy holidays to you and the family.

Thank you! Happy New Year to you all!

I’ve been loving the 12 Days of Fitmas! The first few days were easy-peasy, but the #ish is getting real now, LOL.
runswithpugs says
Seriously! And doing it after a run? Yikes!

Did you draw that amazing snow globe? So impressive!
I understand how you feel when your hubs and son didn’t share your enthusiasm for a Christmas event–I bought tickets for the zoo lights at a zoo in Chicago and the hubs didn’t want to go. At all. Ugh. I feel like all I’m doing is getting ready for Christmas without any of the fun. Hoping to remedy that after the holidays.
Just keep moving, I say!

I wish I was that talented! There was an artist creating these all up and down the street.
It’s so frustrating when they act like that! I just really needed it and they were awful. I made plans for Thursday at a Christmas cocktail event. I told him they are dressing up and we are going to go eat, have a holiday cocktail and take pictures. And they better not complain or give me a hard time. End of. Period.

I love your cocoa board! You are so creative!
I’m enjoying the 12 Days too, but those burpees are my nemesis LOL.
runswithpugs says
Stupid burpees.

Good job getting in all your fitness, especially with a long run that was so uncomfortable.
I hydrated like a champ the end of this week because some people think it makes vaccines/boosters less of a pain. All I know is that at least the booster wasn’t as bad as my second vaccine (of course it was a half a dose) — it still wasn’t a whole lot of fun but it’s done.

Ugh. I had zero reaction from my first two vaccines. The booster slapped me hard. I’m better now, but today was a struggle and a half.

I’ve also been struggling with my runs this past week, and I agree that it’s probably the humidity. Somehow in the summer I’m geared up for it, but this time if year it really brings me down. Our weather is changing over the next couple of days, and I’m REALLY hoping for some good runs.
Ha ha, love the “extra workout “of baking cookies. Why is baking and wrapping presents so tiring???
I hope you have a great week!
runswithpugs says
The cold and humidity are hard. I just want it to be easy.
My back aches after baking for hours.

Your hot cocoa board looks fantastic! Looks like a fun and busy week for you. What a pistol Taco is! It’s tough to get a horse to do anything it does not want to do! Haha!

Like you, I also had a good week of workouts. I love wrapping gifts as long as I have time to fit it in and I’m not rushed. I usually try to wrap the gifts as I purchase them, but this year I got behind with going to the farm and had to knock them all out last Thursday afternoon.
Merry Christmas!

Another fun and body week for you! That hot cocoa board is so cute and creative – I love it!
Happy Holidays 🙂
