It’s March and I think it’s definitely time for some luck, don’t you?
After reading here, head on over to visit Coco and Deborah, our awesome link-up hosts.
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That I was accepted into the Goodr Flamboyance! I love Goodr sunglasses, and I am so excited to be part of this amazing team! It’s so incredible to get to represent the brands I love and use, and this was just so special. I think I need to order a new pair to celebrate.

That we have a new puppy and I couldn’t be happier! I know puppies aren’t everyone’s cup of tea (they are a lot of work!), but it was just what we needed. Our family has very proudly rescued several pugs, but we haven’t had luck recently, so this was the route we chose. The good news is that an acquaintance opened a new pug rescue within 30 minutes of us, and I have already signed up to volunteer.

That I have come to a decision on the Gate. My knee is feeling better but I’m not trained to run 9.3 miles on the fly. I decided that I am going to move back a corral and walk the distance instead. Is it ideal? No. However, it IS a walker friendly event, and I realized that I need to do things, even if they aren’t perfect. I’ve had so many instances of things just not going how I hope, that I just need to embrace them where they’re at. It will take me longer, but it will be a great day!
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That I had to make up for my Gate disappointment, so I registered for a new race. In October, some friends and I will take on the ZOOMA Amelia Island 12K. I really wanted to go for the half marathon or the Seaside Challenge (the 5K on Saturday night and the 12K or half on Sunday), but I didn’t want to overdo anything. I can always make a change closer to the date. I’m so excited to have a girls’ weekend with yoga, parties, and running. Oh, and all this awesome swag! On a lucky note, I registered on the day the race opened, and scored a free jacket, too!
Over coffee, I would tell you…
That a beneficial side effect of my knee issue is that I have renewed my commitment to cross training. Wendy, Meghan, and a few other friends suggested tendonitis, and all indicators point to “yes.” It’s annoying, but I’ve rested from running, and turned the focus to building my glutes and hip flexors. I should have been doing it all along, but life gets in the way, and I was complacent. Lesson learned.
What would you share over coffee? Anyone else just trying to make the best of things where you can?

Sorry about your knee. Hope it improves. Smart idea to walk the 15k just in case.
I ran Zooma Bermuda. It was a great event. You will love it. Too bad I’m going to Maine in early Oct or I’d join you.
Can’t believe I didn’t apply to Goodr. Remind me next year. I have so many pairs. They’re the only glasses I wear.
Deborah Brooks says
You can never go wrong with more strength training and runners always benefit from more glute and hip mobility. Hopefully that will help your knee. No shame in walking a race. Just keep moving forward
Erica @ Erica Finds says
Congrats on Goodr! That’s so much fun.
Smart decision on the walk. It’s great exercise and you’ll enjoy it (safely) this way!

Oh, that’s funny- Marcia posted about the Zooma race and I immediately thought it was up in your neck of the woods! You guys can meet up there.
Don’t even get my started on how frustrating these running setbacks are- but strength training is almost always the answer. You’ll have fun at Gate anyway and then can look forward to running the Zooma race.
Yes, puppies are adorable but a lot of work! Sounds like you’re up for it though, and look at that sweet face… she’s worth it.
Kimberly Hatting says
Yes to strength training! You can never go wrong with that in your arsenal 😉

100% yes to strength training! I am convinced that I’ve been relatively injury-free (knock on wood) for the past few years due to strength straining.
Coco says
Your pup is SO cute! Puppies are a LOT of work, but worth it! They certainly bring joy.
I’m glad your knee is better. Bummer on the race but playing it safe will pay off. Amelia Island would be so much fun!
Wendy says
Hooray for rehab! I have to tell you that every time I run uphill and feel my glutes engage, I thank my lucky stars that I have SJ to train me. Good luck with the comeback. You got this, my friend!

Smart choice to walk the race – better to be safe. Amelia Island sounds like fun! I think Marcia’s planning to be there too.
Congrats on Goodr!
Zenaida Arroyo says
Congrats on being a part of the team! The trip to Amelia Island sounds exciting and fun. I checked the date and I am tempted to go too.
Farrah says
Aww, congrats! That’s awesome!
I’m still hoping to get to adopt a dog someday (I need a place with a yard and to not be working full time for this to be feasible though, sadly).
I hope your knee improves soon!
