Was it another blah week? No. I think I’m finding my motivation and my drive. Digging in has made a difference.
Sunday
- Cardio: 4.71 miles, walking
- Strength: Shoulder circuit (3×15 shoulder presses, 3×15 neutral curls, 3×15 upright rows, 3×15 front raises, 3×15 side raises, 3×15 tricep kickbacks, 3×15 shoulder taps), 40 dead bugs
Oh, Sunday. I was up long before anyone, for some miles.
As I was getting home, I crossed paths with Mr PugRunner, who was leaving to pick up donuts. I hopped in the car to join him for a breakfast date.
We also got tacos for dinner. I’m researching taco joints, and he was happy to lend a hand. It was a yummy food day.
Monday
- Cardio: 5.37 miles, running + walking
- Strength: Bicep circuit (on knees 3×15 supinating curls, 3×15 regular curls, 3×15 hammer curls, 3×15 waiter curls). 45 dead bugs
Happy Labor Day! Initially, i planned to run a local 5K race, but I opted not to at the last minute. Instead, i enjoyed running at home, and that was fine, too.
We had a nice day, even if it was more quiet than usual. We just needed a break.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 4.84 miles, walking
- Strength: Shoulder circuit (3×15 shoulder presses, 3×15 neutral curls, 3×15 upright rows, 3×15 front raises, 3×15 side raises, 3×15 tricep kickbacks, 3×15 shoulder taps), 40 dead bugs
And back to all the things. Work, school, etc.
I also got my nails done. This may be my favorite set to date.
That night was a Scouts meeting, which meant a later bedtime. Our meeting are always productive, but they do go long.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 5.48 miles, running + walking
- Strength: Bicep circuit (on knees 3×15 supinating curls, 3×15 regular curls, 3×15 hammer curls, 3×15 waiter curls). 45 dead bugs
A more solid run. Some days are just better than others.
In the evening, we were invited to try the new Street Corn Takeover menu at our local Tijuana Flats. Yum.
Thursday
- Cardio: 3.21 miles, walking
- Strength: Shoulder circuit (3×15 shoulder presses, 3×15 neutral curls, 3×15 upright rows, 3×15 front raises, 3×15 side raises, 3×15 tricep kickbacks, 3×15 shoulder taps)
Of course, there was a little dragging after a fun night.
I had to drive all the way up to Jacksonville to pick up a date night basket I won! And then all the way back to St. Augustine for a different event. It was an all hands on deck kind of day.
Friday
- Cardio: 6.52 miles, running + walking
- Strength:Bicep circuit (on knees 3×15 supinating curls, 3×15 regular curls, 3×15 hammer curls, 3×15 waiter curls). 45 dead bugs
I finished Eliza’s run.
That night was Friday Night Lights. No pics because the band only played in the stands due to weather and illness. We lost, but it was to an excellently ranked team, so it’s ok.
Saturday
- Cardio: 4.57 miles, walking
- Strength: Bicep circuit (on knees 3×15 supinating curls, 3×15 regular curls, 3×15 hammer curls, 3×15 waiter curls). 45 dead bugs
I’m so grateful I moved my runs into the actual week. It makes Saturday mornings easier.
Mr. PugRunner took A to the bank to open his own checking/savings account, now that he is a working man. My parents picked him up to spend the rest of the weekend with him (they all love that), and Mr PugRunner and I went to a fun Yelp event: a chocolate and beer pairing at Ancient City Brewing. So good.
Goal-getting + Thoughts
Things are feeling better. I whipped out the bike this week to see if I can’t improve my leg turnover and get speed back on the radar. I’m also looking forward to the spooky season, which seems to be here! It helps to have holidays in my sights!
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training? Are you excited for spooky season?
Jenny says
Yes, holidays help everything! It’s good to have school going again and Halloween to look forward to. I’m also experimenting with moving my longer run to the week instead of Sunday- it does make the weekend easier! Glad things are going well for you. I can tell you’re feeling good- you’re getting that strength training in again!

We had torrential rain all day yesterday and now our high today is only in the 50s and yes, it most definitely feels like fall. I’ll never wish away summer but I’m all in for fall! Looks like you had a fun week!

We’ve been getting the most amazing sweet corn from a farm in Wisconsin and Mike’s been making Elote salad with it. I can’t get enough! He’s also blanching and freezing some for winter. We did this last year and in the middle of January, it was such a treat.
I’m so glad to see that you’re feeling motivated again. I was in a slump too–not sure why–but once I got over Covid, I felt mentally much better! I hope it lasts.

Nice to hear you sounding more up! And all that food . . . Looks so yummy!
Labor Day was quiet here due to weather. We did watch Elvis last week, I forgot to mention it on the blog.

Glad you’re feeling better and more motivated! All of the food looks amazing!
That beer and chocolate pairing is brilliant! I’m not a beer drinker, but would be down for a ciders and candy pairing event…

I hear you on the upcoming holidays making you happy. We walked into Costco yesterday afternoon and when I saw the Christmas trees with the lights twinkling, my heart skipped a beat! 🙂
I’m sure I’d love Street Corn Takeover! Tell them to open one near me!
