So you (or someone you love) have run your first race, and it’s time to celebrate! I’d love to share some perfect gifts to help commemorate this big moment!
Bubbles
Obviously, a grand celebration calls for bubbles. Treat yourself or your friend to some champagne, sparkling wine, or non alcoholic sparkling cider. You can even find cute little single-serve bottles of bubbly at your local store, which are the perfect size for a quick moment of cheer.
Epson Salt
After a big race, muscles are sore and limbs need reinvigoration. Wrap up some soothing epson salt so the new race finisher can enjoy a lovely bath, and get some relief. Epson is easy to find at your local drug store, pharmacy, or even grocery store, so it’s the perfect add to the celebration gift bag.
Yummy Snacks
Obviously, after a big race, finishers are hungry. Treat them to some truly delicious treats: nuts or candy, something salty or something sweet. Be creative and pick some things they will love.
Cozy Socks
Pampering and self-care is essential after any race, let alone a first one. Gifting some cozy socks is a great way to treat those tired feet and toes, and there are so many options from which to choose.
Commemorative Race Distance Gear
Of course, if you run your first race, you need something that says so. Jewelry, shirts, medal racks, tumblers, and custom art are all great ideas to help you or your friend remember their big day. There are so many choices on Etsy and Amazon, or you can even make something instead.
Framed Photo
Maybe it’s me, but I love photos. If you can get an in-race photo or awesome medal photo f your friend, they might love to have a printed, framed copy for their home or office.
What are some great gifts to commemorate yours or a loved one’s first big race?

These are great ideas! I am a big fan of wearing warm, comfortable socks after a race. And all that commemorative gear looks great!

We have gifted all of these things to running friends running their first marathon. Commemorative gifts are always appreciated

Love these.
I bought the photo from my first half and first marathon… and of course celebrate with FOOD!!

Aw, these are great ideas! I like the idea of getting a photo framed- just make sure it’s one they’ll like. After my first marathon, my boyfriend got me a POSTER SIZE photo of me finishing, but I looked awful. His heart was in the right place, but who wants a poster of themselves looking terrible?
Love those cozy socks! You can’t go wrong with those.

The next race, of course! Just waiting at the finish line — especially with food — is always welcome!
I insisted on going to a particular buffet in Vegas the day after my first half. The line was not short & Mr. Judy wasn’t initially all that enthusiastic about it, but it was a fabulous buffet & even he agreed it was worth the wait.
The second time we did Vegas I wanted a post race bagel & lox. Even though we were so much later than anticipated because of my friend’s injury, yup, he had it. Of course the first one he ate a prime rib dinner while I was out running!

These are great ideas! I like some bubbles in beer form after a race. A gift can make that first race really special.
