After all the chaos of the last two weeks, we are (tentatively) back to normal. Ish? It’s hard to say what that is anymore, but that’s ok. We will figure it out.

Sunday

  • Cardio: 3.79 miles, walking

A little bit of rain didn’t stop me.

We spent a good chunk of the day just cleaning up from the carpet install. There was so much that was left out and untouched when Mr PugRunner went in the hospital and while I didn’t want to clean, it felt good to have everything tidied and away.

Monday

  • Cardio: 6.29 miles, running

Let’s run! It was warmer out and that was kind of a bummer. I like the colder mornings.

Coincidentally, this was a week of self-care. Monday meant new nails. I love this adorable Valentine’s Day design.

Tuesday

  • Cardio: 3.76 miles, walking

Sure, it was a little muggy, but that sky was perfection. I do love a good blue sky.

Wednesday

  • Cardio: 5.02 miles, running + 3.89 miles, walking

Getting up has been extra hard (I’m just not sleeping well), but Wednesday morning worked out just fine.

Thursday

  • Cardio: 3.75 miles, walking

Foggy mornings are always hard, but I pushed through. I had a lot on my plate for the day.

First, a long-anticipated hair appointment. I loved it.

From there, I picked up Mr PugRunner to take him to his cardiologist follow-up. It was a fantastic report. His heart is actually in really good shape, and his blood pressure is under control (with meds). Nephrologist next week to see how those kidneys are doing.

Friday

  • Cardio: 5.31 miles, running + 3.33 miles, walking

So our run started out hot and steamy. Towards the end, a chilling wind started blowing, and before I made it home, I was absolutely pounded by what was almost hail. Neat.

No time to dwell, however. Mr PugRunner and I had plans for a weekend in Amelia Island. I was a little bitter because of of the rain (any time I try to do anything fun, it rains, lately), but the weather shifted and so did my mood.

We checked into the Omni Amelia Island, for the first time and we fell in love. It’s a beautiful property, and it’s the first time since the pandemic that we found a hotel was all systems go, with staffing and amenities operational. I know things aren’t better, but this bit of normalcy was comforting.

Lavender champagne at check-in? Don’t mind if I do.

We took a chilly walk on the beach before dinner. And we opted to make use of the resort’s dinner restaurants because they offered a shuttle and I didn’t feel like driving. Fabulous.

Saturday

  • Cardio: 1 mile, walking

Look at that sunrise.

After breakfast, we drove to the beach for a horseback ride. It was windy AF (gusts of up to 20mph), but it was pretty fantastic, all the same. It was super hard to get riding pictures with the conditions, so this was the best I could do.

Next up was a really yummy lunch, and then we spent the afternoon playing mini golf. Not to brag, but I won.

A quiet dinner followed, with live music in the hotel lobby. We didn’t stay up too late, because we had an early morning ahead.

Goal-getting + Thoughts

And there we have it. This week will be super busy with events and appointments. I am hopeful to be able to fit in my strength sessions and get back in that routine. Slowly, but surely, right?

I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!

How was your week in training? Have you had to battle inconvenient rain lately? Do you ride horses?

So glad to read that your hubs is doing so much better and you are feeling like you are getting back to normal. We went to Miami for the weekend and it literally rained all day Saturday and today. We had one nice day Friday. Alas, that’s the breaks sometimes

Oh, no! I am so excited for the Brightline train to open in Orlando, so I can do a faster trip to Miami. Of course that doesn’t help with your rainy weekend.

That’s great news about Mr PugRunner! How wonderful for you to get away on a trip to just relax, so well deserved. Lavender champagne? Is it as fantastic as it sounds? Good to see you keeping up the running and walking. I adore the foggy morning photos!

Funny story: I hate lavender. It makes me edgy and angry, and not relaxed. However, this was so pretty with the purple syrup, and just felt so fancy. lt wasn’t terrible, but I couldn’t finish it.

That property looks amazing! Glad you were able to get away for a bit.

I have ridden horses, but I’m not really all that comfortable ON them. Lol at the horse giving you the side eye!

Anything new, good or bad, is hard. Things will settle down.

It was our first time staying here and it was really perfect. I want to go back with A when it’s warmer and we can do more with the hiking and the beach.

I am all about riding. This was a little nervewracking because of the wind and the lack of communication (we couldn’t hear our tour guide over the gusts). I think my mare was pretty annoyed that she wasn’t the first one back to the trailer. She had a lot of opinions about leading the group.

Yay! So glad your husband is doing well and that you guys were able to get away. This time of year in Florida is iffy. It could be BEAUTIFUL. Or it could be cold and rainy. Or super hot. Oh, we had a super foggy morning as well this week. But it sounds like you did some fun activities. Glad things are starting to feel “normal” again!

Balance is an area where I sometimes struggle, physically and emotionally. It can be a challenge to fit in all the things I want and all the things I need. I don’t always love doing the mundane or tedious tasks that ultimately lead to the foundations of the things I am more passionate about.

I am taking a little more time to build on the basics, and find my balance. It’s going to lead to a healthier and happier me.

How do you find your balance? Do you struggle with the basics?

Sometimes, the weather is too beautiful not to run Sometimes, the weather is too beautiful not to run.

I worked through some cardio under the blue skies and in the fresh air and then came home to @runsmartofficial’s base building boot camp.

There was A LOT of focus on balance and feet and ankles, as well as ground work in the form of different planks and push-ups.

The movements were small but effective and my legs are certainly burning! It’s going to get harder as we go, but I’m excited to spend more time on my stability and form, to see if it makes me stronger and more efficient over time.

This morning, I started on a new training plan wit This morning, I started on a new training plan with @runsmartofficial. I have a goal race in May, so I am going to see if I can make some improvements along the way.

I can admit that I am built more for distance than speed, but I am taking a crack and improving my pace over the next ten weeks. Keep your fingers crossed 🤞🏻!
