This week started with a race and ended with a 20 hour band-a-thon! Whew! I’m wiped out! Are you ready? Let’s do this!
Sunday
- Cardio: ZOOMA Amelia Island 12K, running + walking
As you know, Meghan and I ran the ZOOMA Amelia Island 12K on Sunday morning. I am aiming for a race report on Wednesday (hoping our race photos are ready!).
Long story short, it was a lovely morning.
After we cleaned up and loaded the car, we celebrated at brunch.
And then made our way to our respective homes. It was a wonderful, whirlwind weekend.
Monday
- Cardio: 4.13 miles, running + walking
Guess who got to go to the beach? This girl!
It was much-needed. The kids had the day off from school, and A had a fundraiser for Scouts first thing in the morning. I dropped him off first, and then took care of my miles.
He took his job very seriously. He hasn’t been able to spend much time with Scouts due to marching band, so I was glad he could get some service hours with his troop.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 3.15 miles, walking
Morning walk.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 6.11 miles, running + walking
This run felt fabulous and I am so grateful for it.
I finally started making some progress on my Halloween costume. I am going as Anne Bolyen, inspired by Six. My original costume did not work, but I think this one will be better for me. It’s not going to be quite as shiny, but the point will get across. I also learned how to dye fabric on the stove and I think this is going to be cute.
Thursday
- Cardio: 3.36 miles, walking
I had a lovely morning walk.
And then I had to hustle to my brow appointment. It’s honestly so relaxing and I love the results.
Friday
- Cardio: 5.68 miles, running + walking
Strong run with nice weather. I love when it feels great.
I had brunch with a friend I haven’t seen in a while, and that was amazing.
Then I worked on laundry and getting ready for a big band weekend. I wanted everything to go smoothly, and that means being prepared.
Saturday
- Cardio: 1 mile, walking
No pictures this morning. It was a quick mile.
Why? Well, A needed to be at the school at 4 AM, and we were in the car about an hour behind him. We made our way to Orlando for the BOA Regional Competition, where our band was competing in the preliminaries. It was a LONG day.
Our kids played brilliantly, and while they didn’t make it into the finals, they did turn out an absolutely brilliant performance, got to spend a few hours in Disney Springs and then came back to the Stadium to watch the finals as spectators.
We are so proud.
On a side note, I was able to break out my DSLR after about five years (it works!) to help get some images of the musicians in action.
We spent the day volunteering, watching bands, and brunching. As we do. We got home entirely too late, but it was perfect all the same.
Goal-getting + Thoughts
And with that. Sleep.
I start Week 5 of Couch to 5K this week, and that’s going beautifully. Im also doing something called Planksgiving, which sounds absolutely terrible. Who wants to join? It’s a free 30-day core challenge for runners. So. I mean. Sure. Here’s the link to register.
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training?

That definitely does sound like a whirlwind! Congrats on surviving it all. Too bad the bad didn’t make it into the finals but sounds like they still had a good time.

I was a little disappointed but thrilled that the kids took it in stride. I’m not mad that we got to go home early, though.
Kimberly Hatting says
That was a busy week! Great job squeezing in all the fitness fun along with everything else 😉
runswithpugs says
Always!
Wendy says
You look so happy in this post, clearly that girls’ weekend really agreed with you! My hubs still uses his old DLSR to take pix of my youngest playing rugby. It still works great and does the job.
runswithpugs says
I was so happy that it charged up. I used to take pics a long time ago but my schedule got too hectic so I stopped. I missed it.
Darlene says
Phew you are busy. But kids are only young once.
I’m volunteering at a Halloween race. Costume? We’ll see. I think your will look great.
runswithpugs says
It’s almost done. I will obviously finish it hours before the party.

Hooray, I spot a Sousaphone! Sounds like a good week. Glad c25k is going well. I did my first run/walk this morning after being out with my back for a couple of weeks. I think I’m going to get away with just ramping it up gently, as it all felt OK today.
runswithpugs says
Gently is the way. I am glad you are able to get out there!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Congrats to A and the band on their great performance at the competition. They’re a new band, yet it sounds like they’re really finding their groove. It must be so exciting for your son!
runswithpugs says
They are doing so well. He loves it.
Deborah Brooks says
sounds like another busy and fun week! Looking forward to reading your race recap. Planksgiving does not sound fun at all LOL
runswithpugs says
it’s the wooooooorst!
Marcia says
Sounds like the Marching Band competition was lots of fun. Congrats to A on all his hard work. How great that he loves it! Our band does not compete, I’m not sure why. They are performing at Disney World in February though. That will be here before we know it!
runswithpugs says
It’s a lot – lots of time, lots of volunteers, lots of expense. There are bands that have full, logo-d semi trucks to transport their gear, with teams of roadies. The start up is insane. Since we are a new school (Opened last year), we are building all of this program from scratch. Their director has a plan and a dream through, and his kids are inspired to make it happen.
How exciting to perform in Disney! I think they would love that.
Jenny says
I’m laughing at “I’m doing Planksgiving, which sounds absolutely terrible.” Ha ha, it sounds so terrible I might join you! Now that I quit Peloton, I’ve been wanting to add a little more core into my workouts. I’ll check it out!
Sounds like a busy and fun week. Congrats to A and his band- I think you said this was the first year they’re competing, and they did great!
runswithpugs says
It’s been awful, LOL!
This is their first year competing and we are so proud. It’s intimidating to get out there with those veteran bands but they are holding their own!
Coco says
That post-race brunch looks amazing!
Congrats on making it through the band event!
