Now that June is coming to a close, it’s time to have a bit of a midyear check-in. Things have been good, if not solid. While it hasn’t been an epic year, by any stretch of the imagination, things are moving in a good direction, and I’m riding that wave.
Update on Miles
As a run-walker, Track both my running and walking miles. So far, I’ve completed 457.85 miles, running and 502.08 miles, walking. This is a grand total of 959.93 miles! Does the mean I might have a shot at 2000 this year? It’s something to shoot for!
What About Races?
Racing has also gone quite well this year. My goal is usually one race per month, and I am just slightly ahead of the curve at the moment. It’s good to be back out there in the groove. The plan is to keep up the trend, and run at least six more races before the end of the year.
Update on My Mindset
As you all probably know, this has been a hard year. Lots of hiccups and obstacles and character building that I never asked for. This might be more of a runfession, but my attitude and mindset wasn’t the best for a while. Things are better. I have some days where it’s tough to get up and moving, but I do it anyway. Rain or shine, I’m trying to make its happen.
Breaking Out Of My Comfort Zone
In the last six months, I’ve pushed myself a little out of my comfort zone. I’ve done this by joining up with a local run group and also by trying my first ever ParkRun. It’s been a minute since I’ve felt comfortable letting myself back out into the community, and it feels pretty good. Now that I’m here, I plan to keep going.
Goals For The Rest Of The Year
There are six months left in 2023, and I hope to make the most of them. How?
- Really delve not my strength training. It’s super hard to get motivated in that arena, but it’s good for me, and I need it.
- Increase my weekly miles. The heat and humidity is making it hard to get myself going, but that’s not an excuse.
- Register for a 10K. Yup. I’ve been on the 5K train for too long.
- Register for a half marathon. I think it’s time.
And that’s it. How was the first half of your year? Any goals you hope to reach?
