Cheers to another May! We are starting this month at a sprint – it’s the last month of school, as well as the conclusion of some things and the start of others. It’s going to be a lot. Is that ok? Sure.
Sunday
- Cardio: 2.80 miles, walking
- Mulch delivery + spreading
Happy Sunday! We slept in, and I went out with the dogs and without.
We had another three-ish hours of loading, hauling and spreading mulch, and then it was time for time on the couch. That made me happy.
Monday
- Cardio: 5.4 miles, running + 1.04 miles, walking
Whether I slept through my alarm, or didn’t set my alarm, I sprang awake five minutes before I was supposed to meet J. This NEVER happens. Never.
Obviously, I was worn out, but I pushed through, with the reward of a nail appointment. Yay!
And then the rest of the day was a lot of driving around as I got shifted to car pool duty. The life of a chauffeur-mom.
Tuesday
- Cardio: 4 miles, walking
Back at it, again. I wasn’t too terribly sore from the mulching, and I see that as a huge win.
A picked up another shift at his job, so I was on hand to run him back and forth, and finally we ended up at the Scouts meeting. I was thrilled because I was in charge of the accounting for the fundraiser, and all my numbers matched. For a non-math person, this was a huge stressor and and and equally huge victory.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 4.87 miles, running + 2.04 miles, walking
Although I got out on time, this run got cut short by more smoke. Also, both J’s children weren’t feeling well, so I had to take A to school. With the threat of rain and the terrible air quality, I didn’t really mind.
In the evening, we had our Arts Boosters Board and General Meeting, as well as our elections. I was re-elected as Director of Communications and Social Media.
Thursday
- Cardio: 2.09 miles, walking
A quick, very early walk.
A and the wind ensemble is back at it, this time in Gainesville for the MPA State! They played the best they have all year, and I was absolutely blown away.
UF has a little cultural plaza, so after the show, we visited their Harn Art Museum and Butterfly Rainforest. It was magical. We had lunch near campus, checked out the stadium, and then drove home. A stayed with the band and got in around 7PM.
Friday
- Cardio: 3.59 miles, running + 2.03 miles, walking
TGIF! Let’s go!
First, a run. This one wasn’t my best.
After that, I scrambled to meet my mom for a morning of shopping at Vintage Market Days! I love these open-air vendor markets. They are so cute and fun with so many creative gift and decor ideas.
That night, it was off to watch a volleyball game nearby, and then back to bed to get back at it in the morning. Some days are like that!
Saturday
- Cardio: 2.38 miles, walking
Happy 15th Birthday to A!
I started with a quick walk to work out my legs.
We spent the morning at his band’s pancake breakfast fundraiser. He also won a Band Camp Survival Basket from the basket raffle! The best part is that it includes a delivery of frozen treats to his section during band camp! Whoo hoo!
When we were finished, my parents took him to Scouts camp for the rest of the weekend, and we headed out on a Distillery tour, dinner, and shenanigans. It was a blast, ending with a booze-free bar and an old-timey arcade with skeeball and pong.
What are you celebrating lately?
I am linking up with the Weekly Rundown, with Confessions of A Mother Runner and Running on the Fly! Check them out!

I’m always amazed at everything you squeeze into a week! TIme on the couch? Yes, please. It looks like there are just so many fun things to do in your area of Florida.
Just curious if the bad weather that brought a tornado to Palm Beach affected you at all?
runswithpugs says
So we are about 4 hours from Palm Beach. We got storms, winds, and tornado watches, but not the actual tornadoes and hail.

Happy Birthday to A! How fun that he won a prize on his birthday — that treat delivery is such a fun idea for a gift basket!
I always love your manicures!

His section was so excited! Frozen treats after band camp are a huge win, especially in Florida!

May is always a really busy month for us as well. Happy birthday to your son-all grown up! Nice job fitting in all your workouts this week
runswithpugs says
It’s so much!
Jenny says
Wow, you guys are busy- and A is REALLY busy! He does a lot of activities! I know, this time of year is crazy. We have something on the calendar for every night this week, and it’s all my daughter. Either rehearsals, concerts, or attending other concerts. It’s going to be a crazy month.
Nice job on running and/or walking every single day!!!

Band is all-consuming. And now that he is part of the leadership team, it’s even more hectic. But that’s ok. It keeps him motivated!
Kim G says
Another busy, but fun week for you! I can’t believe that it’s already May – It feels like this year is going by so quickly. Happy belated Birthday to your son!
runswithpugs says
This year is FLYING. I don’t like it.

You always have so much going on! How lovely to visit a butterfly rainforest, and a distillery too. A vintage market sounds like fun – they used to have something like that at one of the local farmer’s market around here.
I’m impressed you manage to get some cardio done every day! I hope the fires are calming down.
runswithpugs says
The cardio is good for my ankle. And my mood LOL. The butterflies were just so pretty.
Stacie Seidman says
BUSY! Happy Birthday to A! I can’t believe he’s 15 already!
runswithpugs says
I can’t believe it either!

Happy birthday to A! Frozen treats is a great win!! Our kids are very thankful when someone brings them popsicles after band camp in the summer. Congrats on their performance at MPA States too. This school year is speeding to an end waaaaay too fast.
