And finally, finally, finally, it’s racecation time. When I registered for ZOOMA Amelia Island, I wasn’t entirely sure it would happen. After all, there are so many variables in today’s world. So I tried to keep it pretty low-key until we were actually in the car and on our way! Join me for the start of the fun!

Sunday
- Cardio: 3.08 miles
We were exhausted after the band’s triumph the night before. There was nothing much on the calendar and that was just fine by all of us.

Monday
- Cardio: 5.87 miles, running + walking
Happy Monday!

Picture day and work for the kiddo. And it was just a regular day of work for me.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 4.49 miles, walking
Morning walk.

I used Tuesday to run errands, tidy up, and deliver earrings.

I also visited a new-to-me mini donut shop thanks to Yelp. It was yum.

Wednesday
- Cardio: 5.07 miles, running + walking
A great run.

It was a quiet morning – sophomores were supposed to take the PSAT, so the rest of the high school students were encouraged to stay home for a virtual day of learning. A did some school work, had lunch with a buddy and then went to work.
Thursday
- Cardio: 3.72 miles, walking
I went for a walk, but was struggling with horrible allergies. Our new neighbor did some serious tree trimming and it did me in.

I had a hair appointment, that helped boost my spirits.
And then we had an early date night. We were supposed to go to an event, but it got postponed, so we just had dinner instead.

Friday
- Cardio: 4.93 miles, running + walking
Heading out on a run definitely helped perk me up, but it was also finally time for our trip!

I got cleaned up and packed, and did some last minute work before Meghan arrived!
We grabbed lunch on the road and made it to Amelia Island by mid-afternoon. Our hotel was a few blocks off the beach, and we were thrilled to stroll over and soak in the salt air. Amazingly, my allergies disappeared.

We picked up our packets at the ZOOMA Ambassador VIP Party, and then grabbed late pizza for dinner. Our weekend was off to a great start.

Back home, the boys had a night of music, with ticket to the St. Augustine Symphony. A early wanted to go and I’m glad his dad could take him.

Saturday
- Cardio: 1 mile, walking
- Yoga: 1 hour flow
Up super early to head over to Main Beach. ZOOMA was hosting a beach walk and yoga floor and we were here for it.

While we explored Amelia Island, A competed his his second marching band show. This time, they took third in their division, went to finals, and took 5th overall out of 21! They also earned Superiors in Music, Visual Effect, Percussion, Auxillary, and General Effect. Amazing.
For a second year band, first year competing, second competition in school history, this is, apparently, epic). I can’t wait for next weekend.
At the end of the evening, we had dinner at a sports bar so Meghan could watch her football game, and then we turned in. Race day in the morning!
Goal-getting + Thoughts
What a weekend. It’s been so long since I was able to get away for a few days, and I really needed a low-key, race and friend centered break. it was fairly perfect.
This week will be a bit of a slow burn with a big build up to another competition! It’s going to be crazy.
Race report should be coming at you on Monday and I can’t wait to share all about our return to ZOOMA Amelia Island!
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training?

I’m craving a girls weekend in the worst way. A friend and I are scheming to figure out something for the winter (when none of us want to be in Iowa, LOL). As for the weekend, I watched a lot of football yesterday as well…glad to see my Spartans rallying back after a few nasty losses 😉
The Canes won, but I’m not having warm fuzzy feelings towards football right now LOL. But it was quite the weekend for it.
I hope you are able to get away. Lots of great races in Florida in the winter. Just saying.
I had so much FOMO seeing all the pictures from Amelia Island! I have a much needed sister week coming up, starting tomorrow!
Have the best time!
I hear you on needing a racecation (I think) & also on keeping low key cause yeah you never know.
Very happy you got it & already sounds like you had an amazing time! Congrats!

I needed it so badly.
I saw a bunch of Amelia Island photos looks like a great time down there. Looking forward to hearing all about it
I was trying to keep up but also trying to be present. I’ve struggled with that lately.
Ooh, I’m looking forward to the race recap! Sounds like an amazing time.
It’s crazy how busy marching band is. Our school doesn’t do competitions like that- the band director is more focused on concert band. But of course they do march during football season! My daughter and the other eighth graders got to join the high schoolers for a game last week and it was so fun. I can’t wait for next year!
It’s so interesting how the band directors differ. Ours is pretty young with tons of energy. He is super focused on his concert and jazz band, but he wants a world-class marching band. This was our second competition in school history – he said that it is unheard of for a new band like this to make it to finals and break top 5. He’s super proud and I’m just along for the ride. The kids seem to be loving it, so that counts, too.
Sounds like a great week! And a super fun weekend for all! Cant’ wait to read about your race!
Waiting on our photos before I can share!
Zooma does an amazing job. So happy to see that it all went well for you.
You deserve it.
It’s been YEARS since I’ve run one. I would most likely go again.
