And here we are, at the end of yet another month. We are 33.333% through one of my personal worst years, and I’m torn between rushing it along and hating to see time fly by. So let’s talk about what I have to runfess.
For this month’s trip to the runfessional, let’s join up with Marcia’s Healthy Slice…
I runfess…
That I needed new shoes and could NOT resist these Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22s in the Disco style. Be still, my heart. I am all about bright running shoes, and these were just so gorgeous and different. They were also on sale, so that’s even better.
I runfess…
That I gave up on my run streak. I was doing so well for so long, and hoped to continue the trend. However, life happens, and sometimes, getting in that full, dedicated mile wasn’t in the cards. After my last interruption, I just threw in the towel. I walk or run most days as it is. That should be enough.
I runfess…
That as much as I hate landscaping and gardening, our Troop mulch fundraiser was both lucrative and productive for our Scouts. We all worked so hard selling, delivering, and spreading 19 pallets worth of it, and I am so pleased that our efforts mean that A has completely paid for his Philmont trip, and some of his Troopmates have also paid their way to summer camp or Philmont.
I runfess…
That I am not registered for any races at the moment. There are three in May I would like to run, but the schedule is so hectic. I *think* I might push for the one on Mother’s Day weekend, or my favorite on Memorial Day. After all, that would mark the 10th anniversary of my first ever race!
I runfess…
That I am finally establishing care with a PCP on Monday. Ick. I acted like an adult, made the appointment, completed my paperwork, and I will follow through with the appointment. Now I just have to schedule a mammogram, and I’ll be all caught up with being a responsible human. Being a grown up is absolutely no fun.

Good for you, scheduling with a PCP. I just had my annual checkup with my PCP–I go every year, but it’s always hard for me to schedule, for some reason. I adore my PCP–I’ve been going to her for years! She’s the one physician that ‘gets me’. I asked her if she was retiring soon and she said no, so that was a huge relief.
No run streaking here! It’s too much pressure!

I need to schedule a mammogram as well. And the dentist. Except my husband is displeased with our dentist so I guess it’s up to me to find a new one.
You definitely should celebrate the 10th anniversary of your first race!
Nothing wrong with ending a streak if you’re not feeling it. If the time is ever right, you can always start a new one.

Those shoes are so fun!
Glad you made your PCP appointment – I’ve been trying to knock out all of my health appointments as well. I admit I’ve been dragging my feet on my colonoscopy but will get it booked soon.

I agree. Do that race. You will regret it if you don’t.
Streaks are meant to be broken. The important thing is that you tried.
My year hasn’t gone the way I planned. I’m skipping races like I never did. I guess my injury has made me paranoid. And honestly slower that I’d like to be.
Things will turn for us both.

Wow, those shoes! I wish Brooks fit my fat feet better- they have such cute styles.
I’ve never done a run streak. I’d like to one day- maybe one of the shorter ones like Thanksgiving-New Years. I think it would be fun, but I can also see how it could be stressful. If it doesn’t work for you and what’s going on in your life right now, then it’s not a good thing. You do walk or run most days, so you’re doing great.
Yes, being a grownup can be no fun. I have to do a bone scan this summer, and get to a dermatologist for a skin scan (ugh.) It never ends.

It is not fun going to the Dr but so important to keep up w those yearly visits. As you know, 2023 has not been the best for me either but I am determined to end it on a higher note than it started. Let’s do it together!

I hope the last 2/3 of the year are much better!
It would be fun to run the 10th anniversary race. I love commemorating milestones like that!

Yes those doctor visits are important for us humans as they are for our fur kids (you probably wouldn’t skip any appointments for your pugs, right) 🙂

It sounds like you’ve had a busy and productive month! Best of luck with your upcoming races and establishing care with your PCP. Keep up the great work!
