5 great things on the horizon in ZOOMA amelia island

October 14, 2022      10 Comments

It’s here! It’s here! It’s finally here! ZOOMA Amelia Island weekend is here and I’m so beyond ready. Today, let’s share five great things on the horizon in ZOOMA Amelia Island!

This Swag

The ZOOMA brand of races is synonymous with a top-notch experience, including all the swag. I registered a really long time ago, so I am pretty much excited all over again. I think I ordered so early, that I also get a jacket? Maybe? It’s anyone’s guess!

These Medals

Do I love gorgeous medals? Yes. That’s me. These beauties are just stunning, and while I won’t be collecting them all, that jellyfish is coming home with me!

An Automatic PR

No matter what, Sunday’s race should be a PR. I have never run a 12K before, at least not that I can remember, so that’s pretty exciting. It’s been a long time since I was able to take home a record for something.

A Racecation

My last racecation was maybe in Safety Harbor? Last October? That’s way too long, and it shall not happen again! Racecations are the best, especially when you get to share with friends you love.

This Meghan

Which brings us to this Meghan! We get the whole weekend together in Amelia Island! It’s just like old times – I, in fact, MET Meghan when we were both ambassadors for ZOOMA Amelia Island way back in the day. Oh, what a trip down memory lane. Let’s see if we can’t make this the best one yet!

What are five things you look forward to at a racecation?

I don’t think I’ve ever run a 12k either- that’s a fun distance. The swag and medals for this race are REALLY nice! Good luck, have fun, and I can’t wait to hear all about it.

Those MEDALS!! How pretty are they?! I especially love the jellyfish one with those purple, turquoise and orange colours. What I look forward to at a racecation – definitely the racecourse as its often completely new to me; I usually combine the race with some “holiday” excursions which also adds to the fun; and also, just being away from home for a little bit, even if it’s just the weekend.

I straight up swooned over the jellyfish. It’s so pretty in the sun.

I definitely need to get back in the racecation vibe.

In flight? You know it! I’m adjusting my schedu In flight? You know it!

I’m adjusting my schedule a little bit. Right now, I just can’t get up as early as I would like, but that’s ok. Things can be shuffled and rearranged.

Additionally, I rescued a big dog this morning with another neighbor. I heard galloping behind me as I was heading home and was almost tackled by a huge doodle-type. Between us, we were able to call the microchip service and get his address and she went to notify the owner. He wasn’t a good walker and he even knocked me down (very slowly and dramatically) while I held him and waited. He is home safe and sound and I’m wondering how many people carry leashes with them on the run just in case this happens. This is my second rescue in a few weeks. It’s becoming a thing.

Any plans this weekend? Any dog rescues while running?

Baby, it’s cold 🥶 outside! Peep that frost! Baby, it’s cold 🥶 outside!

Peep that frost!

Solid five miles this morning. I just started the strength training plan I won from @kimrunsthemitten so I was a little sore but I think the frosty air was good for my muscles.

It’s promising to be a pretty day so fingers crossed for more outdoors time!

How are you honoring this day?

It’s a beautiful weekend for the #staugfilmfest! It’s a beautiful weekend for the #staugfilmfest! We saw @tiger24film, presented by @staugalligatorfarm at the Lewis Auditorium, and it was truly an incredible and thought provoking documentary on the tenuous balance between wild animals in their natural habitat, humans, and the consequences that occur when the two come together.

There is still plenty of time to check out screenings at three locations this afternoon and evening! Visit https://www.staugfilmfest.com for ticket details!
