Spooky Season is here and I couldn’t be happier! It’s time for pumpkins, Halloween, cozy vibes, and soup! I don’t know why, but I am an absolute soup junkie, even if it isn’t cold enough to really enjoy it all the way.
Sunday
- Cardio: 2.62 miles, walking
It was kind of a chill day. Mr PugRunner made breakfast for the boys and they hung out for the morning. I snuck in a walk. Look at my flamingo!
Then A went to one of his friends’ houses, Mr PugRunner went to watch football and I had the house to myself for a bit.
Monday
- Cardio: 5.95 miles, Couch to 5k (x2)
- Strength: Arms + Abs, 50 minutes
Happy Monday! The start of my new regimen!
I kicked it off with a return to Couch to 5K. I felt great so I did one session on my own, and one with J and her sweet puppy. It felt fabulous.
Then I moved to the gym, where I dug into a series of chest, shoulder and bicep work, followed with some abs. The app the trainer set me up with is super clear and easy to use, and I felt very confident making my way through the assigned machines. No pics from inside the gym, obviously, but here’s me after a successful day 1!
Tuesday
- Cardio: 4.11 miles, Couch to 5k
- Strength: Leg + Abs, 50 minutes
Day 2 of all the things! It feels good to feel good. I got up early to be at the gym when it opened. I worked through legs and abs, changed in the locker room (tights in the gym, shorts outside), and went for a run.
It was the prettiest morning and I soaked it all up.
At night, I had a Yelp wine tasting, with charcuterie and craft popsicles. It was a stormy night, but everything turned out beautifully.
Wednesday
- Cardio: 4.95 miles, Couch to 5K
- Strength: Arms + Abs, 50 minutes
By Wednesday, I felt very into the swing of things. Run first.
Than arms at the gym. I was a little disappointed to see a similar workout pop to Monday’s pop up, but I am choosing to trust this process, so I got over it and dug in. The app is great, but it doesn’t allow you to click back to previous workouts, or skip ahead to future ones. I don’t love that feature, or lack thereof.
Thursday
- Cardio: 3.63 miles, Couch to 5K
- Strength: Legs + Abs, 50 minutes
Another early morning, up and out. Legs first, and then a walk. Yay.
I had my hair appointment and I was excited for fresh color and cut.
Friday
- Cardio: 6.11 miles, Couch to 5K
J couldn’t run, but I went out on my own. It was super cool because A had gone to the local elementary school early with some band mates to play at their pep rally, and I could hear them while I ran!
Big work call and lunch with the hubs. We opted out of the football game, since the field was a mess from the rain and the band was only playing a standstill concept with two parts of their show. I hated to miss but it has been a busy week.
Saturday
- Cardio: 2.45 miles, walking
I slept in, and then hustled out for a few quick miles before A and I volunteered to work on an Eagle project.
It went super well, and we were able to leave at 1PM. We had plans for friends to come over to watch Rocky Horror Picture Show, and so we made a themed meal to go with it! The only bummer was it was too wet to sit outside, so we couldn’t throw rice and toast, or squirt water guns.
We had mummy brie, garlic toast, fried rice, turkey meatloaf, roasted carrot “frank-n-furters” in blankets, red velvet cupcakes,
And my favorite, the caramel apple bar.
Thanks, TikTok.
Thoughts + Goals
So it’s October and there are so many fun things that come with that.
I’ve got Pink Up The Pace on Saturday, as well as A’s first band competition of the season. I’m excited to be able to run a race again and hopefully log on for several more.
Also, remember how I set a goal to run 50 races in 50 states, and I started and the world went crazy? Turns out, I have the chance to add two more states this year! Within a month of each other! I’m stoked for how this worked out! This is a slow-achieving goal for me, but that’s ok.
Finally, at the end of the week, I get to schedule a second consultation with the trainer. We will discuss any questions or concerns I have about the program, so far, and then keep on moving.

Wow, it sounds like everything is going great! Glad you’re enjoying the gym.
You really know how to throw a party! All the food looks great, and that caramel apple bar is INSANE. People must get excited when they’re invited over to your house.
Our football game was similar- too wet for the band to go out on field, so they just stand on the track and play. I also skipped it ; )

The gym has been good for me. I’m glad I pushed for it.
I don’t know how excited they get, but I have fun putting things together.
Stupid weather. This is why we can’t have anything nice in Florida. I felt bed. They only have one more home game.

Sounds like you had a great week! Flamingo skeleton. Only in FL. Probably not but it feels that way!
As I always say, you’re so creative! One of the friends I might get together with next week — we saw Rocky Horror in College. OMG a lifetime ago. He’s not sure yet if he’ll be there while we are.
Chocolaterunsjudy recently posted…Live to run another day: 9/25 – 10/1 WRD

They have snake and mermaid skeletons too, but I try not to add TOO much new decor every year.
I haven’t felt creative in a long time. This felt good.

I love the flamingo skeleton!!!
I have to admit that I have never seen RHPS–how can that be? It was the midnight show every weekend at the theater by my apartment in the city for years! Your treats look so yummy!

Isn’t it great!
Oh gosh! It’s the most ridiculous movie! It’s honestly super terrible! But we had fun.
