Hello, Happy New Year, and all that jazz. It’s 2023. Normally, I would have a lot more excitement and enthusiasm, but the year isn’t starting off as wonderfully as I hoped. So there’s that. It’s disappointing, really, but what can you do?
Sunday
- Cardio: 5 miles, running
Happy New Year’s Day!
I opted to run on Sunday due to some scheduling conflicts during the week. It went well, even after some New Year’s wine.
New Year’s Day is also Mr PugRunner’s birthday, so we had breakfast together. He hasn’t been feeling great, so he parked on the couch to watch football, and then we went out to dinner. It wasn’t a late night.
Monday
- Cardio: 4.16 miles, walking
A had a super early orthodontist appointment, so my walk had to wait till after. His braces should be off by summer!
Tuesday
- Cardio: 5.59 miles, walking
I had time for a really nice walk, which improved my mood greatly.
I got everything handled at home, and then took A and his buddy to the Bass Pro Shops in Daytona for some shopping and lunch. It was nice to hang out with them, even if it did make for a long day.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 5.02 miles, running + .53 miles, walking
Run day, fun day!
I had to hustle.
I had a long client meeting, then I had to take A to get his braces wire adjusted, and THEN I had to check in on my parents’ cats. It was a long day in the car and I was so glad to get home at the end of the day.
Thursday
- Cardio: 3.5 miles, walking
Thursday was a bit of a poop show. I walked with J.
A started back to school and I spent the rest of the day chauffeuring Mr. PugRunner to appointments. Good times.
Friday
- Cardio: 5.06 miles, running + .53 miles, walking
- InfraslimX – 30 minutes
TGIF! The cold rolled back in and it made for a glorious run. I kept it to five miles instead of six, because I had a date with the InfraslimX.
The InfraslimX is pretty insane. It’s like a reclined cycling system, but where the clients lower body is encased in a pod that provides ozone, infrared, collagen, and vacuum therapies. Outside the pod, clients have the option to use a nasal canula for oxygen and aromatherapy. In a 30 minute session, clients can burn up to 1200 calories (I burned 660). Normally, this isn’t my jam but the pedaling portion made me feel like I was getting a fitness benefit so i signed up with a friend on a Black Friday special.
It was fun. I don’t know that it’s an all the time thing, but I had a blast, especially with the pressure of the vacuum therapy (I’m a dedicated weighted blanket person, so that made sense).
When it was over, I was both tired and starving, so I had coffee with my friend, and then treated myself to lunch at the marina food trucks. This mojo pork power bowl and craft blueberry lemonade were amazing.
Saturday
- Cardio: 5.83 miles, walking
J and I went for a nice morning walk. I’m loving the cold snap, so it was all good.
The boys went to the driving range and I hit the farmer’s market.
I cleaned out the pantry, again, and made it very clear that I expect everyone to keep up with it, instead of cramming things in willy nilly. There’s still a little more work to be done, but it was an exhausting endeavor, and I was over it.
Goal-getting + Thoughts
So. Here we are.
I’m a bit crushed and overwhelmed at the moment. I’m hoping that I can get back on top of everything soon. Decluttering is helping me with my clarity, but it’s also time-consuming and taking me away from other things I need to get done. I can never win!
That being said, running is good. I feel good. A neighbor saw me walking today and said I looked great and was losing weight (not my goal, but I have felt out of shape lately, so for me that was affirming to hear).
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!
How was your week in training? Have you heard of or tried InfraslimX?
Debbie says
This such a busy time of year with closing out the year-end, getting things ready for taxes, undecorating from Christmas, decluttering in general, etc. I’m tired just thinking about it! You remind me that I need to whip my pantry back into shape!
Deborah Brooks says
Well, it sure looks like you area quite productive and active to me! You get a lot done in a week.
Jenny says
Well, I’m glad your running is going well! I’m also feeling overwhelmed this week. I’ve realized that once I get behind, it’s impossible to catch up. I’ll think “that’s okay, I’ll do x, y and z on Sunday” but by Sunday there are all sorts of NEW things that need to be done… we have one more week of craziness, and then I’m hoping to get my life back.
Hope Mr. Pugrunner is feeling better!
Wendy says
Sorry to hear that you are feeling so overwhelmed! And I hope that your hubs is feeling better. Life sure doesn’t get easier does it?
i have never heard of that infraslim thing. It doesn’t sound like my thing. Glad you got to try it.
Susanne says
I hadn’t heard about the Infraslimx thing – sounds a bit odd to me but I can imagine it was fun to try.
I’m so sorry to hear about you feeling overwhelmed. Good for you that you could get some walking and running done, that certainly helps, or at least it does for me. I hope you (and your Mr too) feel better soon.
Kimberly Hatting says
The Infraslimx thing sounds interesting, but I haven’t heard of it either. It hasn’t made its way to small-town, Iowa, LOL. I hope things mellow-out for you soon…
Michelle says
I’m sorry you’re feeling overwhelmed. I really hope things settle down for you soon. And I hope that Mr. PugRunner is feeling better!
I’ve never heard of Infraslimx – sounds interesting. Do you think you’ll do it again?
Coco says
I haven’t heard of InfraslimX, but it sounds interesting. Did your friend like it?
Sorry you had a stressful week, but you got some nice runs in!
Marcia says
I totally understand that feeling of overwhelm and I think chipping away at purging/decluttering etc helps with a sense of progress. Thing 2 doesn’t head back to school until tomorrow. It feels like such a long break for her. I’ve never heard of the InfraslimX. Sounds like somebody cooked up quite a contraption! Haha!

It’s kind of crazy. I’m going to post about it. I don’t think it’s absolute nonsense, but I don’t know that I will continue with it regularly.
Shathiso says
Decluttering is huge for me this year and can’t wait to get stuck in it. Like you say it can be so exhausting, but it really does help with clarity. So well done on that pantry!
PS: Happy Birthday to the New Year’s Baby in the House! My husband is a Boxing Day Baby, and we are always exhausted!
runswithpugs says
Holiday birthdays are the hardest birthdays. I feel bad for him LOL. Mine sometimes falls on Mother’s Day so that can be tricky, too.
Kim G says
Happy belated birthday to Mr PugRunner! That’s such a great birthday to have 🙂
Your pantry looks amazing and so well organized! I would love for my pantry to look like that but even when I clean it out it only lasts for like 2 days, lol.
runswithpugs says
I told the boys they better not mess it up! It’s always them.
Jessie says
InframSlimx..interesting! I’m usually willing to give things a good, that one doesn’t sound too risky 🙂
The de-cluttering looks great, but yes, so much work isn’t it? I need to do some at our London flat already and we’ve only been here 6 months.
I’m sorry you’re feeling overwhelmed, but the first step is just recognizing it, right?
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Sorry your husband wasn’t feel very well on his big day, and lately. That is stressful. I hope things get better for you and the family!
I totally agree with your statement about the pantry. My husband does the grocery shopping and stuff ends up all over the place. Annoying!!
Zenaida Arroyo says
Sorry to hear you are feeling overwhelmed. I hope things get better. Maybe some of those things that need to be done do not need to be done soon. That might give you some breathing room. Great job on the pantry!
