And we are at the six month point, halfway through the year, as marked by coffee dates. Which is a perfectly valid way to mark the year, as far as I’m concerned. Can we please have a moment for this wallpaper? It’s the perfect background for my iced coffee with marshmallow syrup and cold foam.
After reading here, head on over to visit Coco and Deborah, our awesome link-up hosts.
Over coffee, I would tell you that…
I never shared my nails this month! This is probably one of my favorite sets! The colors are reversed on the other hand, which makes it even more fun.

We have a new driver in the house! It’s crazy! He had some delays taking his online course, due to his schedule, but the next thing I knew, he finished, passed both his tests, and we were at the DMV! He’s already driven home from there and home from work (not with me, yet). I just can’t believe it.

We are almost finished with my medical catch-up saga. All my lab work is done and got the official approval from my doctor. I had my very first mammogram today and it was as good as an experience as it could be. The tech was super cool and friendly. Is it enjoyable? Absolutely not. But she made it as comfortable as she could, and I was grateful. She also told me that there is a 70% chance that I will be called back, since they have nothing to compare my scans to, and that I will have to go to the far less convenient and far more threatening downtown location for that visit. While it wasn’t great to hear that, I appreciated her candor and the mental preparation.
Over coffee, I would tell you that…
I’m streaking for the third year! For every day in June, I’ll be completing at least one, dedicated mile of running, jogging, or walking. While this is the 10th Anniversary of this awesome virtual event, I think this will be my third attempt. Maybe my fourth. Either way, I think it will go pretty smoothly and we will see if I can take it beyond the month of June.
Over coffee, I would tell you that…
I am excited about Global Runners’ Day next week. I won’t be able to attend our local event, but I did sign up for a free virtual one, that will be just as great. Want to join? You can register here!
What would you tell me over coffee?

I am not a run streaker but I like the challenge you have that can be running or walking daily. That is one I would do as well. I always feel better when I get outside daily. Your son looks so grown up! Have fun with the driving lessons 🙂

He IS so grown up! It’s crazy!
Darlene S Cardillo says
Not a streaker but I try to run or walk everyday… just don’t keep track.
Love your nails… I always just do French…
GL with your son’s driving!!!!

I’m going to need it! My heart can’t handle him behind the wheel.

I like that the streak includes walking. Living in the city I can’t think of many days when I don’t walk a mile for something! My run streak is almost to 1200 days! (Sunday). Time flies.
Good luck with the driving!!
runswithpugs says
I don’t want to say it’s an easy streak because that’s not fair, but most people do manage a consistent, unbroken mile, whether it’s walking the dogs, or walking in a city or whatever. I like that it sets the precedent for consistency.
Jenny says
Ooh, have you driven with A yet? It is NERVE WRACKING! Beginning drivers are… unpredictable. Something tells me that A will be very responsible though.
I always have to have a follow-up ultrasound to my mammograms because of my “dense breast tissue.” They never find anything wrong (other than dense breast tissue, apparently.) I think this is the case for a lot of women. Anyway congrats on getting that done!
Have fun with your streak!
runswithpugs says
Funny you should say that. I rode with him yesterday. I had to sit in back and keep quiet. There was one moment of terror, but he did great. Fortunately, he didn’t drive home. I don’t think I could have managed LOL.

Love your nails. So cute. And not just because they’re purple.

🙂 It was a great color combo!

Been there with the first-time drivers! I’ve also been there when they get their official license & are (mostly) free to drive (mostly) anywhere. I was amazed how quickly i took advantage of that for random “we’re out of milk” errands, LOL.
runswithpugs says
I know I will appreciate when he can take himself places but he’s still my baby boy and people here are terrible drivers. Back roads are fine, but 95 is terrifying.
Michelle says
Yikes I almost forgot about GLoal Running Day – thanks for the reminder!
I have to say you always have the most fun manicures 🙂
Amazing that A now has his license – those first few times they’re out on their own definitely take some getting used to!
Have fun streaking!
runswithpugs says
Ha! I’m forgetting all the great days this year!
I love nail art so much.
It’s just his permit, so he is in the car with us for now. Driving in Florida is terrifying (there are zero rules that anyone cares about), so it’s a lot.
Coco says
A getting his DL is such a huge milestone!
I’m glad you’re about caught up with your Dr’s appts. I had a few this week, but still have more to catch up on ….
I think I’ll be in Boston on GRD — I hope I get to go for a run there!
runswithpugs says
Just his permit for now! Kid is only 15! He has to slow down!
Just that colonoscopy. They finally reached out on Friday, so I will do that this week.
I hope you get in that run, too!
Fairytales and Fitness says
How exciting to have a new driver, although I’m sure that comes with its own set of worries for you.
I like that the streak includes walking as well. That sounds like something I could get on board with!
runswithpugs says
It’s amazing, but also awful. He’s so excited, though. And he’s honestly doing so great.
I like the walking part of the streak. I know streaks are supposed to be a challenge, but so many people are challenged by consistency, and so this is something doable and accessible for so many.
Wendy says
Congrats to your son! When my boys were driving with their permits, I did most of the driving with them, including that 5 hour drive to and from northern Wisconsin. The hubs didn’t have the nerves for it, apparently. (eyeroll)
Great job getting your mammogram! I’ve been called back multiple times because I have dense breasts. Yay me. I also had a biopsy once. I’d rather have all the scans, especially in light of my sister’s history with breast cancer.
runswithpugs says
I don’t have the nerves either lol! This is not my wheelhouse.
The mammogram was fine. I’m just an anxious worrier, so I appreciated the tech telling me exactly what to expect, why and when.
Chocolaterunsjudy says
Congrats to A! Good luck with the running streak & hope you won’t have a follow up on your mammogram. I still definitely have some medical catch up to do.

Love the nails! I still have my depeche mode ones, which is fine as we have another concert next week. my nail techs are both always so booked up so I hope I can still type and take out my contact lenses before the next appointment!
I have to say I am so glad we do it differently in the Netherlands. I don’t think I could stomach it at all to be in the car while my stepkids were learning! But here you have to go through a driving school, you have to be minimum 18 and it’s pretty expensive. Both of my skids have their license now but it’s a bizarre concept1 When I was still in the States I wouldn’t even get in the car while my brother was driving (he’s 4 yrs younger) LOL!
hopefully no callback on the mammo and that you get through the colonoscopy as smoothly as possible.
runswithpugs says
In NJ, it was permit at 16 and license at 17. You did the written course in high school, and driving course via a paid class. It’s even more scary here, because we are rural, so kids can drive easy sooner if it’s farm equipment. A is even in class with a kid who has been driving actual race cars for years. If we get an insurance break, we will have him do the driver’s course, but otherwise, Mr PugRunner is just fine with going out with him.
I like the Netherlands way better – but I bet you also have more walkable cities, with more public transportation options. That’s just not the case here.
Farrah says
Your nails look so nice! I got some stuff to do my own nails at home but have been super lazy. Sometime this summer though, I plan to break it out!!
I’m a terrible streaker but like the option to run or walk — I definitely walk daily, but not so much on the running.
runswithpugs says
I wish I could do my own nails. but that’s not where my talents lie.
Marcia says
Congrats to the new driver in the house! That is a huge milestone! He is growing up so fast. I didn’t have the nerves to drive with our kids but my husband reprimanded them in a way that made them nervous so I made myself stay calm and do it, for their sanity. Haha!
Zenaida Arroyo says
He is driving now? Wow! Good luck with the streak! I like that it isn’t just for running but can also include other activities.
