I’m happy to announce that my winter race schedule is off to a fabulous start. It’s been a while, but I’m back to the goal of running (at least) one race a month, and I’ve got some awesome options ahead.
Resolution Run 5K
The Resolution Run is one of the first 5Ks of the winter race season. It’s a lovely course along the St. Johns River, which makes for a nice view, and great post-race photos. Runners get a custom medal and a long-sleeve t-shirt, both of which are great incentives for getting up early on a Saturday morning.
Jaguars / Novo Nordisk 5K Stadium Challenge
We move to February, and I have my eye on the Jaguars / Novo Nordisk 5K Stadium Challenge. This event has moved from the sweltering heat to (hopefully) cooler temps in February. The bad news? Runners have to navigate the concourse ramps of the stadium. The good news is that runners get a custom medal and long-sleeve techical T, the chance to run on the field while appearing on the Jumbotron, a free beer at the finish (21 and up, please), and a post-race glow party. I think this will be a go.
Gate River Run 15K
I am a little bummed to report that the Gate River Run may be on hold this year. A has a band competition that may take place the same day, so I am holding off on registration until we get the schedule. If I have to take a pass, I’ll just replace it with something else, but I was looking for a bit of a redemption after my injury-riddled attempt last year.
Rapor Run 3K
Regardless of how the Gate shakes out, I’ll be toe-ing the start line of the Raptor Run 3k at the Alligator Farm! This is such a fun event, and even though it’s a 3K, I would hate to miss it. The course is really nice (through a lovely neighborhood), an actual raptor runs the race and takes ton of pics after, and all proceeds go to a great cause.
I am linking up with Kookyrunner and Zenaida this Tuesday for Tuesday Topics!
What are your winter race plans?

So excited to read about your race plans for this winter! I hope A’s band is on a separate day from the Gate River race as I know all about “redemption” races! I have a few to redeem myself this year! Of course, mine are summer races, but hoping to get at least 3 or 4 done by April. None have been officially announced yet but hoping they are soon so I can firm them up on my calendar.

It won’t be the end of the world, obviously, but it would be nice to get the Gate AND the concert. I hope you get some firm plans in place soon!

I love your goal of running one race a month!
I’ve never seen the 3K distance for a race but that’s pretty cool – I would definitely try it!

It’s an odd distance, but it’s fun.

This looks like a lovely plan for the winter, definitely keeps one going! Nice with some shorter races too. Later when I’m more confident I’d love to find something like the 3k or 5k. In the meantime I’ll keep training and I have my February challenge to look forward to.
