Florida fall is here. I’ll wait for you to finish laughing. No. Really. It’s fine.
Sunday
- Cardio: 2.51 miles
- Strength: Shoulder circuit (3×15 shoulder presses, 3×15 neutral curls, 3×15 upright rows, 3×15 front raises, 3×15 side raises, 3×15 tricep kickbacks, 3×15 shoulder taps), 40 dead bugs
I got up a little late and was punished with rain. Boo, rain. You all know how I feel about that. I was absolutely soggy all over by the time I got home.
And then I wrapped myself up in my cozies and took to the couch. I regret nothing.
Monday
- Cardio: 5.93 miles, running + walking
- Strength: Bicep circuit (on knees 3×15 supinating curls, 3×15 regular curls, 3×15 hammer curls, 3×15 waiter curls). 45 dead bugs
We had a beautiful Monday morning, and I was glad to spend some time with J.
I wrapped up my run and then took myself for breakfast at the newest donut joint in town, Decent Donuts. They were quite delicious.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 3.08 miles
- Strength: Shoulder circuit (3×15 shoulder presses, 3×15 neutral curls, 3×15 upright rows, 3×15 front raises, 3×15 side raises, 3×15 tricep kickbacks, 3×15 shoulder taps), 40 dead bugs
No photo for today. I had to get up at the crack of dawn to walk before A’s orthodontist appointment. Since he gets out of school so late, dawn appointments are how we roll.
Instead of me, here are the pugs. Leonidas is doing great. His nose looks good and he is absolutely unbothered by his stitches – they will come out this week.
I also found a new salad obsession, this Fall Chopped Salad. I made some adjustments (I couldn’t find tahini, I used spinach instead of kale, and I took the lazy way out with premade stuffing mix instead of making my own. Make this. I promise you will love it.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 6.1 miles, running + walking
- Strength: Bicep circuit (on knees 3×15 supinating curls, 3×15 regular curls, 3×15 hammer curls, 3×15 waiter curls). 45 dead bugs
Love those sunrise runs!
I’m also happy to be pushing a little more. It makes me feel more prepared.
Thursday
- Cardio: 4.46 miles, walking + 5.38 miles, cycling
I was super excited for Thursday. I had my walk scheduled.
After I got cleaned up, I had a lovely coffee date.
And then I took myself to get my brows shaped and tinted. My two self-care things are hair and nails, and I haven’t had anyone touch my eyebrows since well before the start of the pandemic. I finally took the plunge and am so glad I did. I have full brows with decent shape, but they are super light, so this really brought them a little more into focus
Lots of running around today, plus I needed to make dinner for a friends’ parents who are having some health issues. They love German food, which is not my comfort zone, so I tried some porkchops with sauerkraut and potatoes in the crock pot.
We had to pick up our monthly wine, so we had snacks and drinks at the wine bar while A was at practice.
Friday
- Cardio: 6.31 miles, running + walking
- Strength:Bicep circuit (on knees 3×15 supinating curls, 3×15 regular curls, 3×15 hammer curls, 3×15 waiter curls). 45 dead bugs
TGIF!
I had a solid run and workout session.
And I am loving my new Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22s. This is the Run Wild collection and they are perfect. I wanted the Breakfast Cereal style, but the Adrenaline version had an all-white upper, so that was a no go.
The football game was away that night. Mr PugRunner went to the game, and I volunteered to serve dinner to our band kids and then stayed back.
Saturday
- Cardio: 4.16 miles, walking
Oh, yeah! It’s Fall!
Again, I was up early for my walk! I didn’t like the Brooks Adrenaline breakfast cereal running shoes, but I sure did like the tank top!
I got in a quick walk, then I headed over to the dojo where A was helping with a belt test.
We got him lunch and then took him to his long Saturday band practice.
And then we busted into fall events! This little local pumpkin patch was just perfect.
Yes, I wore long sleeves and muck boots.
In the evening, I met a few ladies for our newly started banned book club. We read All Boys Aren’t Blue, and honestly, it blew me away. It was completely different from what I expected based on the controversy, and I highly recommend it.
Goal-getting + Thoughts
And instead of worrying about workouts this week, we are focusing on what will be Hurricane Ian. He’s moving our way, and it seems like landfall will be inevitable. Of course, we are hosting our school’s first marching band competition on Saturday, so the timing isn’t great. Then again, when is it ever?
We’ve stocked up on supplies, so keep your fingers crossed for us.
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training? Ever get your brows done? Are you in the path of the hurricane?
Liz Dexter says
Nice week, well done! I get to have sunrise runs again now and that pleases me, too!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
You’ve had lots of fun stuff going on! Aren’t sunrise run the best?
Wendy says
Your donuts reminded me that yesterday, we were at M’s rugby game with Cocoa and she was a little skittish. These students next to us had a box of donuts, and she was quite interested in those, lol! Even though she didn’t have any, she calmed down after that. She’s such a kook.
I need to get my eyebrows shaped. I think it would help my face a lot! Going to look into that.
Stay safe!
Deborah Brooks says
Hoping that the hurricane is not too bad for you all. I love the eyebrows they look great. Glad to see you are sticking with the strength training too!
Jenny says
Are you actually getting some cooler weather? We aren’t down here, yet. But we’re also gearing up for Ian! Ah, September in Florida. We have to keep forging ahead- nice week of workouts! And glad little Leo is doing so well.
Jessie says
Looks like a fun week! Those pugs 🙂 So cute! I miss our local monthly wine membership…I need to find a new one here!
Coco says
Sounds like you had a good week. Decent Donuts seems like an understatement — they look delicious.
We our having our firm retreat in Orlando Fri/Sat/Sun. All the airlines are inviting us to change plans, but it hasn’t been canceled yet.
I love that you are in a banned book club. Will have to check that one out.
Darlene says
Donuts coffee sunrises. Good week in my book.
Hope you get spared the hurricane.
That book club sounds like fun too.
Kimberly Hatting says
Our son (in the West Palm Beach area) was planning to fly home on Thursday for this weekend’s Iowa game. He was able to get his flight switched to tomorrow…so hopefully he will miss all the hurricane action. Stay safe!
Marcia says
Stay safe with Hurricane Ian, tis the season I guess. I’ve never had anything done to my eyebrows, maybe I should. What a cute photo op at the pumpkin patch! Too cute!
Kim G says
I’m not a huge donut fan but even I can admit that those look delicious!
Keeping my fingers crossed that Hurricane Ian downgrades – stay safe this week!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Oh no, I hope the bad weather passes by you! Stay safe!! Last year we had to cancel our Showcase of Bands the night before because we got a lot of rain and our field was flooded!! It’s so lame. It turned into a lake. We were super excited when the weather worked out for us this year.
Love the brows too. I have considered doing that because my brows are invisible!
Chocolaterunsjudy says
Hoping you get to stay put & the storm isn’t too bad.
Love the pugs’ photo. 🙂
Sounds like a busy — but productive & fun week for you! How nice of you to make that dinner. I’ve no doubt it was much appreciated.
